Of course I worked with all of them because we are all human and flawed. I have probably even exhibited behavior of all of them from time to time. I try not to but I am human too. The difference is that I tend to focus on getting my work done well and not on ladder climbing. Ladder climbing has a tendency to get you to the top where you are the most likely to fall off when they shake the ladder. All this garbage started to happen at work when top management stopped looking at performance and good character and started to accept those who played the game of work well. Lets face it I am just tired of having to go to work because its just not the best way to earn a living but I am too old to start over. Just got fired thanks to a Rachel who made up a bunch of stuff about me/made false reports. Sucks because I cried to her about how people were treating me at work. Turns out she was banding together with other coworkers to push me out of the company just because I didn’t fit in and didn’t want to sit around gossiping with them over lunch, etc.
@linda-brookethompson53452 жыл бұрын
I left this comment on another video and will share here so u know ur not alone: I got fired one time for not "fitting in". All because the "head bitch" ( the girl who had been there the longest, knew everything, and even used a coffee cup that said "queen bee" on it) didn't like me. Bad thing is she was suuuuper nice to me for like the first week or two and we laughed and everything was great. She flipped and did a 180 om me out of the blue and literally started making up stuff that I never said or did and I was attacked by her, the boss and another coworker (attacked meaning confronted randomly about these things I did not do). After about a month working there the boss took me aside and in an overly sweet and fake voice told me I just didn't fit in. I told her what a bitch that other girl was and they could have the shit show, I didn't want a part in it lol

I was let to research and list things I find and id complete the task within 2/3 hours. I dont fit in with most companies and just got hired after going back to college ( not easy I cant find a much better job as there arent many jobs) I also intend to continue my studies. I realise I dont fit it because most have low IQ in some type of jobs and it motivates me to continue my studies. I am about to be fired but I did nothing really . I dont care as so far im getting paid and I have to wait. They thought I d fit in but I dont. I dont drink and they sure all do. I just dont want to work again I think. If I had money , I d have remained in the university full time and even. do a phd . Its totally ridiculous in fact to work and the people you are surrounded with are really the bottom of society. Thats the reality and there are videos about it from a PTPOP , he talked about call centers but any customer service job is similar and they are the easiest to get but a lot of other jobs have fancy titles and are more or less a customer service job. I dont even want to be around most of these people. Thank god fr the covid/remote working .

Me too! Ive been branded so many names. I just laugh at it now. As introverts, we’re quite powerful. We are excellent at reading people and seeing right through them. We dont react, we think. Were smart in all senses and wise. We pick our friends carefully. We dont need an audience, we are very secure and content to work on our own. With all this being said, is it any wonder that in a world full of insecure extroverts that we get attacked by these people? Nope. These toxic people are so consumed by jealousy that they dont even know this is why they dislike the introverts. I also now work 99% from home. Pure bliss and im loving it. I no longer have to entertain these ppl and give them they attention they crave.

Before COVID I had a lot of fun staying up late at the office working with my friends as we solved problems together, and I also admire them because they're hella smart. I was told once about this guy who worked there before I was hired who was incredibly rude to workers, he yelled at someone for not being able to complete a nearly impossible deadline he had given and the toxic guy got fired the day after. The only time I had to deal with a toxic person in the company was a girl who, I have no idea under which type she falls into according to this video, but when she joined I started having problems with my co-workers whom I had gotten along with all the time. We would argue a little, they'd have a bad attitude towards me, etc. This girl even said on more than one occasion that she learnt to be a bully or else she would be the one to get bullied. I guess it takes many different personalities to run a company. The key is to learn how to manage these people and use them to your advantage. I try to do just that, staying as neutral as possible. I've been called a "silent player" at work, due to that. However, I have no problem addressing bad behavior directed towards me. The Adult Voice, lowering my glasses and looking over them at the offender with heavy eye contact work well for me. I guess that's the former military officer coming out in me. LOL

Working with all of them currently. Fortunately I work remotely so not having to deal with any of them face to face. It helps to know who you're dealing with though and at least I know I can't trust any of them. Really wanna get to self-employment. I'd honestly take the financial insecurity over dealing with office politics for the rest of my life.

I knew I was working with a male(Avery) when I had to present a code to my boss and he had purposely went in and removed a very important piece of the code. I’m sweating in front of my boss trying to figure out why it wasn’t working, and here comes Avery to save the day and perfectly tell me in front of everyone where the mistake was. We talked about it after and he played it off like they were trying to prank me, but after that day I knew who he was. Stay Focused!

Sergeant. I work with a lot of former military members whose modus operandi learned in the military, is to get someone else to do their work the tell the boss "I have Fred doing this, Julie is doing that, and Bob is doing this" and they do nothing while the coworkers do double and triple their normal workload.

Great video! I work for the government. We don't have Chads, but we have managers that are here because of their connections with politicians. They're not handsome, but know how to promote themselves, and usually have traits of the others coworkers you need to avoid.

So relatable and spot on! I try to be supportive of anyone having a hard time at work but listening and nodding can be turned into yourself being perceived as an instigator. Just say something positive about the company and walk away-quickly and quietly!

