Lyle Cooper doesn’t even look like he’s breaking a sweat playing it either. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone play something of this level and just look bored doing it 😂 That being said, Alex Rudinger is utterly unstoppable when it comes to emulating styles. The linear fill he does on “When a Demon Defiles a Witch” blows my mind every time. It’s not even in the original song, but when you hear it, it’s absolutely beautiful.

The weird thing about Alex is the precision and the style he adds to the song. I can play this song. Note for note. But when I play it, I have to give it EVERYTHING I've got and it feels like a monstrous achievement every time I get it done, no matter how often I do it. He just kicks it out like its nothing. Like he has five layers of drumming BEYOND what he plays in that song, which is already incredible. I have never seen someone play a song, that I can actually play, do it that much better than me and I can't even explain how or why. I love and hate this guy. And wish him all the best for it. Because he is really one of "those" drummers. Someone who transcends the normal plains of "being good" and just goes on to be an open handed god of the set.

@Exalt922 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeTsiros Im not talking about physically giving it his all. Thats a given with that type of music, no way around it. Its the way he plays. I'm currently trying to learn this song and other bits of Planetary Duality. Lately I feel I've made a lot of progress on my blasts and incorporating open-handed left-hand lead playing. A month ago I upped the spring tension on my kick pedal and started wearing light running shoes. I've always felt more comfortable in socks but since I don't use a kick trigger at these kind of tempos you need all the help you can get with pedal travel/momentum! Not to mention the prep I need for a practice session in terms of calories!!! man it's a workout... All the respect in the world for these guys capable of this material, Alex is very inspiring to me since he's also self taught like I am.

I would HIGHLY recommend watching Lyle Cooper play one of the tracks off of the Planetary Duality album. He's the guy that actually wrote the drums and played them during that time period. He was so uncanny to watch and the drum parts he wrote were so insane that there were multiple videos from crazy christians using videos of Lyle playing as "proof" that demon posession is real. Im not even kidding. Alex nails it perfectly of course but if you wanna see "not human" you owe it to yourself to watch Lyle play it. Here's a good one but you can just search for "Lyle Cooper The Faceless" to find whatever song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJuviaunn52jqdE

This is an underrated drummer. His fast basses and blast beats are so fluid and musical. I don't know enough from my 25 years of drumming to complement all the things he does amazingly!

Oh this video is very delicious! 😎 This guy is a damn good drummer that's tasty and clean but you got to give respect to the original drummer behind these parts... Lyle Cooper! 💪 And Johannes Grossman a visit too as one of the innovators of this style in metal ☺️

Calling Alex Rudinger an Alien is the most ironic thing you could have described him as. This whole band was obsessed with Area 51 and alien conspiracies and “alien” is literally the embodiment of the sound they went for on this album.

@@AndrewRooneyDrums Can't wait! Another suggestion, if you're into broader percussion, is Gavin Harrison's 'Cymbal Song', be interested to know what you made of it and if you would have a crack at making one yourself?
