macbooks are the preferred choice for doing anything related to tech. yan yung number 1 ginagamit in the states and others as well. it's an unspoken standard. u are golden in terms sa equipment. all u need are the skills

python is open source. sql is not, because it's a standard. maraming vendors ang sql. pero wala naman siyang relation sa entry. open source or not, doesn't hinder u to learn a tech skill

This is a good question. Different people might have different answers. Pero here's mine. I define Data Science as anything that uses data in a technological manner -- whether it's for Analysis, Engineering, Machine Learning, etc. For me, everyone who works and use data is a Data Scientist. Even a Data Analyst is a Data Scientist. Some people defining Data Scientist as those who only use AI and ML. Which for me is wrong. A Data Engineer is still considered a Data Scientist. I think it's wrong to compartmentalize Data Science into just one field where in fact everyone who uses Data is still using the science of it. Even excel power users are data scientists!

So to answer your question -- yes these tips can be applied as long as you are using data to solve problems!
