In the newest trailer, it’s mentioned that when a Vision wielder dies, the light in the Vision fades. But does that apply to a Gnosis? If Albedo’s master found the Dendro Gnosis, perhaps that did something weird.

The Dendro Archon that died 500 years ago was replaced and as such should be currently held by said Archon in the current day.

Gnosis is more like a crown that proves one's identity and pass down Archon to Archon. Vision on the other hand is a proof of one's soul being worthy to challenge the throne. In Keqing's story, we learned that no matter what you do how hard you try, you cannot break the Vision crystal and it is useless unless held by rightful owner. Interesting thing is, ex-Archon does not need Gnosis or Vision to use element power, as explained by Venti that he carries around a counterfeit Vision so he can blend in to the crowd. We can assume that a Vision holder can only use elemental power by conjuring ether or w/e "power" or resonate with Vision crystal they own, which is probably a crystallized fragment of their soul. If you have played Honkai Impact, Bronya became Herrscher of Reason by acquiring Gem of Reason; by the same logic, someone with potential (Vision) can become Archon if s/he is worthy of the Gnosis.

@@Nagalior We don’t know if ex archons don’t need Gnosis to use elements. Venti and Zhongli were already beings of their respective elements before they gained their Gnosis. Venti was a wind spirit and Zhongli was a geo adeptus

Adeptus can be human or any animal that went through intense and dedicated trainings and trials to detach themselves from the material world and eventually become a spirit like immortal being with various power. If a God approves, the adeptus' status can be elevated to be equal to a God and ascend to heaven. Sound familiar? It is exactly like the relationship of Vision holder and Archons and Gnosis and Celestia.

These characters are connected deeply to the lore indeed. But currently the characters I see holding the top most importance in lore for its grand unfolding are Venti and the upcoming archon, Raiden Shogun. Their action over the past years have time and again proven to be strange for a ruler, Zhongli being the prime example. Which implies that they know "something". Venti even goes as far as to state some derogatory statement about celestia saying its waters tasting foul and its fruits, bland. Raiden Shogun is seizing visions, quite the opposite of what archons are supposed to do as per their roles given by celestia. Currently and originally, its all just a speculation. But I think these two characters will be the first to turn the world upside down on top of our heads. Nonetheless, great lore vid TH!! Feeling great hearing ur voice after so many days.

I think Baal has something going on. It certainly smells Fatui- I mean, Harbinger- no, Scaramouche- wait, fishy! I mean it smells fishy! Though I do think that Scaramouche returned to his homeland of Inazuma, stole the Gnosis, took control of Inazuma, and forced Baal to start the Vision Hunt Decree. Scaramouche has been ruling over Inazuma since, except for a brief stint during Unreconciled Stars where he’s sent to assassinate the Traveler before he can reach Inazuma and disrupt the Fatui’s plans. Since that failed, Scaramouche returned to Inazuma, banished Kazuha (who he knew would help the Traveler if he was allowed to stay), continued to enforce the VHD, and prepared for the Traveler’s inevitable arrival.

I think Alice will be making a voice debut in 1.6. I think she's the one triggering the Klee event with a letter and the message we hear on the gramophone in the trailer right before we go into Kazuha's introduction. It makes sense for me as she's the one that made Dodoco for Klee and the Klee focused event circles around her having to defeat some Dodo King. It just makes sense for me but Idk if it's true or not, maybe the event will tell. Edit: lol, I was right for once with a theory. It just seemed very obvious because no one other than Klee knows that much about dear Dodoco, but I was starting to suspect Lisa as well ngl. The ending of the event was so cute, I really like it, and Alice en voice suits her character a lot: fun and quirky but still super soft and motherly. I hope we get to actually see her at some point.

I have a theory that the jester might be Dainsleif. However this theory is heavily countered by the fact that Dainsleif's stance towards the Gods are neutral (which means he doesn't support the Tsaritsa). However there may still be some possibilities that he works with the Tsaritsa in secret (the only one that knows Jester's real identity as Dainsleif is the Tsaritsa).

It's mentioned in the story that the Qixing had studied the Ballista and attempted to engineer new ones based off it. According to Cloud Retainer though, they weren't nearly as functional/good as the original, and so needed the adepti's powers to fully function against Osial. That's what I can recall.

Zhongli and venti is no longer archon anymore coz they dont have their gnosis. But they still god of freedom and contract. Guizhong lost the archon war so she is not a archon but still a god.

