Great choices. The Pretenders first album deserves to be part that conversation as well. Need the Cymande lp.

Cool video. My favorite member of Crosby, Stills, and Nash is Neil Young.

We've got some cold weather over here Craig so that was a great start to the day. I'm adding 'King Cheese' to my word bank ! This is a tough one but I've come up with a few to add to your excellent picks. J.J.Cale had a run of four or five essential albums but he never bettered the debut. Dire Straits also kicked down the doors with their first album and I don't think they ever improved on it. Many would disagree but I'd also choose Steely Dan's 'Can't Buy a Thrill' over any of their subsequent releases, much as I love some of them. I'll have to think of a few more. You'll have to follow up with the sophomore masterpieces now you've done this one. Thanks Craig.

I would say B-52s debut was their best,,, but the 2nd album is pretty close.

Have you listened to graham Nash's first solo album? I think it is the best of the group

Great list. For me, DEVO, Boston, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Zebra, Wire, The Cars....The list is endless....

Bad Company was a good choice. In fact, I really haven't owned any of their other records other than 10 From 6. I didn't realize they had so many albums until a few years back. I'm not saying there were not some good tracks on some of their other albums through the years. I just don't think they ever topped their self-titled debut album. That was a good idea for a video. I'm still trying to think of an artist that never topped their debut album :-) Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

They're also a strong contender for Band With The Worst Album Covers. Agree with the Danger; the debut was the best.

I like the Mountain and Bad Company albums, the rest of your choices are not for me. However, although nothing to do with this particular video, I was pleased to see you have the classic Sensational Alex Harvey Band Live album on display. Brilliant band and the only thing wrong with that album is that it should have been a double. As for debut albums that were never bettered, Boston’s self titled definitely is one to talk about.

It's almost strange how BadCo sounds nothing like Free or Mott. They truly had a 'fresh' sound; both raw and polished, both British and American with minimal blues/pop/prog influences. Their albums always seemed to have a 'perfect' balance to them and never tried to overwhelm the listener by moving in one direction or another. Also, thanks for introducing me to Cymande...i'd never come across this band before! 🎶

@@DerekPugh-uj4yd that first LP has an epic level to it. Cymande is something everyone should have.💯

Free and Mott the Hoople both had a strong identity that Bad Company never quite had. They were a really good rock band but not as good as the bands they came from.

Danger man, I'd have to say Journey's first is, hands down their best. Pretty sure that won't be a popular take, but what can I say?
