Is it about how Biles is anti-woman and makes public catty remarks about other women, even her teammates, and how she supports anti-woman values? She's no role model. She wishes she were Gabby Douglas, but she doesn't have Gabby's positive and supporting personality.

I remember watching the 2000 Olympic Vault segment and thinking, "Something is not right there. Why hasn't an official stopped things and checked." How many vaulters went before something was done? I thought there was an official checklist for these events and the lead judge had to confirm the height before signing off? I mean, they did in US Collegiate competition of the same era.
@astrinymris99534 ай бұрын
The only reason the error was caught was that Australian gymnast Allana Slater went to an official and reported that the vault felt too low. If she hadn't spoken up, it's possible that the error wouldn't have been caught until the competition was over. Gymnasts of that era weren't encouraged to speak up if something seemed wrong to them. ☹

In the 2000 vault height error incident, all of the gymnasts who had already attempted their vaults were allowed to choose whether they wanted a do-over once the height was corrected. If I remember correctly, some said yes, and some (who presumably had not had bad vaults) let their earlier scores stand. I remember that Svetlana Khorkina did not quite understand what the English-speaking judge was trying to ask her (did she want to redo her vault) and she called for an interpreter.
@dancecat7083 ай бұрын
As I understand it, she didn’t want to redo her vault. She fell on the uneven bars, so redoing her vault wouldn’t get her a medal.

I remember the vault scandal. It wasn’t just the injuries that could happen, the gymnasts were DESTROYED by having the vault warm-up fall so badly. Even after the vault screw ups they were thrown and it destroyed the rest of the event for them because of the fact the vault was at the wrong level. They actually had several falls after that rotation. To the point where many of the top gymnasts were knocked out of contention afterwards because they made massive mistakes on the next rotation.

I think its stupid the Pseudo Ephedrine is considered a performance enhancing drug for Gymnasts when its a common decongestant in cold medicine like the Nurofen Andrea Raducan took at the Sydney Olympics that got her stripped of her Gold Medal she was 9 days shy of her 17th birthday when she won that medal on Sept 21st 2000 when it was winter in Australia whilst it was summer/early fall in the Northern Hemisphere if your found to be a gifted future Olympic Gymnast you practice for a min of 10 years before you can go to Olympic trials aged 16 and possibly make the team like Hezly Rivera did for the US this year as the youngest member of the 5 woman team and 2 traveling alternates are Leann Wong age 20 and Joscelyn Roberson age 18 the four returning are Simone Biles 27 Jade Carey 24 Jordan Chiles 23 and Suni Lee age 21 believe min age to make the team in 2000 was 15 yrs. old the youngest girl to make the US Olympic Gymnastics team that year was Tasha Schwikert age 15 yrs. 10 Mos while the oldest on the team was Dominique Dawes aged 23 years 10 Mos. born Nov 20th 1976
