I lived there for 2 years teaching English. I do miss Japan and my students. Living there is so much more immersive then just traveling. If you go again, try going to Sawara. It is an old style town close to where I was living/working. Definitely try traveling outside of the major cities to get a truer experience. Tokyo is very westernized. And Kyoto can be just as hectic as Tokyo. It was also the capital before it moved to Tokyo. And< obviously since I don't know when this was filmed, but Lucie!! You didn't do the traditional first temple visit that the Japanese do!!
