I need to run more of the cycling lands, that is a solid piece of advice! I keep saying the same with the graveyard hate as well.

First tip bonus: Don't play any tapped lands. No need to since we have so many other options. Basics and utility lands are better than lands that come into play tapped. Of course in 3 or more colors it's better to have options than speed but 2 colors or mono colored decks shouldn't play any tapped lands.

I understand having minimal tapped lands but I find having 5 or less isn’t a big hinderance to the speed of the deck. Also many of the utility lands I mentioned don’t come into play tapped.

@@EDH_on_a_Budget after thousands and thousands of games, I can assure you it is a hindrance to even have one land come into play tapped when you don't need it to. Even casual games don't need such drawbacks
@EDH_on_a_Budget7 ай бұрын
@@blaze556922 perhaps we have different definitions of casual. But many casual games I play don’t matter if turn one land is tapped or untapped. Also there are certainly ways to break symmetry. Bounce lands can recur mods spells played as lands, cards that untap lands or permanents are extra strong with bounce spells.

I'm big on tapped lands for buget builds, up to as much as 50/50. Better to play a turn behind than not play at all. Plus, delaying your plays helps you cast a shorter shadow.
@blaze5569227 ай бұрын
@@ms.aelanwyr.ilaicos untapped lands are not expensive. You can run an entire deck without a single tapped land on a budget :)

Cool vid but I wouldn't advise new players do these. No need to play any hate of any kind imo. Especially graveyard hate. The more pieces you dedicate to stopping things your opponents "might" do, the less you are working on your own game plan. You can't stop everything and have to accept that if you try to, you're doing yourself a disservice. We've all had those heavy counter or hate decks that simply can't win. Hindering someone else and using your resources to stop someone puts the other players ahead. Sometimes it's necessary and removal is a must because you're going to have threats to deal with. The key is what removal. Creature removal is a must because that is going to be something that comes up in every game. Graveyard hate only works on a small percentage of decks and you'd need it at the right time. You'll always be better served having something that will help you rather than just attempting to stifle others games. It's also much more fun to focus on your power and what you want to be doing. I like games where everyone gets to do their thing and I win anyway. If not, no biggie. What I can't stand are combos where someone has wasted the entire tables time. When you respect other people, their time, their energy, etc. The game, and life in general, will be much more enjoyable.

I agree that running a heavy Stax/ counter deck is ill advised but not having any answers graveyard threats is going to be a disadvantage many games. Also having targeted land removal is not going to hinder the deck but be an important answer to many land problems. It can be as simple as beast within
@blaze5569227 ай бұрын
@@EDH_on_a_Budget I didn't mention land removal but graveyard threats are only a problem. One in every 10 games for me and you can always stifle or kill that player first if you have to. Graveyard threads are obvious and other players will help you eliminate those threats. Let them use their resources.

@@blaze556922 idk. Many decks can play a Mizzex mastery and win out of nowhere. Sure a living death deck is obvious, but even a zombie deck can set up loops. Many combo decks use the graveyard. I guess I see it as fairly common. And without any form of graveyard interaction makes it impossible to combat.
