It's very suspect when you fail to mention the moog model d and the Oberheim xd app downloads available in the app store.

The fact that the demo at the beginning was dire dire docks from SM64 shows exactly why we love Sweetwater

The ‘Lucky Man‘ solo was not played on a Minimoog but on Emerson‘s Moog Modular System. I don‘t understand why the V-Collection is recommended. It is quantity over quality, sounding *somehow* similar to the originals; most factory patches are drowned in FX to cover up these shortcomings. For a virtual Prophet 5, e.g., u-he Repro-5 is a much more authentic solution.

Nice video. The Arturia Synth Collection is great. Their sound FX collection is good as well.

Thanks for this vid and walk-through of 5 outstanding synths in Arturia's Analog Lab and better yet V-Collection 9 (since you can tweak them all in V-Collection). Some years ago, after I decided I wouldn't play anymore gigs, I sold my Prophet 5 rev. 3, but I've since been playing in a new band and I've begun to miss it quite a bit. HOWEVER, with the Prophets in Analog Lab and esp. V-Collection 9, I miss my P5 a lot less now and am blown away by how much the Prophet-V 5 sounds like my old P5. The Oberheim recreation is also stellar, Jun-6 V and Jup-8 V, and the new Aug Grand Piano pianos are to die for. Shout out to Charlie Davis at Sweetwater who I always hit up for my Sweetwater keyboards and gear.

Stumbled across a "Flashlight" patch for my Korg Monologue then eventually added a MiniMoog soft synth, which eventually led to versions of the DX7 (as I'm currently waiting for a Volca FM2), the Junos, MS-20 and CS-80 as well.

I use U-he Diva for the most part as it covers a lot of ground and sounds fantastic doing it. Pretty much gives you the Roland analogue anthology as well as the Mini Moog and a bunch of other stuff. It has a fully modelled JP8000 oscillator section as well so should be able to take you through all the electronica eras you need up to JP8000. I dare say if you're on a budget and you can only afford one then this is the one to buy. Arturia's stuff is nice too of course but I think the V-collection is a little pricier than the Diva.

Ok, I was ready to throw down on the DIre, Dire Docks thing. But it really does look like Kondo sampled a customized DX7 patch after all for use on the N64. I used the Software Creations tool to make patches for the game Vigilante 8 N64. And gotta admit, learning this about Kondo's technique blows my mind as that remains one of my favorite SM64 song!

Funny thing considering it's coming from the guy that sampled almost all of the korg trinity's sound library to make a part of the iconic DX OST. But seriously, thanks for inspiring me to learn tracker software with all the modules you've released over the years and also, it's always interesting when VGM composers talk how they code their music into games and the software they used

I own the V9 collection and different OB-X emulations the best Jump sound I got was by combining them all. 😉 Obviously you have to do some tweaks and add some effects until the Arturia Jump sound sounds somehow close to the original. Imho best is to add at least chorus delay and reverb, or as I mentioned layer two or more OB-X until the sound is really fat. That‘s at least what I did.

Arturia V (not 5 😉) Collection is a steal in terms of price and acquisition. You basically get a synth museum without the large mortgage. For instance, you get two other synth giants that helped define the 1980s: the Fairlight CMI (called CMI V) and the New England Digital Synclavier (called Synclavier V). The former was famously used by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush while the latter by Frank Zappa and Mike Thorne (producer for Wire, Soft Cell, Til Tuesday). Both were also massively expensive at the time. Now you can get it - with some tasteful enhancements at a fraction of the original list price. I’m looking forward to see what V Collection 10 will bring 😁

I have the V Collection 9, love it. I also have the KeyLab Essentials 88 (that I got from Sweewater). What sold me on V collection, though, was before I even gettisg the Keylab, I had this very old software, Strom 3.0, and I was trying to install it on my old PowerMac (which I kept just for this) after replacing the hard drive. They told me they retired the computers that would create the unlock code, and gave me Analog Lab 4 for my trouble. But Icouldn't settle for just the presets! So I got V Collection and at a discount because I had Analog Lab! But I also have a Motif 6, and a MODX6+ for more modern stuff. Of course, Pigments can also take care of that. But what I can't easily do with V Collection is fade between two synth engines with a pedal, which is something the MoDX/Montage can do.

I have the Arturia Mini V and Clave, also have Synapse Obsession which is a very good emulsion of Obrahim OBXA. Software sythersizors are faster, easier to use, cost 100x less, take up no space, only need a mini keyboard and a half decent computer.

Ive been using Bitwig since they came out, I always felt like my SW reps dismissed Bitwig, to see it featured in this video is a good thing, I really think highly of Sweetwater and Bitwig and it only helps me to see companies like these jiving together IMO. Ive been hoping for this for years, Better later than never.

My first real synth was a Minimoog back in 1976 along with a ARP 2600, but this foolish man sold them and regretted it up to the day I bought a Moog voyager and a Sub 37 that I bought from your store and with my new Matrixbrute and SR16 I am musically freed.

The Arturia "mono"synths lie the Minimoog had a neat feature They could be made inot polysynths. In 1974, who would not have sold their soul for a polyphonic Minimoog" You didn't mention theFairlight. The design team for the Arturia Synclavier included one of the inventors of the original. Imagine having BOTH of them!
