Absolutely the best prepping channel on You Tube. Quick, easy, efficient, to the point, no drama. She's raised a family, been a wife, now has grandchildren and did it all in Alaska and even spends time in the rough out at Granny camp. She's a true survivalist and a teacher. Granulated sugar is also a good food to stockpile. You will need sugar if you want to be able to make jams and jellies from wild berries or home-can fruit from a backyard fruit tree or just make simple, frugal desserts from scratch. Desserts are good for morale during hard times. And a little sugar sprinkled on top can motivate a child to eat a bowl of oatmeal porridge when they really prefer to have expensive, sugary, boxed breakfast cereals.

You won't go wrong following AG's advice: white rice, all bean varieties, lentils, split peas, chickpeas, steel cut oats, pasta, spices, herbs, seasoning, bouillon cubes, coconut oil, olive oil, vinegar, cocoa, instant coffee, sprouting seeds, freeze dried or dehydrated veggies and powdered: tomatoes, cheese, peanut butter, butter, eggs, milk, potatoes, etc ... all stored correctly of course. Adding just a little at a time.

If you Google it, you've been eating bioengineered food ( GMO) for quite a while. Laws were only passed several years ago requiring it be put on labels. And just because it doesn't specifically say it doesn't mean it isn't. Those bar codes and phone numbers are ways to indicate GMO use. You have to scan or call to get the info. Clever, right? @@

AG, good point about not letting doom 'n gloom voices all across the web drown out the joy in life. I got to a point with a couple of channels that had gotten so politics-heavy and angry that it was making my otherwise frugal but peaceful life feel heavy. I worked hard for decades and learned a fair amount about how to make the most of my modest income post-retirement so I wouldn't HAVE to worry all the time. Ive done it slowly since summer 2019. It wasnt all at once!!!! And now its a little easier to fill in gaps. Like pasta roni n rice aroni but in several flavors. Same with hamberger helper and walmart artesian mac n cheese. Latter very tasty varietys with a can of chicken or roast beef thrown in. Quick n easy. Edit had one of the walmart artesian mac n cheese tonight with a can of chicken. Enough for at least 3 meals for one person n good enough to eat it in a row!!!!!

Seems my body rejects that. Smart body. 😆 It DOES like lentils and garbonzo beans so - no soy there - lol. Keeping my eye on pasta now, for --- SOY!! Cayenne is also a very good "blood stop". Thank you so much! Like you I dont have a dedicated space for all of my food and supplies. I get envious when I see nice spaces, well organized, and easily accessible. But we do what we can with what we have. I have food and supplies tucked into various spots. Clever and kind of fun to get creative. I try to have some rhyme and reason to it, but frankly I feel disorganized, and my rotating of food is way off. Thankfully dates are "best by" only, and are nearly always (in my experience) always fine several years past the date stamped on it. That being said, I want to do better. So got myself a project coming up. Just added more lentils to my supplies. Big fan, cooks quickly. Versatile. I also have canned varieties, but definitely get more bang for buck with a bag of lentils versus already cooked (great though to have on hand). I wasnt going to add more any time soon, but decided to buy red lentils since I mostly stack green/brownish. Much pricier option, but I found a bulk case for a reasonable price per pound. I get excited to add to my supplies, especially if it is something a little different.

Most valuable takeaway I got from this video was the mental health chat towards the end. I've been prepping for around five years now, so lightweight compared to many others here, and the past year due to financial circumstances have been living off the preps..so yes, prepping *does* work to our advantage no matter what happens. But it's so easy to develop a defeatist mindset, something I've been doing the past year as all my food crops failed for the first time ever. It helps to hear other preppers acknowledge how important it is to live our lives. I've let the gloom and doom steal my peace of mind for so long now but will work on that, like I do with my other preps. Many thanks for this timely reminder AG.

Hi Jeanette. Fishing, particularly fly fishing for trout, both rainbow and brown. Pike is also edible, but big bones, and carp. Pike will require a "lure" as it simulates a wounded fish. Carp are a deep water fish, so you will need a rig for that, but "tiger nuts" they go crazy for.
