Glad that you clarified the verticality thing. With the way fouls get called these days, it's almost impossible for a defender to stand their ground.

That one is important, “you may be moving on the charge as long as the contact is in the torso“ as the main defender...

Hi,I have a question : Is it a foul call when jumping vertically in your cylinder but not having both hands up i.e one hand up and one to the side (not encroaching the offensive player space)? Thanks
@refereeuniversity2 жыл бұрын
Still legal unless the hand that is outside your cylinder causes contact. Any contact that occurs when the defender is in their cylinder: Legal, any contact outside the cylinder: Potential for a defensive foul

Great video! Question, when a player who is awarded free throws from a common foul but is injured and substitute takes free throw, is that injured player allowed to renter the game at a later point?
@refereeuniversity2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If substitute takes the Free Throws, the injured player and the substitute are not allowed to be subbed until 1 tick comes off the game clock. Meaning the game clock has to be started after the free throw before they can sub at the next dead ball

Are new rules considerate in this video ?? Cilinder and act of shooting are updated.
@refereeuniversity4 жыл бұрын
Good question. The new rules are covered in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5jKdalmYpV7fLc. Those updates do not affect the rules discussed here.

Nothing to be sorry for :) I am a little confused, what needs to be reviewed? Act of shooting and offensive cylinder are not discussed in this video or required for the mistaken rule.

Hi, I have one question about rebounding my own air all. Is that a travel violation?

As long as it is a valid shot attempt and you are not passing to yourself.
@petermuller70793 жыл бұрын
@@refereeuniversity That is the most mistaken rule (maybe second after inadvertend kick ball) i face. '..but the ball didn't touch the rim!' 'It doesn't have to.' 'What? So i could pass the ball to myself?' 'No. You have to attempt a shot.' 'You can't prove i didn't try to shoot.' 'Do you think HE didn't try to shoot for the basket?' 'No - he clearly tried....' 'So what's the point?' ....

Hang on, in the contact with verticality examples, if it's not a blocking foul on the defender, is it a charge foul on the offence, or play on? Say for the clip at 4:30 where the defender is clearly outside the no charge semicircle. Not sure if his feet are exactly in the legal guard position, but let's say they are. Legal guard, defender jumps vertically, ball handler contacts - offensive foul?
@refereeuniversity Жыл бұрын
It is a play on, contact is minor and offense did not extend out of their cylinder. Yes, they are responsible for the forward motion contact but this is a play on situation IMO
@adeloum8 ай бұрын
I'm also perplexed about this defense at 4:30. Yes he stayed in his cylinder but he got the contact on the side of his body. He has no longer faced the player in front of him. I would take the call 🤔

Question: is it a foul when you jump vertically in your cylinder and have both hands up vertically but the offensive player shoots and the way he shoots causes your hand to hit his hand?
@larrabie74362 жыл бұрын
You're cylinder extends all the way vertically. As long as you do not move your hands outside of your cylinder and you are entitled to that space on the court (e.g occupied that space first and were not advancing towards the player with the ball) then any contact is caused by the offensive player, as they have caused the contact by exiting their own cylinder and entering yours. If there is significant contact then a charge could be justified.

Hi sir I found some videos about out of bounds. Can you review attached links and provide feedback? Thanks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zn-3ipaNarR1l8U kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6i9foiPgJh5jKM My opinion is different than video results. There is a situation. When you play street ball, if no teammate around and you are under press. Sometimes the player will throw the ball to hit opponents feet to keep obsessing. But if opponents feet are already out, I think such move didn’t work, right? Anyway, thanks for your sharing rules explanation. Have a good day.

Both videos are legal plays and resulting in out of bounds. It would be Art 23.1.2 ball touches a player or any other person who is out of bounds. Video linked for more information: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opmcp5R7ZbKgebM
