Acc to me your calculation is incorrect. Your aim was to show the impact of expense ratio on the overall profit.. You are assuming 1% as fees or expense ratio and simply reducing it from 12% profit but this is not correct..bec, 1% need to be reduced from the investment money (bec that's how MF work) and then on the remaining amount, 12% profit will be made... Both calculations will give different results

1 percent commission does Not means 1 percent reduction in returns (xirr/cagr). So, the calculation is wrong here. If I pay 1 % commission and I get around 18% returns on Rs 100 invested for 10 years I will get Rs. 518 at the end. If I invest same Rs. 100 in index fund with 0 commission and 15% returns I will get Rs. 404.5 at the end. Also, I will get peace of mind if I hire a professional service for managing my money with one percent commission.

One percent commission - wont it be 25000 * 1% = 250? So if 1% commission paid from each SIP over next 40 years, still the invested amount will be 1.18 crores realising corpus of 28 crore. Didn’t really get the number of 21 crore (9 crore fall). Adjusting the rate of return from 12 to 11% is really the same as 1% commission on each SIP?? Please help clarify @akshat

Commission is not calculated on the invested amount. The entire SIP money is pooled together and commission is deducted from the daily NAV. Fees like the expense ratio and management fees are deducted regularly from the mutual fund’s assets, reducing the overall return.

But if you want to liquidate any particular stock u need to pay Capital Gain whereas there is no Tax on liquidation of any stock on individual if it is liquidated by MF...MF is registered as trust so the tax system is different for Trust......So your income tax will substitued with commission in long term considering high tax rates

@@jumpinJUMBO let say u r holding reliance at 100% gain and you feel that share will decline in future so now you want to liquidate the Reliance share so now you have to pay tax but at the same time MF manager feels the same and he liquidate Reliance share then it is not going to taxable to Unit holder. Individual used in reference to Unit Holder in above comment.
