I truly appreciate FIBA's immense effort with the rule updates year after year. They continue to make the game better by refining and improving the rules in step with the times. But damn they really need to get an experienced, native-English-speaking copy editor to overhaul their shit.

Well thanks so much for this video bro I have one question for you: 18:54 If HC or player dont leave game for 30 sec . What to do next? Give time-out for that team? Or give the B? And I have August Fiba webinar video, If you need I can share this.
@refereeuniversity2 ай бұрын
Great question, I haven’t found anything currently on it (maybe it will be in the new OBRI to accommodate this new text in the rules). I would imagine it would be the officials judgement to use tools at their disposal. A timeout is reserved for smaller infractions of a delay, I imagine in this case since a DQ is more severe, they would look at delay of game technicals or potential OBR 20.1 actions prevent the game from being played that could have the team forfeit.
@mindaugasbalsys83012 ай бұрын
@@refereeuniversity Bro I think I found this Rule: Article: 19 19.3.6 Substitutions shall be completed as quickly as possible. A player who has committed 5 fouls or has been disqualified must be substituted immediately (taking no more than 30 seconds). If there is a delay of the game, a time-out may be charged against the offending team. If the team has no time-out remaining, a technical foul for delaying the game may be charged against the head coach, entered as a 'B'.

Sir i hav a question-Is there any 10 second rule is implemented in new version of FIBA rule? Specifically when 1,2,3 free throws are awarded to any player.
@mindaugasbalsys83012 ай бұрын
@@mukundsinghnegi8373 If I understand correctly. The shooter is delay of the Free throw ,the Lead referee puts the ball on the line , the Trail referee counting 5 sec for the delay the free throw ,if its violiation B team gets the ball from the Sideline. If the player A is bouncing the ball and delay the game its the same, Trail counting 5 sec if this violiation B team gets the ball from the Sideline. Article: 14 14-2 from Interpratation And rule: 43.2.3

question. I may be getting it mixed up with NFHS. In NFHS A1 gets two fts if fouled- intentional or flagrant. So A1 shoots, fouled- not common. Makes the shot, still gets two shots. If unsuccessful still gets two shots. Or 3 on a 3 pointer. In FIBA, if same thing happens but if A1 makes the shot, gets unsportsmanlike foul. Is it an and 1 situation? Or is it count the basket and two free throws like NFHS?
@refereeuniversityАй бұрын
Thanks for the question! If they have an unsportsmanlike foul on a made shot (2pt or 3pt), it’s only one shot (an and1) and they get possession of the ball. Hope that helps

Nope, Free Throw Shooter has 5 seconds to attempt the free throw when it’s at their disposal

Rule 43.2.3 "Release the ball within 5 seconds after it is placed at the disposal by the referee." ie: take the shot within 5 seconds. Same for offence in-bounding the ball from off court (Rule 17.3.1)

Thank you for the video. I enjoy the channel. Question as I'm not 100% sure. In the first quarter. A1 gets fouled common shooting foul. But A2 goes to the line- permits situation. If A2 makes both free throws. Then the refs realize the mistake. So do they cancel the Fts, and give team B the ball? So A1 never shoots the fts? Also, when is the error correctable. Say A2 makes both, or misses the second. Live ball or in bounded. until when can the refs correct the mistake of A2 shooting the fts?
@refereeuniversity2 ай бұрын
If the referee permits the situation, you are correct, cancel the free throws and give the ball to team B. The referee's can correct it all the way till the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter. Does that help?
@lpbreeze1415Ай бұрын
@@refereeuniversity Yes, thanks. Not counting situations when players for some reason might get confused and the wrong person goes to the line, or when a ref calls the wrong person over. Am I correct, that if a team, intentionally sends the wrong person to the line. A1 is fouled, but A2 goes. Then cancel the made FT if there is one, waive off the fts, and give the ball to Team B ft line extended? As a ref, sometimes a better ft shooter will try to sneak in. I just waive them off and say No, the other person is shooting. And I will do that or maybe call a delay a game. But from my reading of the rules, if this happens, and the ref bounces the ball to the wrong FT shooter who shoots. then the ref can waive off the FTs and give the ball to team B and no FTs at all even though team A got fouled on a shooting attempt. If I am reading that right please let me know. My reading is that there has to be at least one FT attempt. For example, if A2 trys to sneak in for A1. Team lines up for ft, ref bounces the ball to A2. But then realizes wrong shooter. A1 should still be able to shoot Fts. But can I call delay of game of Team A for that? That's my reading of it. But it also goes into what is an attempt? If A2 releases the ball, that is a clear attempt. But if A2 has the ball and has not shot it, then is that at attempt? I would say no even though the intent is there for A2 to shoot in A1 place but in that situation A1 should still be allowed to shoot the FTs.
@refereeuniversityАй бұрын
@@lpbreeze1415 It is hard to determine if they intentionally sent the wrong shooter to the line, you could make an educated guess by looking at factors like when the foul was called: was that player close to the situation, did they send their best shooter...however, my current knowledge and understanding is they deal with it the same way regardless, if the wrong player goes to the line and they were not direct by the referee, cancel the free throws and throw-in at Free Throw line extended due to the violation occurring at the Free Throw line. If you know they are sending the wrong shooter prior to the Free Throws, you can and should just correct it :) If you know they are doing it on purpose, I would definitely let them know to not do it. Yes, you can take away everything they are entitled to on the penalty (even possession of the ball!). An attempt would be the release of the ball from the Free Throw shooter, if they did not release the ball, then an attempt has not occurred. You could use a delay of game due to the reasoning they are delaying the game by doing that, it is not required or mentioned in the correctable errors. I hope that answers all of the questions, if I missed something, let me know!
@lpbreeze1415Ай бұрын
@@refereeuniversity Thanks yes that's what I will do. Best to do more preventive and not take away fts from a team unless called for. Delay of game, or just get the right FT shooter in. But yes there could be a situation when the FTs are taken away.
