Just a few known issues Ive experienced with all of these vehicles as someone who works in a garage (I'm not a mechanic btw) on the X6 it's sunroof seal and module failure (ECU, abs etc.) On the mercs it's sensors and the air suspension (compressor, bags etc) on the evoque it's just everything (bad headlight wiring, build quality, everything ingenium engine related, fuel injectors, modules, electrical faults, power steering faults) , on the Q7s it's air suspension again and injectors, on the rx450 they're reliable but the services are really, really expensive even from the pov of an independent garage the plugs take well over an hour to do and they're not cheap! Great vid though once again, I remember when you had less than 1k subs JB, well done!

It's such a shame that the rx450 has become so popular due to the ulez compliancy. It used to be possible to pick up a decent pre 2015 model for a good price. Now all that seems to be available is high mileage with dodgy (accident) history.

Had a first generation Cayenne Turbo. I know the styling was a little iffy, but I adored that car notably the seats and ride. Currently own a very modest and old Toyota hatchback which is more enjoyable to drive around London because it is small and nippy. However, with the traffic in London and extra charges for CZ and ULEZ (plus time wasted on admin), constant talks of pay-per-mile, car ownership has become painful and needlessly expensive. I'm finding that Uber/Bolt etc is overall far cheaper than car ownership when factoring in the cost of vehicle and maintenance. You've touched on it before but would be good to have your opinion on the future of car ownership in major cities. Most people talk about the move to electric but I'm more interested in perspectives on private vehicle ownership.

SUVs are stupid for anyone with working hips (with some 7 seat exceptions). Most people are stupid though, so if the aim is to look expensive, the pointlessness of the cars is irrelevant- and people love my car without having a clue about it so I'd be a hypocrite to criticise that aspect of them. That was an overly complicated and philosophical way of saying all the cars on this list will do exactly what the list says ☺ Because they depreciate so well, some of these actually seem good options for luxury at that price too, if not fun. Ignoring running costs, the GL might be my favourite. Edit: Lexus did have a diesel engine- I had one in my IS220d, just an Avensis engine. It pulled well and sounded less awful than most (good turbo whine) but didn't suit Lexus really.
@CarsWithJB2 жыл бұрын
😅 I think you’re correct, but definitely an interesting way of putting it - I’ve never valued cars looking expensive, but I know it’s desirable so gotta give people the option! Re the Lexus - fair point, hadn’t considered the IS’s block

You can't be serious with the X6, everyone i know with, and i mean everyone that had x5/6 they had horrible issues with them, mechanical failures, very expensive, endless money pits, also the X6 is terribly unpractical, just a little bit roomey than a nissan juke. And you completely leaving out the most reliable and practical SUV there, which is the Volvo XC90, also the most safe car in the world, I enjoy your videos but this one feels a bit biased..

G-Wagen fan here as well. It just has a presence. Doesn't matter what engine is in it really. Used to be a Range Rover fan as well, but their horrid reliability turned me off. As much as I love the G-Wagen, I've developed a love for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. OMG what a design!!! Ideally the Quadrifoglio is the preferred option. The Q3 & Q5, esp the latter, are awesome. But while I prefer the current Q3, the older Q5 is better looking and much more flowing than the current.
