We bought a QVC special photo backup gadget years ago that was not compatible with our Android Tracfones. Have read a number of reviews of backup sticks requiring tech savvy, not working as advertised and with compatibility problems.

They are definitely challenging and problematic. I'm hoping you might have found a way to get the photos off the Tracfones. Thank you for watching!

Thankyou. What I am trying to do is transfer photos TO my computer or a stick from my phone withOUT using the cloud. I have the photostick omni, and hoping it will all transfer( now in process) but I think I have more photo and video data on my phone than the stick... Yes, it JUST ran out of space- so How do I empty the photo stick into the computer or onto a larger stick?

You suggested putting all photos into a 'folder' , as in moving them to a document folder? I am confused by the word folder in regards to this process. but i do like the idea of this Folder being backed up when I do my monthly laptop backups. thanks.

Ok! I am glad I found your video. I have been dismayed by the luke warm reviews for photo sticks. All only mention photo and/or video back ups onto a USB drive. I have thousands of photos and every one of them has a caption with date. They have been taken with camera and phone and are currently stored in Google Photos. I wanted to find a program that transfers the photos with captions from Google Photos to an external storage source. Is there anything that can do that...flawlessly? Thanks
@PixologieАй бұрын
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to your dilemma. There is a way to export your photos from Google with Google Takeout. The captions will be saved in JSON files which can be recombined back to your photos with another program. I haven't had to do this myself. . . but I've heard that exiftool or Photo Mechanic can combine JSON files back with photos, so your captions are saved.

Thank you for you honest review, I feel like this product is really unnecessary, and predatory towards older people who are less tech savvy. You could get a USB thumbdrive for your phone that's smaller, and more stylish, or just hook your phone directly to your computer, then to a either a thumb drive, or a flash card. They charge A LOT for what is essentially: A thumbdrive, an adapter, and a dodgy piece of crapper-ware software.

Just got an OMNI (after another photostick I had was a pain and ended up getting damaged) so thanks for this information. I'm definitely nervous about all my photos being on a photostick and then deleting them from my phone given my first experience with one. I'm having the worst of luck. Are you saying you don't recommend using a photo stick and then backing those up to a computer? I'm not understanding the risks if photos are saved to your computer after doing a backup on a photostick. Also, do you not even recommend the Picture Keeper? Thanks
@Pixologie2 ай бұрын
I recommend copying your photos directly from your phone to a folder on your computer. See this video playlist for how to do that again: kzbin.info/aero/PLiPTnYSnq_yhGbkq80bJMLP8a8y5iCpiA Then, back up your photos from your computer to an external hard drive and also to a cloud location like FOREVER. I put the Picture Keeper in the same category as Omni Photo Stick - for the reasons mentioned in the video. Hoping this helps!

Hi SandyLee - Unfortunately, I can't tell you for sure about the light. Doesn't sound good and this is why we never use these. You can go to your file manager program and click on the drive to see its properties or information and that should tell you how much storage is on it and what is left for space. Hoping that this might help. If you tell me what computer you use, I could tell more. Cheers, Mollie

Hi there… you can copy the photos on the stick to another computer. Not sure what order or folders they will be in and the process may vary from the different devices. You could also just copy your photos from the old computer to a regular USB drive and then copy them to your computer. Photos are usually found in the Pictures Folder, Desktop Folders, and sometimes in your Documents, Downloads and OneDrive (if turned on) folders… Hope this helps! Cheers! Mollie

But nowhere can I find how photo sticks classify the photos. Are they in date order? And if so is it American date order or British?
@Pixologie Жыл бұрын
Photo sticks typically classify photos in chronological order, with the most recent ones appearing first. You can change the order in File Explorer. As for the date format, it depends upon your File Explorer and computer settings. I can't speak to British date formats unfortunately. If you have a Mac, it's easiest to view them in order in the Photos app. Hope this helps!

Wow. First thing I don’t like in “advice” videos is presuming that people are stupid and they will lose their equipment or not do back ups. She gave 4-5 reasons why a photo stick is bad and two of them are that you won’t be responsible. The second piece of advice was to go through your photos (all 16000 of them? Really?) and organize them and get rid of duplicates. No way! That’s exactly the time consuming process I want to avoid. No mention of the possibility of your computer crashing, as well as your back-up drive, and losing your files (happened to me years ago) or the iCloud going south for some reason. That’s why I want to get a photo stick! They’re not that expensive and it will be just another back up. I thought she would be doing a review of the Omni Photostick so the title is misleading. I’m thinking she has a different plan/product to advertise here?