If anyone has read Chinese Wuxia novels you can see that genshin impact is quite similar to them. MC is sent to a lower world where his power is sealed or destroyed he will strengthen his powers so he can fight back the enemies. The lower world is Teyvat while Celestia is a higher world. I’m so glad that someone finally brings up these characters. I always thought that these characters were unique and had one connection which was that there not around, missing, or there on a faraway expedition/mission. I also wanna say that Amber’s Grandfather seems pretty cool. I don’t know much of the guy but he did create the out-riders and has a story of his own and how he lived in Liyue in Amber’s story profile. Right now he’s missing and I feel that it’s weird for a character who made a whole new division for Mondstats Knights to just be “missing.” I think since there isn’t much known about Amber’s Grandfather it’d be a good opportunity for Mihiyo to create a new subplot where idk the Traveler and Mandstats Knights find out he’s working with the Abyss or he’s on a secret mission/task just like Varka and Alice (I only thought this since he is technically a Knight with a high position bc he did create his own division and both Varka and Alice are also high positioned knights that are gone.)

For Guizhong's element, I have a few suggestions. 1. GEO: Not just because she's the god of dust and dust is sometimes derived to dirt, but I once wrote a theory on Scaramouche's vision and translated "GEO" to "loyalty" as a personality trait. Those with GEO visions are loyal to a cause and/or a group. Albedo is loyal to his work but also the family he has with Klee, Alice and his master. Gorou is loyal to Kokomi as well as defending his home of Watatsumi Island. Guizhong was loyal to Morax. She loved him and likely still would if she was brought back from the dead. 2. CRYO: While looking a bit like dust, CRYO is an element given to characters who have gone through hardships but would still do anything for what or who they love regardless of the challenges. Diona will do whatever she can to make the worst drink ever despite all her drinks turning out great because she loves her father and wants him to stop drinking. Chongyun continues the road of an exorcist no matter how unsuccessful he is at it because he loves the work he was born into. Eula will continue to defend Mondstadt no matter how many glares are thrown her way for her tainted bloodline because she loves her home. The list goes on. Guizhong loved Morax and she loved Liyue but had to go through the hardship of dying and leaving the world and man she loved behind in order for him to ascend and become the one, true archon of Liyue. If she kept the same clothes from the art too, I'd say that makes it all the more likely as she has a lot of the color schemes of most of the CRYO characters in the game already. 3. DENDRO: Less for what she was the god of, I base this off of how Guizhong was very wise and knew so much knowledge that she left it in that box for Morax. I've also translated the DENDRO element to one of truth. We don't have many DENDRO characters at the moment, but the ones we do have seem to care a lot about the truth. Collei got her vision after returning to Sumeru after learning that everything the archon residue in her body was telling her was lies. Tighnari, though very intelligent, refused to take part of a project with the akademiya that the sages refused to elaborate on. Alhaitham, while part of the akademiya, doesn't trust them and doesn't give them much if all the information that he finds. He's just as skeptical of them as they are of him. If Guizhong has some of that divine-forbidden-knowledge that we've heard so much about in that box, maybe she cared a lot about the truth as well. The truth of the world, the people in it, all that jazz. That's just my take.

Another character who might have been nice on this list is Bosacius, yaksha who disappeared rather than dying like the other yaksha who fought demons for rex lapis. the lore of the millelith set also talks of a nameless yaksha who fought 500 years ago in the chasm, and rather than still being under rex lapis’ command, they fought to redeem themselves for their previous “cowardice and dereliction of duty”...

2:34 I have a gnawing hunch that Varka may actually just use his fists or a hammer; with how long this story is set to play out I find it difficult to believe they won't add more weapon archetypes in the future. Mihoyo also _really_ like to recycle core models _a lot_ as seen with Sucrose and the Cicin Mages (both Cryo and Electro); this makes me think with how tall they say Varka is that his model at least may be based off of the Anemo Boxer or Electro Hammer fatui enemies. And since both of the Cicin mages are primarily catalyst users (ie. they attack from afar with no visible weapons), it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to think they would recycle their weapon of choice *_but_* put in a twist on the animations. I think a Pyro Boxer would be such an interesting playable character for Genshin and would really fit the image they've been painting of Varka.

Well Varka in Razor story reveals that he taught Razor how to use Claymore. You cant really teach anyone anything without you mastering it in the first place. In any case, his massive physique will support Claymore playstyle even more. Sure base model can be the boxers, but they are base, and thats all they are. After the base is built it will be directed to animate the targeted character. It has been the case for every playable characters base model in Genshin. Everyone in one type of body shares the base but the way they are animated differs and related to who they are. I will just use both Sucrose and Cicin Mages as example. Cicin Mages are very much confident on their cicin attractor and catalyst, and presumably their delusion or device similar to it. Sucrose on the other side is pretty wobbly and panicky when attacking, fitting her personality. At the end, both of them only shares model, everything else is pretty much different. So yeah, I'd say Claymore is still his weapon. The one coming with new weapon will be an entirely new characters rather than characters that are already known but not having any appearance

So it's not like they haven't pulled the canonical weapon switcheroo on us before either. Just because you know how to use something doesn't mean it's what you choose to use yourself. But _all_ of this is just speculation, he may wind up being used as a MacGuffin and killed off before he even does anything in terms of of Traveller's PoV.

