The DART RAIL opened up in 1997. That’s one of the things that morphed Dallas into a mega giant city. No standing at the Bus Stop as much. You walk to a train station.

Downtown Dallas is easy to get around. Just don’t there when big events are going on around Klyde Warren park. And avoid during rush hour Mon-Fri.
Old West cafe!! I eat there every Friday morning! Get a Cowboy Breakfast or get a Rancher Breakfast but only get that if you got time for a nap afterwards😄

I’ve been a metroplex person for 66 years. ( born in Texas) I remember my Mom making the statement that some of the most beautiful women in the world come from Texas. She should know, because she was one of them. i’ve heard the same comment about Dallas women. When i was growing up my Mom & sister, who is also beautiful, never went out in public unless they were well groomed. In the 60’s they wore dresses, gloves, & hats to go shopping. I remember going to Big Town , & my Mom & sister dressed like they were going to church. The same with restaurants. My Dad worked in downtown Dallas & always wore a suit & tie. No casual Friday’s back then. I miss those times, but i enjoy dressing for comfort.

All fine when my friends or parents drove, till my kids were teens and Drving to Downtown D scared the living daylights out of me. Nope, I was never happier than when the kids chose NOLA for college and North La, switched allegiance from Cowboys to Saints.I'd choose the BIG Easy over the BIG D any day. I've lived in Dallas for the past 22-yrs and agree with everything Josh said about Dallas. What I do when I go down town is find a cheap parking lot (there are several in the area) and walk to where ever I want to go. If you can park your car some where on the eastern side of the West End down town, then every thing is pretty much within reasemble walking range of where you want to go. Bars, restaurants, stores, AA Arena, Book Depository Building.

🤣😂 I worked Downtown Dallas and it's terrible to maneuver through! Before you know it you'll be going down a one-way that you thought were not. Better plan wisely when driving Downtown! And our weather is very unpredictable! Glad you enjoyed it here!!! 👍😂🤣

Tell me about it. My GPS had me turn left on a street only to be meeting a DART train headed towards me. 😱 People on the side flagging me to stop and waving at me to go back. You should have seen me backing up in the middle of an intersection with a stop light and traffic on all sides. Thank you Lord I made it out. Downtown Dallas is no joke. Whew🤯 Enter at your own risk.
