Lyle Cooper doesn’t even look like he’s breaking a sweat playing it either. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone play something of this level and just look bored doing it 😂 That being said, Alex Rudinger is utterly unstoppable when it comes to emulating styles. The linear fill he does on “When a Demon Defiles a Witch” blows my mind every time. It’s not even in the original song, but when you hear it, it’s absolutely beautiful.
@Exalt92
@Exalt92 4 жыл бұрын
The weird thing about Alex is the precision and the style he adds to the song. I can play this song. Note for note. But when I play it, I have to give it EVERYTHING I've got and it feels like a monstrous achievement every time I get it done, no matter how often I do it. He just kicks it out like its nothing. Like he has five layers of drumming BEYOND what he plays in that song, which is already incredible. I have never seen someone play a song, that I can actually play, do it that much better than me and I can't even explain how or why. I love and hate this guy. And wish him all the best for it. Because he is really one of "those" drummers. Someone who transcends the normal plains of "being good" and just goes on to be an open handed god of the set.
@GeorgeTsiros
@GeorgeTsiros 2 жыл бұрын
you really think he is not giving it his all? by the time he's done, he is red and sweating of _course_ he is performing at the absolute best of his ability. what do you think "oh, i'm recording a track? 's cool then, i'm only going to try a little bit, then, no point wasting effort" you serious?
@Exalt92
@Exalt92 2 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeTsiros Im not talking about physically giving it his all. Thats a given with that type of music, no way around it. Its the way he plays. Its hard to describe but he just plays this type of music without "mental" effort, like other drummers would play a simple rock song. It doesn't sound rigid or simply memorized. It just flows. There are not many drummers in metal who can produce this type of sound and flow at such high speeds.

You’re right! I’m a drummer; don’t care for much heavy music though, and I agree that a lot of technical drummers are impressive but lack musicality to make them interesting. Alex makes robotic like playing appear effortless and his fills make the whole performance compelling. I think most non musicians would be entertained just watching him alone and would be able to appreciate his skill, compared to a lot of other drummers!

I love when civilians realize just how talented and good at your instrument you have to be to play metal. Granted, not all bands are Meshuggah or Nile, yes, but extreme metal is (always has been) far from being just noise. Good to see people from other walks of life (lol) getting their jaws dropped by what we've been listening and watching for a long time.

@@boblarry7879 Oh man, I don't even know what to say. Normally I'd say "agree to disagree", but I really think you should reconsider and watch some more Sebastian Lanser. He's an incredible, versatile drummer and I find him to be more dynamic and nuanced than Alex. Maybe check out some of his older work with Panzerballett. It's a kind of jazz-funk-metal fusion so it may not be your thing, but it shows some great versatility. Check out Bird Wild Web and Zehrfunk to start. It would be a shame if you missed out on such a great drummer. I've always found Diepold impressive too, but for different reasons.

I would HIGHLY recommend watching Lyle Cooper play one of the tracks off of the Planetary Duality album. He's the guy that actually wrote the drums and played them during that time period. He was so uncanny to watch and the drum parts he wrote were so insane that there were multiple videos from crazy christians using videos of Lyle playing as "proof" that demon posession is real. Im not even kidding. Alex nails it perfectly of course but if you wanna see "not human" you owe it to yourself to watch Lyle play it. Here's a good one but you can just search for "Lyle Cooper The Faceless" to find whatever song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJuviaunn52jqdE