@@KyleCorbeau and i will say this bcs i have Childe. He chooses to wield bow specifically bcs he wants to master the bow. He has mastered many weapons, how much exactly is still unknown. And he wants to master more and more weapon. So he picked bow bcs he's the weakest at it and will keep using his bow until he fully master it. This is his lore behind weapon choice. And why he uses his weakest weapon as main when we see how proficient and masterful he is on melee weapons (so far he has used dual wielded sword and that one stick that has two blades, one on each end of the stick, idk whats that called as his melee weapons). So yeah, Childe weapon choice doesnt really matter on this topic. Varka is still most likely uses Claymore himself, and everything so far still supports that more than anything else

This is a really good video and I overwhelmingly agree with the conclusions - but I have a few comments & thoughts: First - Vanessa uses a regular sword, not a claymore. Evidence: Aquila Favonia is literally her weapon. Her longsword, that she used throughout her life. Second - I agree Varka uses a Claymore, because on top of what you said I'd also add that Wolf's Gravestone is very in lore for him and is very much his iconic weapon. Its literally the sword of the Knight of Boreas (which he is), tho in this case, it belonged to the Original Knight of Boreas and Varka is the CURRENT one, so unlike Favonia with Vanessa, its not his sword specifically. Third - Just want to call it now but I'm pretty sure Dodo-king in the upcoming event is going to be a fictional antagonist created by Alice as a present for Klee by giving her something to do. After all, who else would play so deeply into Klee's childhood fantasies while also throwing her up against dangerous monsters in distant land. So I think we'll learn a lot about Alice next patch. Fourth - Guizhong. I don't think Guizhong is coming back because personally I think there is a much more appropriate place to explore her story - Historia Antiqua Part 3. The finale of Zhongli's character quests. Zhongli's character quests are almost entirely about exploring the aspects of ancient history that only he bore witness to, and how much that experience has ground him down spiritually over time (eroded). There would be no more poignant ending point to that exploration than by learning about his relationship with Guizhong and finally opening the Memory of Dust. Learning about how even Zhongli's one true love was lost to the depths of time would be a perfect final flourish for solidifying Zhongli's character history so that he is fully in place for whatever role he will fill in the main narrative of the story. Fifth - Recommendation for a follow up - Jester, the 1st Harbinger. Jester is already an extremely important character in the lore just for being the founder of the Fatui and the right hand man of the Tsaritsa in whatever she's planning, but an even bigger bombshell was dropped in the Pale Flame artefact set's Circlet lore - Jester was a member of the Khanri'an Royal Council in the lead up to the fall 500 years ago, and almost certainly has an extremely important role in the entire Tsaritsa narrative, possibly even the biggest. We know enough to say he's going to be super important, playing a MAJOR role in the story, but we also know little enough that he would still be called a "Deep Lore" character currently (he's only really been name dropped once ever in a temporary event, most casual players wouldn't even know of his existence). Hope you see this, in any case - great video, really enjoyed it :)

Varka will most likely be Cryo, as he is mentioned in Razor's voice lines which indicates he is related to Andrius/Boreas as well as wolves and lupicals. Andrius/Boreas was once the old archon of blizzards, ie Cryo

Collei really should have been on this list...the message board outside the Cat's Tail pub confirms the events of the manga as canon and four messages back to back are dedicated to discussion about her. She's definitely coming back as a playable character and will be a major player in the story given the experimentation on her which may have very well been khemia. Also, Vennessa will definitely be a regular sword user, not a claymore. If you read the lore for the 'Aquila Favonia' sword it was literally her sword. And Varka will definitely be a claymore weapon class, he was the one who found Razor. If you read Razor's story he refers to him as 'Big steelclaw'. We learn in Razor's story when he references 'big steelclaw' a second time that it's what he refers to Varka's weapon as, and says he's the one who taught him how to use a sword. Boom, there's your claymore confirmation. We actually know his weapon is canonically the Wolf's Gravestone. If you read it's description it flat out says it belonged to the Knight of Boreas. Boreas is all about the cold, snow, and ice. Varka will most likely be Cryo claymore (sorry Eula). It would also be weird to have Varka, Jean, and Vennessa all be anemo. Most people are already theorizing Vennessa will be pyro sword, simply because of her connection to Natlan. Nothing is accidental in Genshin's lore, and it kind of makes perfect sense for Vennessa to be stronger than Varka if she does return. Pyro, melts Cryo. The only thing that reacts with both of them is Anemo, so I believe Jean is being set up to be the successor to both of their legacies. But Jean being a parallel of Jean d'Arc isn't exactly comforting since that's kind of a major death flag..... ^^' Anyways, there's my response to the video. All in all a good solid list! I'll be curious to see if Inazuma's plot continues to place so much emphasis on hundreds of years of lore set in the past. I love all the lore, but I feel like Monstadt and Liyue rely way too heavily on the time periods of 500 years prior and 2,0000 years prior to create any impact with the events of the plot. I'd love to see characters whose impact is felt because of well written PRESENT events and not how they react with hundreds or even thousands of years of built up god drama lol
