Yooo, just ran across your vids. Gotta say, you're pretty much on point about the city. Love it out here so far, moved here from LA in Feb. 1. Summer ain't as bad as the locals tell you it is. 2. Everyone is nice 3. everyone doesn't own a truck, boots, and cowboy hats 4. bomb ass food 5. No state income tax. You being from NY, I know you must have loved that. The thing that impressed me the most about Texas in general is how well the state is run without all of the taxation like CA and NY.

Im black. I've live in Dallas most of my life. My experience with racism mirrors yours. I don't think Dallas is any more or less racist than any other place. I've never felt uncomfortable in Dallas. I've lived here for over 30 years. There is a wide variety of people in Dallas. Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indian, Middle Eastern. I don't equate racism with political persuasion, but Dallas County is 65% Democrat. There are people of all political persuasions in the DFW metroplex. People that have never been here seem to think that everyone in Texas has the same political beliefs. There is racism here.....but you always have to be aware of your surroundings. If you go out to the sticks, don't be surprised that there might be people out there that don't like non white people. That holds true for any state in the United States. That is not unique to Texas. The last three times I've experienced blatant racism it was in "Blue" States (San Diego, Boston, Pennsylvania). A person here in Texas might have those exact same racist thoughts....but they would probably just keep it to themselves for one or two reasons: 1. Texans are generally polite...and blatant racism is rude 2. You might get your ass kicked if you are seen as stepping out of line, or blatantly disrespecting someone There are racial issues here in Dallas, TX.................but most people just want to mind their own business.

I’m from Brooklyn NY and live in the DFW area (and a vegan) so I enjoy your vids, but this one is definitely caught my attention. To your viewers - if they don’t have a car - they can also rent a car if they ever need one (I have a car but rented one before for about $25 per day). People in my community carpool to work as well! The most adjusting I’ve had to made is making specific trips to go grocery shopping - whereas in NY - I’d just walk on a random occasion and not needing to plan my day around going.

It's always funny to me when my people ask about racism or more correctly racial prejudice. Stop being worried about prejudice. Live your life and stop defining yourself based on who likes or dislikes you. The only time you should be concerned about racial prejudice is when someone physically attacks you because of your race. Which doesn't happen too often and you have the right to end such threats with deadly force if necessary. America will always be racist because you have different races (Nations/tribes) living amongst each which will always cause tension!

Ok, so I am Texas born and brewed, and I can tell you right now, he's 100% right about these things. If you live in downtown Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Austin, or Houston you can get by with public transportation/Uber. But having a car is still preferable. Everything is a drive. The weather is warm year-round usually. It gets chilly for 2 months and that's it. The weather will change on you in a heartbeat though. It could be 30 degrees one day and 75 the next. People do NOT dress in cowboy fashion in the city. You probably won't see cowboy hats and boots until you're about 50 miles outside of the DFW metroplex. Even still - it's not that common. You may see people in cowboy garb at the State Fair, but really, it's not a thing folks. Racism - yes, there are racists in Texas. But I can tell you right now, that crap doesn't fly down here. Texas is MASSIVELY diverse. Lots of Mexican folks, Black folks, Asians, and Caucasians. Learn a little Spanish before you move here, for real. It comes in handy and is much appreciated by our fellow Hispanic Texans. But yeah, you can't get away with being racist here. People will fight you. But people here are kind and polite as well, so the racists are not outwardly so. They keep to themselves, as they should. If you're respectful here, people will be respectful back. Bring your ma'ams and sirs when you visit. (: Hope this helps guys!

In my personal opinion being a younger black professional I like Dallas night life. I been to clubs in Houston from hole in the walls to your big clubs and Houston clubs has a bunch hood dudes in both sides of the spectrum. I like the vibes that Dallas nightlife gives. Houston night life scene seems rough. There is 500 thugs in every club and another 200 in the parking lot. I will agree that Houston has better food. However I like the feel of Dallas as being a black professional. Cleaner than Houston. Dallas has zoning which is a big plus. And the night life scene for African Americans seems "CLEANER". Dallas has plenty of meet up groups on meetup.com. Find your niche or interest and connect with others. Dallas isn't a bad city at all and there is a lot of money here which drives a lot of professionals of all races to Dallas !

Houston is a much better city for black professionals than Dallas is. But the nightlife is a lot more integrated with black people of all classes in Houston. Black Dallas nightlife is either really hood and ghetto or very white bread and bland

Came across this vid again...the thing w intense heat. Texans treat those days the same way we do -20 up North. A car (pickup) is essential. Tinted windows will save you on gas bc less work for AC. Everywhere indoors has AC. Legally, landlords have to provide AC due to people dying from heat. If you have room for a jug of distilled water in your trunk do it. Radiators get hot and blow. It can save someones engine from seizing. (Make sure u know how to safely add water and not burn yourself!).

Hey, what's up! What about immigrants? I'm a brazilian I.T. guy and I'm thinking about moving to Dallas.
