I just got the TRX4 79 ford bronco and I love it it is awesome, it's gone through soupy mud, climb hills, and over rocks with ease. It performs very well I've had no issues thank you Sharing

I have had my TRX 4 for a year now and am still blown away by its performance. The only part that broke is the steering servo which unfortunately is pretty much a guarantee. So if you don't want to miss out on any crawling time just pick one out now and buy it as soon as possible. I bought a Savox that has worked just fine. I may have to upgrade it again though because I just bought the "Long Arm Lift Kit" in anodized red and put some 2.2" tires on it. It will be a good test for the Savox. Enjoy that truck man! I know you will, and order that steering servo!

I love my trx4 bronco but my scx10 crawls better and vertical I believe the scx 10 2 is even with trx4 bcuz it's less of a headache to work on and cheaper to fix and mod

Very good feedback!!! Yes, the two are very close. SCX10 is better for reliability and upgradeability while the TRX4 has the advantage with technology and features.

Great review although I'm just now getting a notification on this video. Now you can add the trx-4 sport to the number one spot. Lighter, reliable, great price, nothing complicated about it. Just the body is plain but looks good with add ons like mirrors and snorkel from the gen7 pro.

I’m running three out of the five on the list, I have scx10 ii in the form of CRC Jeep, a HPI Venture and a Trx-4 Bronco. They’re all in stock form apart from wheel and tyre (tire) upgrades. I can’t fault any of them and like them all equally for different reasons, I’ve had no failures or breakages with either thus far. The SXC10 is the most capable for my driving style as far as getting over obstacles etc due to approach and departure angles. The Bronco is just plain cool and I love the way it moves, the way it looks, it’s super fun switching gears and locking/unlocking gears etc, it’s a beast. The HPI is a little freak, it’ll go anywhere the others go but on paper doesn’t look like it should, really excels hill climbing and seems to have an edge in the lose stuff, my 7 year old son drives this the most out of the three, he loves it and does well with it. All are very capable trucks with their own strengths and weaknesses that require you to adjust your driving style to the individual vehicle and conditions to get the best out of them which is part of the fun....key word there ladies and gents....FUN....stop taking it so seriously and enjoy it for what it is.... I don’t get the whole this ones better than that one mentality, be happy with what you have and be happy for others to have what they have whether it be the same or different to yours, we all have different tastes, budgets etc, some of us are happy to run stock, other like to mod to the eyeballs, no one should be put down for any of these differences. We’re all in it for something to enjoy in our downtime, if you feel the need to fight over it maybe you need a new hobby...

Very good insight indeed! The HPI is indeed a mutant. Once you change the tires, it's quite the climber! If you could only have one, box stock, which one would it be? That's what most folks want to know since they often can buy only one. We've been recommending the TRX-4 Sport a lot. It seems to be cheapest, most capable and durable around.

Ok, if I had to choose only one and it has to be 100% stock I’d have to go with the SCX10 ii CRC Jeep as I personally think it’s the most capable for what I want out of the box. The Bronco is stunning though.....😍 The TRX-4 sport from all the reviews I’ve watched and read looks like it could edge out the CRC but I’m basing my choice on personal experience. I haven’t had anything to do with the Sport yet so I can’t make an honest comment but from all accounts it looks awesome, a licenced body with the same/similar approach/departure angles would make it more appealing to some of the die hards, I actually don’t mind the body but I won’t be rushing out to buy one. I think my next purchase if any would be the Gen8 it’s really peaked my interest but I haven’t found it available where I live in Australia as yet. Very happy with what I have though, we’ve got the SCX10 ii trail Honcho also, box stock including tyres and it’s a great little performer.

You can always buy a body separately. They make some seriously cool aftermarket bodies. You're not just limited to what comes in an rtr kit remember that!

I agree with That rating, had most of them, and now have only 3 traxxas trx-4, an axial 6x6 and a mst cfx That should have been in this rating as well, But its Not a rtr so it Did not Qualify. The mst cfx is a great smaller crawler for wheelbase around 250mm and the cfx-w us the Long Version that also has Portal axles.