I’ve worked with all 5. I work with a ton of Averys because managers liked that at my company. I’ve also felt the urge to be each of these personas but want to be something better.

Agree with this video. I still trying to find a video on how to "re-structure" supervisors and managements, as they seem to let the front line employees do a bad job. The owners of the company get one story from manager and the stats from front line employees tells a less flattery story.

First is I think a mixture of Avery and Patty who was the product manager I had to take orders from who just kept gossiping about me with other colleagues. I just couldn't take it so I left the company (its just a part time contract job) apparently after I left, she told everybody I chouldn't do the job that's why I left. Second person is a Rachel .... who was an ex-college mate who worked with me for many years. I helped her alot and paid her alot during her difficult times, but when I was in difficulty she didn't offer the same level of help that I gave her in the past as if she's hoarding all the work. I'm just not good with all this socializing and working with other people, now I work alone at home doing my own thing.

I'm dealing with a female version of Nick AND Avery. The love-child of the two, I guess. It's been a challenge not to react so unfortunately, I have done so in a low-key manner. The only thing that keeps me sane are my other coworkers who see through this person's bs and can't stand her either. It's a kind of camaraderie. It's too bad that every workplace seems to have a bad apple in the bunch. I get along with 98% of the group but there always has to be at least one or two people who male life hard for everyone else. It's the equivalent of sitting down to your favorite meal and then finding a pube on it. (I don't think I need to say which coworker is the pube.) It's beyond disgusting and frustrating.

I had the pleasure of working with an Avery before. As someone usually more on the understatement side of things that experience taught me that modesty may be a virtue, but it really doesn't pay. I didn't find out until way later that the Avery's constant (and often obviously untrue, e.g. when claiming significant participation in translation work in a language they didn't even speak) overstatement and my general understatement lead our superiors to believe Avery was way more competent then me. It was a brutal lesson, but I'm glad to have learned it early.

My husband was her boss when we first started at our job (in healthcare) and within the first week she went over his head to file a complaint against me to upper management. I just resigned a Toxic workplace after 8 months of daily walking through a Negativity Vortex. After I immediately resigned, I felt an 800 pound weight leave my psyche. I’m going to take this one-day as a pity party and move on starting tomorrow. I can do NOTHING about yesterday. Yes. Those people. Worked everyday with a psychopath. I’m not a doctor and I can’t diagnose, but THAT guy was a non-emotional user that had to torment me for his own gratification. So much NEGATIVE ENERGY, but constantly told me he was a Good Religious Person. Good People show Good Fruit. His “fruit” was rotten. My Boss was WEAK. He didn’t stop any of it and even participated in it everyday. It was Open-Season on me. I was super productive and customers called ME. My co-workers hated my success, so they daily tried to tear me down emotionally. They even called me Fat in front of customers. Whatever it took to kill me emotionally and ruin my sales. When I started out producing one of the salesmen, he got in my face and warned me there would be consequences if I “outsold” him. He proceeded to show me his Glock 40 and wave it around in my face. That made me even more determined to beat his ass in sales. Guns don’t scare me, as I keep mine hidden and legally out of the workplace. But, that was a decisive moment when I decided to ignore him and keep my distance. Tomorrow is a NEW DAY. I’m glad that I got to learn exactly what a Toxic Environment is and I can now more easily recognize it earlier on. Thanks to you ! I made the decision to leave. :)

Worked with all of them except Chad, but I think there is a Chadina at my current job. Highly educated (looks like family money) no experience in anything relevant or even in the office environment immediately made manager upon hire. As for me, definitely been a Rachel once. I need to do better. I liked the other coworker as a person but as a coworker she was awful. Only came in 60% of the time, 3/5 days a week, but got paid 100% for 5/5 days. Always had a dumb impossible excuse why she was 4 hours late for work. We had the same job title I had to do her work and mine and I deeply resented it because she wasn't carrying her load and I had no power to say no to her workload which I had to do in her place. However this video helped me see I didn't act professionally. I left that place quickly and I'm no longer a Rachel.

One coworker personality you didnt mention is Jim... Jim is much like Nick , HOWEVER ,when you try to tell him and gain his coworker sympathay about How HARD things are at home or why getting your job done at work is so hard because of family/kid problems,Jim replies "Well,I dont have any kids,dont have any personal issues , AND TRULY GET MY JOB DONE REGARDLESS OF WHATEVER ! Well, Jim is obviously not the person at work you should try and lean on.HE GETS HIS JOB DONE ON TIME,PUTS IN HOURS,AND ONLY WANTS MONETARY COMPENSATION THATS TO BE EXPECTED FOR SERVICES PROVIDED. You dont want Jim for a friend because he wont stick up for you when youre less than acceptable in performance. He greets everyone and replies when asked "how are you?" says " my life is perfect and its a wonderful day !" when thats truly impossible. You see, Jim gets things done,doesnt use excuses,too busy in his own world to gossip, and is far smart enough to NOT tell the truth to everyone about his personal life. Afterall, who wants to listen to negative bs anyway? right? Be Jim, Be smart,Be successful, and be on your way home after work everyday instead of happy hour.
