My wife is Turkish and I got to know her Turkish friends. I'm not a native English speaker, so I might me wrong, but I noticed some other mistakes they make all the time: - "ago" vs "earlier": they would say something like "The deadline for my project was in June, but I wasn't stressed as I had already finished it 3 months AGO"; - "time to time" instead of "from time to time". This is maybe because in Turkish they simply say "zaman zaman" (time time); - on the pronunciation side: if there is a vowel+U they would say it as vowel+V (wavy -> veyvy). This is because they literally replace the U with a V in words like Avrupa (Europe). Apart from the pronunciation one, I was so suprised about the consistency of these mistakes! By the way I confirm they tend to omit the article "the". I'm Italian and we have 6 ways to say "the"...