The tactical one is your thumbnail is actually a custom build. I remember a magazine I had on rcs had that one in it. Its a sick build butnits mostly custom parts. Cant buy them like that

All the trx-4 trucks have alot of front weight to them with the reversed motor, the battery is actually more rearward than front with it almost over the rear axel. The only downfall is the stock servo..in otherwords it sucks, majorly, the plastic horn strips super quickly and the servo is slow and has no torque to it at all, good thing is there are alot of mods already that add weight

Over engineered with stuff that never actually does go wrong, though. :P Add a ProLine body and the TRX4 beats the Axial. Although I keep ALMOST pulling the trigger on an Axial cause I'm big on the scale realism and LOVE watching that floating axle articulate. It's just when I figure in the lack of 3 more servos, locking diffs, 2 speeds, cruise control, aluminum vs plastic shocks, plus the portal axles, the Axial is ridiculously overpriced. Turning the Axial into a TRX is HORRIBLY more expensive than changing the body and servo on my Defender, even less with the Bronco since it's weight is similar to the SCX10 II. There's nothing wrong with the Axial, but the TRX4 is the next generation.

Aluminum isn't always better. The thing is the axial has been a staple in the crawling industry for years and has nothing tonprove, the traxxas definitely has problems and is very top heavy. I have a trx4, scx10ll, and a vaterra ascender and my ascender has a better suspension setup and crawls better than the other two right out of the box and is my favorite. Traxxas has a bunch of hype around anything they do but it's a nice truck. I got the sport version because you dont need all that other crap as it does go wrong for sure and traxxas servos of any kind have always been Throw aways.

@@JKZ103 hmm. Maybe I'm easier on my stuff than most people then. My first Traxxas was a fiero gtp back in 1987 then several since and I've never had a servo just poof on me unless it was something I did. It's funny you mention hype with Traxxas cause I grew up with them being the scrubs when Associated and Losi dominated 8D. It's true aluminum isn't necessarily better but it's definitely not cheaper. There's still a lot of value in the TRX if you actually want those bells and whistles. Tradition is great but you can't stop trying to improve. At the very least the Axial guys can thank Traxxas for price reductions. Competition helps all of us. That's why I want Redcat to succeed. 😜

It's a tank that never breaks and what special technology is everyone talking about because traxxas didn't invent portal axels they took that from real life crawlers so it was already a proven design but idiots think Traxxas invented them, portal axles have been around the off road community for a while now traxxas was just smart enough to put it into a RC.

I would buy a truck full of TRX4 s if I would get them for 450$. Well, maybe not, but at least one certainly. In Germany the price is more like 623,91$. (549€) And for that amount of money I'd rather rent a real 4x4 for a few days.

Good input. We're torn about the RC4WD TF2. Great quality but not a great performer with the leaf springs. It's more for realism. We're getting the RC4WD Terrain soon.

I dissagree with that list. Just simple facts. TRX electonics sucks badly, SCX2 have play in everything, Everest is cheap material build and HPI have also some material issues. What will last forever is Ascender, what is best balanced is HPI, what has the most clearance is TRX4. This list is about what is the most famoust truck now.

pera2008 Traxxas electronics do not suck and castle makes a handful of them for there cars, boats I have a 2075 servo in my rustler Vxl for 10 years now still going strong they just came out with high voltage servo that look really nice and finally started making metal gears sets to put in the older servos

@@maniac1628 old traxxas not, but all newer doesn`t have same quality like old ones. Metal servos have only 2 metal gears, rest is plastic, steering servos in combo fail, Titan and Velineon motor smoke and sometimes ESC burn also ( not all is made by Castle anymore ). It really doesn`t have the same quality like 10 years before. Try new stuff and you will understand why a lot people hate new traxxass electronics. Don`t live in past, live and learn also from present.
