I'd not heard of the omnitonic horn. Working out the fingering from the mindset of a valve horn must have been fiendishly challenging. My mind is now officially blown!

Yes! It was a really interesting process. Luckily Chaussier wrote a "Notice explicative pour les nouveaux instruments en ut" (which you can find here: s9.imslp.org/files/imglnks/usimg/5/52/IMSLP569481-PMLP917846-Notice_explicative_pour_les_nouveaux_-...-Chaussier.pdf) which was a helpful starting point as it includes a finger chart! Also my colleagues Ulrich Hubner and Claude Maury have done some excellent work on this puzzle which you can find here core.ac.uk/download/pdf/337597297.pdf and here www.citedelamusique.fr/pdf/insti/recherche/colloques_factures/maury_75_102.pdf It was interesting learning the new fingerings as suggested by Chaussier but also trying to identify sections that worked well as a natural horn as there are many many different choices that you can make, I often ended up changing my mind and having to rub out and re-write in fingering or indications to use natural horn technique! Massively complicated! 🤯
