Pro tip for anyone looking to do this in the future: there’s a seperate paved bike path from the end of hwy 93 that crosses hwy 1 and leads to Lake Louise. It’s not signposted at all, but you can find it on the left side of the road just after you pass the park gates on your way into Louise. Getting caught in a snowstorm on the parkway is a special experience, as long as you can find a place to warm up afterwards! The descent down Sunwapta must’ve been a cold one. The bow valley parkway is an excellent victory lap for any Bow Valley tour, everyone should give it a shot sometime. Love the way you’re sharing Southern Alberta cycling with the world! What’s the next route? Everyone talks about the Golden triangle (Louise-Golden-Radium and return) but my favourite is the Silver Triangle out of Nelson. Small towns, friendly people and lots of gorgeous lake swimming!

I went to the Columbia Icefields in the 70s, as a child. The Athabasca Glacier was one of the biggest. It is stunning to see how much of it has regressed. Practically the entire foreground of the shot of the icefields (7:21) used to be covered in ice and snow, such that it looked like ice was flowing down into the valley. In some sections you could walk up to the ice and it was over 10 feet thick. Now, there is just a sprinkling of snow on the mountain tops.

Good to see you eventually made the Icefields trip after the previous aborted trip because of bear activity. It's so beautiful and stunning there. I thought Switzerland was beautiful, but those mountains trump Switzerland. It's so rugged yet beautiful, and enjoying that on a bicycle, in the elements, in my opinion is the best way to experience it, even if it's summer and you need to bring your winter clothes because of a freak snow shower! I absolutely admire your videos, don't change a thing, they are wonderful to watch. I've noticed a yellow tag near the stem on your bike. What is it?

Canada sure has very beautiful mountain scenes, and crazy weather too, from snow in the summer to rain to sun, and probably everything in between. Riding in the rain is terrible, just like hiking in the rain. I would move my non-winter tent into the shelter too if that was me. It is nice to have good company on a frigid, stormy trip. Definitely replace the rack before it completely gives out, which will probably happen on the next big, heavy trip. Since you are not too far from Banff, some day maybe you can just keep riding on down South on the Great Divide Trail.

Nice Job Jenna. I did this last September. I stopped in Lake Louise. Wish I’d continued to Canmore, which was the original plan. I agree. That would have been the best part of the tour. Interesting note about the hostel at Beauty Ck and Hilda Ck. If you’re a cyclist they won’t turn you away. (Had some apprehension about getting available camp site.) I camped in that same RV campground in a site reserved for the park serves. I have a couple of questions. Did you and Jet make campsite reservation before you your trip? And how did you and Jet handle parking your vehicle in Canmore? Lastly, nice job on your Iceland tour. That was hardcore. Best. Peter

@@peterbozek131 hey Peter! The first two campsights we stayed at (mount kerkeslin and Colombia Icefields) were first come first serve and we just got lucky with the RV Park (it was reservation only but they happened to have open spots that day) because we were planning on staying at waterfowl lakes but that was closed! And for lake Louise we did have to book a bit in advance I think that one fills up quickly! And as for Canmore, the original plan was to leave our car at my friends place there but she ended up driving us home (sorry that’s probably not too helpful lol) but if we had the time I probably would have just biked all the way home to Calgary!

@@jennalexiskoLake Louise campground was the best. I got in on a cancellation. Those showers blew my mind. 😄 On the parking, I checked around. Someone suggested storage facilities, but there was no room. I just left my van at the whistler campground. The Park Service called me four days into my tour to confirm I wasn’t a lost hiker. The other campers were concerned because the hadn’t see movement for a couple of days. I love Canada for that. Best wishes on your next adventure Jenna. Keep it up.
