Just trim that Peace Lily back and it will grow back beautifully. Love how it tells you when it’s thirsty with it’s droopy leaves. The leaves perk right up.

My favorite plant is a peace lily- even though I don't think you like it, hahahaha... Mine have all bounced back. They just need a lot of water because they are tropical. They also don't like direct sunlight. They are perfect for those shady parts of your house. They are my favorite because they are the BEST air cleaners. Keep them in your bedroom for restful night sleeps. In the kitchen to reduce cooking smells. In the living room in your dark corners. A great plant!

I find them pretty resilient. They’re lush and grow at a steady speed. Yeah they’re thirsty, but don’t get too upset when they’re drying out a bit. And they don’t have to be in bright bright light.

You are so funny and honest and I love it. It’s nice to see someone who is just as bad with plant as I am. I’m 66 and my husband loves gardening. I said plant things that I can take care of incase you can’t when we’re older. He said that’s easy. I’ll plant artificial plants. I have to admit I have had orchids for a long time and they’re still blooming.

Just "carve" out a half-hour and get your clippers out and groom all those dead stems/leaves right off those babies. You'll be surprised how much your plants will LOVE you for it! lol

I’m in the process of removing lots of faux house plants (that I’ve realised aren’t fooling anyone!) & replacing them with real plants... with varying degrees of luck! I’m relieved to hear that you have experienced varying degrees of luck with indoor plants too...yet you continue to experiment with plants and see what works for you! That Peace Lily needs to be divided at the root ball and potted into 3 or 4 different pots. It's just outgrown the container, which means it doesn't have enough room to hold enough water for it either. Maidenhair Fern is native to North American woodlands. They love the Northern California Coast, where it's cool, wet and foggy. You could try keeping it in the bathroom, and giving it a gentle cold shower once or twice a week. Then leaving it in the shower stall for a while. It probably needs some organic fertilizer, too, since it's native to areas rich in organic material.

I love African Violets! They flower once a month so you will have flowers, it lets you know when it needs to be watered - the bottom leaves start to wilt. Tip always water from the bottom; morning sunlight and always repot with African Violet soil. You can use 2 drops of AV food in every watering except in the winter months. Leaves can be propagated. They come in lots of colors.

I enjoy geraniums also. I still have some that I winter inside and then bring out in the summer. They also remind me of my Mother who had a lovely sunroom filled with them. A succulent that I enjoy is the Jade plant. It grows quickly making it a good decorative greenery and it doesn’t require much attention just plenty of light.

My sister loves orchids, so I ran across a faux set of them at a thrift store where the flowers were pretty good quality, picked those up for her, cut off the faux flower stems and stuck them into her real orchid plants. When they start blooming she takes them out, but during the wait she has what looks like real blooms, on an actual live plant :)

Big fan of orchids here! I love them. So easy. And I do the ice cube trick once a week.. I have a windowsill that I keep them growing on. I have success with reblooming. I can say that I do believe they have a life span. After about 3 or 4 blooming seasons they tend to stop blooming all together. They are very affordable and I buy them just as the blooms are first opening. A beauty for at least 4 months in my home.

Try a Christmas Cactus or a Thanksgiving Cactus. My Thanksgiving Cactus is about 20 years old. It blooms twice a year and has pretty leaves, ruby colored when they first form. Three of my four Christmas Cacti are at least 30, probably much older, and one of them is almost 100. They bloom from early December to late April. They all do well inside year-around and you can put them outside when the temp is in the 70s and above, if you want. (Hint - Peace Lilies are needy, but they can grow in just water.) You can do it, Valentina! :)

The ficus is known to be fussy. I had great luck with mine however. Very very bright indirect light. Water thoroughly one a week. Peace lilys r actually very easy and forgiving, they r usually more work and not so happy if u have them in a brighter location. Move them to more shade and you'll get away with only watering them every 2 weeks or so. Oh also I've had bad luck with orchids, but I still buy them because someone once told me, it lasts longer than cut flowers for about the same price!!! And I thought good point! :) I'm totally going to try to buy a fig tree now, thanks!

That wall area right outside of your office is perfect for the Peace Lilly. It’s bright but there’s no direct sunlight. Add more organic soil, bark, coffee grounds. Water when leaves are drooping and she’ll bring you peace. Otherwise, leave it on the curb with a FREE sign and she’ll be picked up by the time you reach your front door.

Don’t loose heart! Houseplants add life and energy. There is a great deal of information on line. I bought a bird nest “fern”. It has thicker leaves, a swirl pattern growth, which makes a center spot for a ceramic egg, bird, faux flower bouquet surprise. So much fun at Easter! We have bright but filtered with sheer curtains light. Small citrus trees are lovely in a sun room. In shade, try a moss, particularly nice with a sculpture in the center. The sculpture draws attention so you never forget a sip out of your bottled water for it. Since Landon loves plants in the garden, let him help with house plant, of his choice. Suggest really great looking pots and vases shapes in glass so he can watch root growth. Try cutting root end off celery root, placing in water just above where green stalk starts. Fun watching and kitchen window great location for new celery stalks. Great addition to recipes. Pretty, too. Carrot tops are prettier than maidenhair fern and easier. Cut at 1/2 from root end and put in lovely bowl in 1 inch water. Don’t forget letting him try sweet potatoes, The leafing branches are gorgeous!

In case of a busy life: there are some very good watering systems... Even smart systems you can control with the phone. Sooo agree with you about orchids, it's not their being finicky but their being sad looking most of the time. Also, they seem to need their roots exposed to light to thrive, as in "do I hide that plastic vase in a plant pot and ruin the plant or do I leave it out and ruin the decor?" Also, they have become so mainstream here in Italy (and yet have this distinct rain forest vibe that matches very few interiors) that I find them almost tacky out of their context. With all that said, I am keeping two alive in our bathroom (they were a gift when our baby was born and I can't bring myself to wave them goodbye) and I don't even mind them having been just two leaves for months. But the brown-ish roots that immediately lost their healthy plumpness...? Nope.

I am a live house plant collector and have around 120 plants (down from 250+ during the pandemic). The Monstera is awesome, but it gets too big for my apartment. I do have a Maidenhair fern and love it, but it is a diva on steroids for sure. It's a Begonia, lol. I only have one in my collection (but my angel wing begonia is thriving), because I don't have the conditions in most of my home that are right for them and they are needy plants. Orchids do very well for me, as do a lot of ferns. I have to disagree with you about ficus. If you are only talking about the weeling fig, then yes they are difficult. But the rubber tree is amazing and it comes in some gorgeous varieties! The Philodendron is a huge group of plants, but no, the Monstera ls NOT a Philodendron. Both are Aroids though. One of my absolute favorite plants in my collection is my Domino Peace lily, she is huge and I have had her for seven years. I find her very easy to grow and maintain. Yes they are toxic to pet, I keep mine where my cars cannot get to her. I have been growing house plants for over fifty years and really enjoy the hobby.

Orchids and succulents are NOT my friends, though. I’ve killed so many succulents over the years and have an unhappy looking orchid in my kitchen and a pretty-much-dead orchid in the master bath. Hi Valentina, I love your channel! I love how you decorate with plant clippings. But I always worry about plants bringing bugs into the home. Do you have any tips for managing plant pests for indoor plants?

Give plants a good wipe down when you bring them home and that usually keeps them from bringing anything in. There are sprays you can use as well
