I hear the most common real issue really is the check engine light for the camshaft sensors which may allow vehicle to start but die with in seconds or may not start at all.

I heard too, but luckily I didn’t have a problem with that when I owned the car. Previous owner could’ve possibly fixed it.

It’s not too many issues an average joe couldn’t fix. The most common issues would most likely be a sensor or a valve cover replacement.

I fixed the issue with the camshaft sensors. If it happens just replace the failed sensor. But beware, the starter motor is usually the next part to fail soon. It's weird but that is how the Z is especially if it just hit 100 thousand miles. The starter motor should last to around 150 thousand miles but if it was over used like starting it around five times a day for many years, then it will die earlier. They normally last around 80,000 clicks in its lifetime.

@@user-ec6xd2ig4c did you use OEM part or did aftermarket sensor work? I also heard that aftermarket doesn’t work pretty much most of the time.

I own 350z, and I recommend checking your oil at the end of every week ... and check it first thing in the morning before starting the motor.

I own a 2005 350z i had a few issues one was the cooling fans died on my so it overheated after that i bought a new raditor and fans after a while my drivers side door outside handle broke i guess the piece inside broke some plastic i got a few upgrades and after gettjng high flow cats one of my cam sensors shit to bed wo i had that replaced FYI the DE VQ has only two cam sensors the Rev up has 4 two on each side

I’m the lucky one my 03 never burned oil I make 26.5 mpg, but the 3 and 5 are grind but if I take gently no problem , I love the Z but the only trash is the oil dipstick.

Yes, very true. I feel like if it didn’t grind 3rd gear then I might’ve enjoyed it a bit more. The dipstick is such a bad design for these DE

First replace timing chain unit and all the sensors special crankshaft sensor and everything else and kp oil check all the time i don't like the standard transmission in the 350z they are crap plus automatic with filter and oil change every year is enough to kp the car running smooth in reality the 350z is a beautiful sport car that can be maintenance with a little bit of money a year plus parts are cheap compared to others cars that really are crap the z is the poor man sport car amigo like the 240z as well the crx for me the z style is beautiful with wider wheels and tires real simple

don't buy any 03-05Z they had the most problems. my 06 does grind in 5th, does burn oil at 60K!, my buddy had problems with fuel gauges and pump but lasted 120K. crankshaft sensors give out 130K. and check the bushings at 70K.

I fixed all the small mechanical issues on my Z. That OEM window motor that's also crappy and makes the window go down half way only, that steering wheel clock spring that gets messed up easily and makes the horn sound intermittent as you drive and rotate the steering wheel, those powerseat switches that becomes intermittent and makes the seatback and the seats not move forward and backwards, that weak OEM lift support on the hatchback that easily gets worn out and becomes ridiculously loose and causes the hatch to fall on your head... Ouch!!! I also replaced the springs with heavy duty aftermarket springs that make the hatch pop open. The OEM lift support and springs on the hatch are both super crappy. Will last a few months and gets very loose and won't keep the hatch propped open. What a rip off. The heavy duty aftermarket parts solved the problem. And also if you are the passenger, that door latch breaks easily so do not pull the door latch at the same time the driver is hitting the door unlock switch. That will damage the inner workings of the door latch especially the cable connection. These are the most annoying parts of the old 350z.

Just some people. I don’t really care to show off my whip to anyone. It’s just a 350z. I just wanted to state out some points just so new drivers won’t get into these and spend tons of money to fix it while they’re broke etc. but thank you though I do understand from you point of view too lol

It’s not just a 350z it’s thee one and only fairlady 350z designed by a woman and drove by a man. 350z was presented in one of the most iconic movies of the year, Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift. Everyone wanted a 350 and even more now . Never depreciate a cars value KBB third parties value these cars at 7-8 thousand , note it’s a 2003-2004 . Might arguably be the best cars without too many crazy electrical wiring systems and sensors .

@@kobythompson3206 You can find one for under $10k. HR is the way to go, if you go for a 350. DE is just trash and slow. Frs/brz is also a better daily in general. The 350z could possibly be a great drift car etc. I’m not being bias, I’ve owned these 2 cars, first hand experiences and I will take the frs/brz over this de any day. Driving experiences is just way better. But possibly 370z 👀 need to test it out first.

Even the new 400z can’t beat the gr86 on track 💀 Nissan just need to step their game up. Data doesn’t lie. Miata didn’t even beat the new gr too 😂 same chassis etc lol
