Who are the Big Ten's breakout candidates at quarterback entering the 2024 season? I have five of them in Michigan State's Aidan Chiles, Michigan's Alex Orji, Nebraska's Dylan Raiola, Northwestern's Brendan Sullivan, and Penn State's Drew Allar. Big Ten Football is not known for producing high-level quarterback play. Still, with JJ McCarthy, Kyle McCord, and Taulia Tagovailoa taking their talents to other schools or the NFL, I think this year will be a down year for quarterbacks even by Big Ten standards. Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, and Michael Penix Jr will also leave for the NFL, so I expect a decrease in quarterback play from the Big Ten newcomers as well. This leaves tons of room for breakout candidates in the conference, and I think many of the players I listed, particularly Aidan Chiles and Drew Allar, have the potential to be the best quarterback in the conference in 2024. Make sure to comment so I can interact with you and answer any questions you have!

First of all I don't think you understand it!!! Drew was not underwhelming!!! 25 tds and 2 interceptions, Yursich screwed him up by teaching him to check down with the huge arm 💪 and skills he has!!! Also, the new OC is very good, and J. Fleming came from the best damn receiver room in the nation and is going to be a true number one, which KLS truly is not!!! My point being, the receivers can play loose now and understand what they can and can't do!!! KLS, Tre Wallace, K. Saunders, and A. Evans are going to show everyone and I am sure they are taking the well deserved criticism personally!!!!!!! WE ARE

Last year in the pre-season, Harbaugh said Orji “had a chance to be one of the greatest kick returners of all time” and then we didn’t see him return a single kick all season. So I’m a little skeptical of the coaching hype. But still a fan of Orji.

There are some questions with Chiles, and they don’t have anything to do with him directly-1. Does MSU have receivers that can get separation and catch the ball? 2. Will MSU’s O-Line be good enough to prove both protection and a good enough run game to allow Chiles a chance to perform?

As a die hard Nittany Lions 🦁 fan, I love laughing at all the 4 teams coming to the big ten!!! The Pac 12 sucked ass, and overrated Oregon, is still overrated!!! They were beating up on that conference and Washington beat them twice last year, and all of them have new quarterbacks, and we play this thing called defense in Happy Valley, Big House, and Columbus, Wisconsin and Iowa as well!!! You fans are going to realize that it is not going to be easy in the big ten, trust me!!!! WE ARE Good luck though, your going to need it!!!

Wimsatt. Same skill set as Orji and the difference between them is that he’s actually thrown more than 1 pass in his career. Everyone keeps saying he saw time in big games…and never threw a ball. He’s not gonna have the same OL as last year, not the same WR core, not the same RB room, and is a Grand Canyon gap from JJ

You totally ignored Will Howard the transfer who is a fifth year senior at Ohio State. With the Buckeyes offensive arsenal and Chip Kelly’s offense, this kid could be a Heisman candidate. Also, rumors abound that the Alabama freshman transfer Julian Sayin is lighting it up this spring. Ohio State has three more kids behind those two who are as good as anybody in the Big Ten. Probably going to lose at least one to the portal.

I did not include will Howard on the list because we have already seen both his upside and average level of play at Kansas State. I don't think he will have a massive break out season this year, but I could be wrong.

I have high hopes for Aidan, but have decided to temper my expectations due to the rebuild that is underway. But assuming that Coach Michalczik is able to produce a *good* OL - not great or elite, because that’s a bit unreasonable in year one - and the WRs can actually get some separation this year, then I think he can have a solid first year at MSU. I definitely have faith in the RB room w/ Nathan returning and certainly hope JB can stay healthy for the majority of the year. Glad we only have roughly 4 1/2 more months until CFB returns! Go Green!

Receivers weren’t the problem it was the scheme Jay Johnson ran worst OC in the country
@Oziot
@Oziot 2 ай бұрын
@@youngstacksbasegodBoth can be true. Jay Johnson was a disaster as OC for MSU - and likely will be at Wyoming - but it was apparent early on that the WR room lacked that true vertical threat to make opposing defenses second guess themselves. Most throws from their QBs were contested, and while that doesn’t fall completely on the WRs, their tendency to fail to get separation on a consistent basis didn’t help the situation. I’m hoping they can nab a receiver or two during the Spring transfer portal window.
