I like the extended single crochet stitch and the second one you showed( I can’t remember the name!). I’m making a Scrubbies kind of wash cloth but using a stiff multicolored yarn that’s good for, yup, scrubbing! It’s hard to see the stitches so with the second option I couldn’t visualize the stitch below. Thanks for your video tutorial! You really simplified the entire process.

I'm trying to work out a border for a poncho I am making..I want to do twisted tassels but I needed something in between the edge and the tassel...I like the idea of your extended single crochet as perhaps the first row, then perhaps a row of double crochet and then the tassel row..as it is a poncho for a man (son) I didn't want anything frilly..
@CraftersAutonomous5 ай бұрын
That's a great idea! I recently used the extended single crochet on a project for that exact same reason, didn't want the project to be too frilly. I'm repairing a swimsuit top by replacing the fabric with crochet since the original fabric had dry rotted. But I didn't want it too lacy and looking like lingerie instead of a swimsuit 😆 So I used the extended sc to give a clean border and extra detail without looking frilly. I like your idea of using that as the first round of the border and then widening it with double crochet. I'm sure your son will appreciate the poncho!

I am so happy to have found this tutorial. I am making my first single crochet baby blanket and I somehow lost and gained stitches, so my two long edges are a bit zigzag and uneven. Which of the five stitched would you suggest to help hide this problem?
@CraftersAutonomous3 жыл бұрын
If it were me, I would probably do the shell/ruffle stitch. Since this stitch already has some texture along the edge, it would likely help disguise the unevenness. Also, it's totally normal to lose or gain stitches on those first few projects. With every project, you will improve and be able to crochet lots of wonderful things!

Hello! Thank you! Do you have a video for making the little blue basket?
@CraftersAutonomous4 жыл бұрын
I don't have a video for it, but this should be a close approximation: Chain 3, slip stitch in 1st ch to form a ring R1: ch 1, 6 sc in ring, sl st to join round R2: ch 1, sc increase 6 times, sl st to join R3: ch 1, *sc inc, sc* 6 times, sl st to join R4: ch 1, *sc inc, 2 sc* 6 times, sl st to join R5: ch 1, *sc inc, 3 sc* 6 times, sl st to join R6: ch 1, *sc inc, 4 sc* 6 times, sl st to join At this point you might see the pattern emerging. Each row, work one more sc between the increases than in the previous round. Once it's as big as you want, just work sc evenly around. Depending on tension, the rounds with increases will theoretically be a flat circle, and then once you swap to working sc evenly it will form the sides of the basket. Again this is just an approximation for the basket, but hopefully it's close! Let me know if you have any questions.

When working a border for a blanket, how many stitches do I put in each corner? I’m thinking of doing the ruffle stitch or the extended single crochet
@CraftersAutonomous Жыл бұрын
Great question! If I'm working with single crochet, I typically put 3 sc into each corner. (With double crochet, 5 seems to do the trick.) For the extended single crochet, personally I would work 5 single crochet into the corner, and not work it extended. With the ruffle, it would depend a little bit on how I'm lined up when I get to the corner. I would either put a ruffle into the corner, or else line it up so the skipped stitch between ruffles was the corner. Partly it depends on what you are working on, how you line up when you get to the corner, and what look you prefer. But at the end of the day, there's not a right or wrong way to work the corner of a border. I always recommend playing around a little bitter with different options so you can find what you personally like best!

#3: Crab Stitch (6:49) Left handed crocheters 😱🤯 Really had fun reversing this stitch in my head
@CraftersAutonomous3 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I bet that's confusing! Were you able to get it figured out? It feels so weird when learning (and I say this as someone who was able to watch other righties when learning! haha), but once you complete the stitch correctly once or twice it kinda clicks and you'll know you did it correctly.

Will any of these borders work on a Feather and Fan afghan?
@CraftersAutonomous3 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to a blanket with an "ripple" along the edge? (sorry, I'm not familiar with the Feather and fan afghan 😄) But if that's the case, I think these could be adapted with some minor adjustments. What I would try is to first do a round of single crochet evenly as a set up round, and maybe add some extra stitches at the "peaks" along the edge to get over that curve. And then when I work the actual border into the set up round, I would see if I needed extra stitches in the "peaks" of that round as well.
@lindatreend2543 жыл бұрын
@@CraftersAutonomous Thanks so much for your thorough explanation. I'm making a blanket from an Ophelia Talks KZbin tutorial with the feather and fan stitch which has waves and ripples.
@donnacreativeblessings4098 Жыл бұрын
I thought the third stitch was called a reverse single crochet. Thats what it reads in the blanket I'm presently working on. Well, one of the blankets. I love that stitch as a border as well. I am stuck at the moment. There is a section of the blanket that calls for a row of crab stitches (reverse single crochet) then for the next row, it says to single crochet into the back of the stitch, but I cannot figure out where I should be inserting my hook. 😫
@CraftersAutonomous Жыл бұрын
I think I've heard it called a reverse single crochet as well! Hmm I not exactly sure where they're wanting you to insert your hook. When I encounter something like that in a pattern, I usually just make up what I think is close enough and if I like the way it looks I just go for it!
