Better Than Yesterday

6 жыл бұрын

With so many books in the world, how do you know which ones should you read? You probably don't want to waste your time reading books that give no value, that's why you should choose them wisely.
In today's video, I want to talk about 5 books I read, that had a huge impact on my life.
These are the books I think everyone should read at least once and if you're like me you will be re-reading them once a year.
1. Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss - amzn.to/2Fr07P5
2. Mindset by Carol Dweck - amzn.to/2CPyoFZ
3. Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl - amzn.to/2ml23Qx
4. Talent is Overrated by Geoffrey Colvin - amzn.to/2mgY2MS
5. Quiet by Susan Cain - amzn.to/2CTBYip
I'd like to hear which books changed your life and helped you grow as a person. And which of them would you suggest to other people? Feel free to post your suggestions in the comments below.

Thanks for the video, I like the recommendations! You asked for books that changed my life. There are several ones, but many people have already made book suggestions. So I thought I would go a different route: I will suggest a movie, and a comic. Movie: Shawshank Redemption. If there is one movie that can give hope to any of us, it is this movie. It is full of lessons for life, about hardship, perseverance, friendship, and finding meaning and fellow humanity in the toughest of places. Comic: Astonishing X-men 68, by Marjorie Liu. The last comic of this run, and Liu chooses to further explore the obscure character of Warbird. She comes from a different world and is stranded on Earth. All she knows is how to be a warrior, but recently she has discovered her talents for art, for painting. And she wonders: who am I, who am I allowed to be? Universal questions, and many of the pages feel like a poem. An inspiration that I repeatedly read again.

I would add 1 that is very important to having more meaningful relationships, any kind. The 5 Love Languages explains how knowing how everyone shows love and needs others to show it back to them. I understand my family and friends so much more and know how to show them how much I care so that they really feel it.

Gordon Neufeld & Gabor Mate "Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers" Changed my whole world, worldview, understanding of myself as a person, understanding of my parents, society, everything. Made me cry a few times and made me a better father and a better person. Although it tries to push religion and tradition (the same bullshit as Jordan Peterson) if you can see through those parts (the same goes for 12 Rules for Life) it's an incredibly valuable book.

Clason -Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss -Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki Although I dislike the last one by now, it started everything so it deserves a place. The rest helped me going from more abstract ideas (The first) to solve specific problems (The fourth), in that order.

1. The Bible 2. School of money by Emmanuel Olumide 3. Spirit Soul and body by Andrew Womack 4. Dopamine nation by Anna lembke 5. And then apply the Bible verse that says. Don’t be hearer but a doer of the word. Because reading can only give you information and if that information isn’t implemented it remains random information.

"Ishmael by Daniel Quinn" - a masterpiece dissecting the modern world, human nature, and ecology in one riveting novel...it also has two offshoots, although not a trilogy, some things need to be said again and again and again. I'm sorry, but talent definitely has a huge impact on your ability to be successful in any one field. It might not be the only factor, hard work ABSOLUTELY plays a role. But it's like people racing towards a specific goal, let's say the goal is to be the best basketball player in the world. LeBron James has the fastest car known to man, and you have a Toyota Prius. You both, from birth, head toward this goal. LeBron is where he is now, and you might make it to play high level college basketball.
