I got the NB 796 based on your vid on them and immediately loved them. Super light but stable, and finally a shoe that has a comfy wide toe box. I play them on hard court and clay and feel fine on both surfaces. Plus, got them on sale from Tennis Point and ended up spending a whopping $65! Can't recommend these shoes enough.

Just picked up my 2nd pair of Diadora Blu Shield Torneo AG's (grabber blue color) & easily the best hard court shoe I've played. Very comfortable, stable & weight is just about right. I like the blue colorway & hope they produce in black too in future. Would be nice to get a commemorative Guga issue at some point so hopefully Diadora Mgmt. tunes into your channel & comments. Blueshield Torneo or Lotto Raptor for someone who’s coming off a medial tibia stress reaction (lower distal 1/3). Pickleball player. Small history of lower leg/foot issues. Medium to high arches and use orthotics (might give the footprints a try, currently using the superfeet dynamic run max).

I have a fairly wide foot, yet I get by with court ff2. In fact, I have 5 pairs. I just bought the new tuna blue colorway with clay tread (first time getting clay) and wow was it ridiculously tighter and did not fit. I’m not sure if they’re changing the shoe or it’s something to do with the clay style. Returned them. Oh well. That said, any recommendation for a 13 wide suited for clay? I’m a very heavy guy too so cushion > speed.

Great pick! I've been using the NB's 796v3 since last August (bought them from Tennis Point Europe with a very good discount ;). They blow all my expectations! From the first try they became instantly the best tennis shoes I've ever used (and I play for more than 30 years) - the cushioning is superb (it's like if you're using running shoes but with more stability that gives a strong connection to the ground), they're super comfortable and very well built. Also, the all court outsole of the 796's is excellent, as I play 6 hours per week on hard/clay I need an all court outsole that really works on clay - they let you slide with ease. Been a Vapor user for years but now they feel hard on my feet comparing with the 796's. I'm going for a second pair for sure.

Still using the Nike GP Turbos per your recommendation. Life saver, the perfect shoe for me. Just bought the last 2 pair I could find in my size. After that I need to find something to transition too. Flat flexible foot, size 9.5 in the Turbos. Please help me with a recommendation. Do you think the Babolat Jet Mach 3 would be good for padel courts? I'm a tall and heavy guy, 190cm and 110kg, with wide feet. I would like to nominate a shoe for your next TOP 5 list - the BABOLAT PROPULSE FURY 3. I have tried all the top five shoes on this list, and I have to say, these are pretty sweet! They are very well balanced shoe with great stability. A nice performing shoe all around. Cushioning is good, fit is medium, maybe a smidge generous compared to something like a Barricade. This shoe is a better performing shoe all-around to the Asics Court FF3, the Asics Resolution 9, the Adidas Barricade, or any Nike shoe made today. It feels a bit like a Diadora Blushield shoe in terms of cushion but like a Barricade in terms of stability. Closest shoe I can think of to compare it to might be the Diadora B.Icon - which is high praise in my book. I just got my pair, but so far, I like it a lot. Definitely a shoe to try out. Could be the best shoe of 2023!

Hello foot doctor, do you know of any footshaped / minimalist tennis shoes? Based on what I have seen from your videos I assume you don't like that style of shoe but now that I am used to them any shoe that pushes against my arches causes foot pain, but sadly all minimalist shoes I've tried get ripped apart within a month or two on hard courts.

Hey, Zach! I was thinking about getting the New Balance 796v3 but a lot of people online say to get a half size bigger. So I'm wondering what size to get them. I'm currently wearing the Fresh Foam X LAV V2 size 8.5 but it's been causing me a lot of discomfort while I'm hitting. While I love the support on them, I want to try something a bit lighter and more comfortable. I have flat feet with fallen arches by the way.

After much research lol, I decided to stick with the 9. It runs a bit long but it fits my wide and fallen arches feet better. I'm going to be hitting this weekend and will follow up how they feel after.

Took a set or two to break in doing doubles and felt good playing singles. Tread could be better as I nearly slipped one or so times but overall a great shoe for price!

@@cybernetennis I love BOTH shoes - don't get me wrong. I wore the Lotto Raptors for a year before switching to the Diadoras. My main reason - and only complaint of the Raptor - was the pad behind my achilles tendon in the Raptor gave me issues. The B.Icon has a different more accommodating design to avoid irritation to the achilles tendon.

Your ShareASale links aren't working. I know Nike size 12 fits me well but Adidas 12 is just slightly too big and Adidas 11.5 are too small. I tried on Wilson, Babolat, and Head and they're just all over the place. I'd try another brand besides Nike but I don't want to waste time and shipping fees trying everything on. Hi Dr. Zach, sending love from Toronto, Canada. I love your channel and have been following for about a year since starting tennis. I'm a semi- minimalist and was looking for one shoe that I can wear to play tennis in (intermediate, club level) but also use for strength and conditioning (running 5k, bodyweight and dumbbell training in the gym). I'm also 6'2, 230 lbs, low arch (between flat and neutral) feet, and have had issues with knee/lower back/hip joints in the past. Any suggestions or thoughts? The lotto shoes felt soo good in the beginning but they are unplayable at a high speed game. They feel like two bricks on my feet. But they do are comfortable. Just not an ideal tennis shoe. I would much rather recommend The ASICS court ff 2

It's an interesting shoe in that it's almost max cushion but with a very light and soft upper. Love the performance, but you can see how it might break down. Any alternatives to the Icon you might recommend? I have found that going down an ounce in weight from the Blueshield 5 to the Icon increased my speed on court.

@@FootDoctorZach The new Diadora B.Icon 2 is supposed to address the durability issues. Hopefully, they have done that. I love the B.Icon, but the midsole seem to break down pretty fast based on my experience. Did you find this to e true, as well?

So based on this review, I had to go pick-up a pair of the New Balance 796 v3 to compare them to my favorite Diadora B.Icons. While I will admit that FOR THE MONEY the NB 796s have a great combination of comfort, stability, traction, and speed the Diadora B.Icon (and it's sister shoe the Blushield Torneo) are far superior to the New Balance shoe in all aspects. I do appreciate what you are trying to do here in applauding an amazing shoe value in the NB 796 (now available on some site for as little as $59. right now) and there is no denying it is the best shoe in terms of Price / Performance ratio on the market. That said, there is also no denying that both the Diadora shoes mentioned are clearly the best shoes on the market at this time. Zach, I think you even know that based on the comments in this review. At this point in time, DIADORA RULES!
