Despite a lot of negative comments about virtual guitar plugins, there are a lot of good sounding virtual instruments and when put together in a whole song people can’t tell the difference. I’ve tested this. A lot of people who are expert musicians couldnt tell the difference.
@ThisIsOnestoАй бұрын
I agree with this thought. Virtual guitars offer a lot of ways to bring realness to the guitar playing. It takes time and finessing, but when all is said and done, it’s very hard to tell in a full mix. A lot of instruments are virtual, but sometimes guitars aren’t allowed to be virtual. Oh well.

What are your thoughs about Ujam Silk?
@ThisIsOnesto11 ай бұрын
Great question, I actually played around with Silk 2. I think it’s a solid plugin. It gives me the same vibes as Native Instrument’s Acoustic Guitar where you get access to a bunch of great patterns and there’s an instrument mode to play with too. I think that Silk 2 excels at offering solid patterns and quick inspiration. Especially if you need to make a song quickly or just have a busy schedule, a plugin like Silk 2 will get you some great acoustic guitar patterns super quick. The reason why it’s not in my top 5 is because the Soft Acoustic Guitar from Spitfire Audio is really one of the best I heard and has some of the best features I could find in a guitar plugin. It’s simply the best. But I have nothing against Silk 2 at all, it’s just that the Soft Acoustic Guitar is better.

Great job as always Onesto! Still loving my Elec Mint. Hey, I looked at your link on the M32 and read all the descriptions and did not see (after touch) listed. Can you clarify? I know the S series has it. I own the A61 which does Not have after touch.😢

Hey, great hearing from you again! I was mistaken about the M32! I feel so bad about that. The S Series is the only Native Instruments keyboard that has aftertouch. If you're looking for a small affordable keyboard with aftertouch, I would check out Arturias Minilab 3. I'm pretty sure it has aftertouch!

how is electric mint different to electric vintage
@ThisIsOnesto11 ай бұрын
Great question. There's two big things that come to mind. First is that both guitars are based on different guitar bodies. Electric Mint is a Stratocaster and Electric Vintage is a Telecaster. This mostly means that they will have a different tone. The other big difference are the patterns that come with each guitar library. This may or may not be important to you depending on if you plan on using the pattern presets.

Which plugin would you choose between the electric sunburst deluxe and the electric mint? Great content
@ThisIsOnesto11 ай бұрын
Hey, great question! I would recommend Electric Mint, especially if you have a MIDI keyboard with Aftertouch. Electric Mint lets you use aftertouch to play vibrato. You can also drag and drop MIDI patterns which is another cool feature that Sunburst Deluxe does not have. I also think the sound quality itself is better. If you're deciding between the two, also consider the guitar tones themselves. The Sunburst is a sampled Les Paul while Electric Mint is a Stratocaster. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@ThisIsOnestoАй бұрын
Good question, I’d check out Bias 2 from Positive Grid. It’s an amp/guitar pedal sim. It’s super easy to use, and with Black Friday coming up very discounted. What I find great about their ecosystem, is that there’s a pretty active community preset portal where you can try out effect chains from other users. So I wouldn’t be surprised if you found that 90’s smashing pumpkins tone you’re searching for.

I'd love an acoustic guitar plugin with 'extraneous' noises. I'm not a guitar player, so don't even know how to explain properly, but what I mean is when a guitarist slides over frets, the clicks and such when muting. What plugin does this 'noisy' sound best?
@ThisIsOnesto4 ай бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. The good news is that a lot of guitar plugins offer some way to hear those Guitar Noises. Electric Mint, and the Spitfire Acoustic guitar from this video can do that. Sometime those noises are heard when just playing the guitar, but for other noises you'll have to hit a key to hear it. Usually the key is in the lower register, but it will trigger all kinds of extraneous noises.

Totally agree with this list! Thanks for bringing the MG soft nylon from Spitfire to my attention - gotta pick that up! Spitfire always has great quality stuff. I see you skipped Ujam despite them pushing hard to compete with Native Instruments Guitar Session instruments. Any reason?
@ThisIsOnesto7 ай бұрын
The MG Soft Nylon still impresses me. It’s stupid how good it sounds. When it comes to Ujam, I’m very familiar with their Guitar Plugins. I think Ujam has a better workflow when it comes to their patterns engine. They are plugins that I would recommend, however, I still think NI has the edge. I think NI is doing a better job with the quality of their instrument mode and effects. So I guess in conclusion, if I’m asked what are some good guitar plugins, I would mention NI and Ujam. But if I’m asked what I think are the best guitar plugins, then I would name the plugins that I listed in this video.
@JeffyG7 ай бұрын
@@ThisIsOnesto Agreed! I have both the NI Session Guitars and the 5 Ujam guitar VSTs as well as the Heavocity nylon guitar and some freebies from Ample. Ujam is the easiest to use as a beginner, but I’m a 40-year-guitar player, so the sound of the results matters more to me than easy of use. As a result of a recent illness, neuropathy in my hands makes it difficult to play acoustic and electric guitar, so I started playing with the available virtual guitar instruments. NI definitely has the edge, but they’re heavily invested in patterns, whereas I’d prefer to program my own patterns as midi, then pick the sounds and articulations I like best. So far, most virtual guitar instruments are aimed at non-guitar players. Maybe that will change?
@ThisIsOnesto7 ай бұрын
@@JeffyG I hope that does change, or at least becomes more guitar player friendly. The good news is that there's been a lot of development in recent years. And sorry to hear about your neuropathy, that's terrible, especially for a musician. I hope that technology helps you still connect to playing in a whole new way. I hope you're surprised at what you can do and more.

Here’s the thing. Guitar VST plugins will NEVER, EVER sound like real guitars played by talented musicians. NOT in a million years. They still lack the nuance, the feel, the expressiveness, and the raw energy and emotion that guitarists put into making great music. Maybe, in the next 50 years, they’ll start sounding like real guitars. Until then, emulating the sound of real guitars is FUNDAMENTALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
