Stephanie joins me on this one for 5 days and 4 nights of truly spectacular adventure on this spring canoe camping and fishing trip. We hit one of our new favorite Trout spots here in the Adirondack park, and the Trout were ready and willing to bite. We got into plenty of nice Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout action, with a few real slammer fish that won't soon be forgotten. Unfortunately, towards the end of the trip Stephanie runs afoul of some black flies and has a reaction I have never seen before!

Thank you everyone for following along and watching the videos! Stephanie was doing fine a few days after we got home from here. I still can't believe she toughed it out and we managed to still make a full trip of it. We will be much more prepared venturing into bug season 2024, and hope to see you all on the water! Look out over the next few weeks as a few new videos start popping up on the channel. I have an ice fishing day trip video slotted next in line and then an awesome multi-day trip with Stephanie and Zeke going from Long to Tupper Lake. After that I think you guys will get a glimpse into my first year back deer hunting since I was a teenager, nearly 20 years ago. Thanks again everyone for watching!

Oh man.... poor Stephanie. What a trooper though. Just more proof that woman are tougher than men. I hope things are going well at your new ADK home.

Living up here is amazing, I cannot believe we waited this long to do it! She really is a tough cookie, those bugs were insane last year! Hopefully this year is a tiny bit lighter?

the bugs never let up last year. All that humidity and rain didn't help. I'm glad to here you're settled in and loving it.@@DaxWoodsWanderer

You know how to do it, Jay. Great content, you are calming, relaxed, have a great style and produce excellent video quality. So sorry the black flies tore Steph up so badly. She really is a lovely soul. Thanks buddy. Stay safe out there.

Jay...nice to see a new video, been awhile i'm sure you have been busy. As you said awesome weather, great fish, flat water and good grub...pretty tough to beat that! Time for some finer meshed head nets and it helps to always carry some benadryl. Those dang flies can really put a damper on a great trip, hope Steph recovered quickly. Keep em coming,i'm already looking forward to warmer weather and Spring time fishing.

Editing these videos makes me want to be out there again so bad! Deer season and ice fishing definitely helped alleviate some of the pain, but I really cannot wait to be back in my boat.

WOW! I felt so bad for Stephanie! Definitely some Benadryl in the First Aid pack. Those fish were awesome! Great trip other than the blackflies.

Glad to see another video! I did a trip with my Boy Scout troop years ago and had one my scout's swell up similar to Stephanie from bug bites and I hope she recovered quickly. Black flies can be brutal.

Crazy how that can happen, I knew there could be some swelling, but I just never imagined it could be so bad.

Wow poor Steph! I would have been out of there immediately. Black flys suck. That rainbow made the difference on that last full day. What a beautiful fish.

That Rainbow really was such a wild last minute fish. I was sure I was going to lose it with how my luck had been going that spring.

Poor Stephanie! Hope she recovered quickly. Y'all caught some really nice fish. Love that big brookie, especially. How do you get stuff to stay cold for so long?!

Stephanie was totally fine a few days after getting home. The fishing on this trip really was wild! As for the food, the key is to make sure everything is frozen solid before leaving, load the cooler at the very last minute and make sure to keep it closed as much as humanly possible and out of the suns light.

Congratulations on that monster brookie Stephanie Jay, you gotta look into *banks fry-bake* pans. They’re made in ny and they’ve been around since the 70’s. NOLS uses them and I believe wrote a cookbook for them. My favorite for backpacking is the deep alpine set but I have the full inventory. The alpine pan is awesome for personal size pizzas. The lid shape is intentionally designed to be a Dutch oven lid.

@@DaxWoodsWanderer Don’t be afraid to buy the ‘seconds’. At least half of the stuff I’ve bought from them was seconds and I have no regrets. A great way to save a few bucks if they have what you need.

Omg what a rough time with the bugs. I hope she recovered well. I too am very allergic to black fly bites. One time every spring or summer they always get me and good and then it's a trip to the er. Mine get infected and really swollen and red. 😢

Oh man I can relate to Stephaie's ordeal with the black flies. I took the wife up north one-year early June and she blew up like a balloon also. I felt so bad for her. We don't go to ADK until July these days, I still go they don't bother me so bad. Thanks for sharing.
