Alchemy despite being an ancient concept, it was only advanced as a science by Arabs and Iranians (Iraniana from Khwarizm specifically) during the Abbasid and Fatimid eras, the main reason behind it was to produce acids and oil that can fix or help advancing technology and machinery to make daily life easier for people, but the fantasy about Alchemy was a very interesting one, they tried to turn common metals like steel into gold, the scientists wanted to make a fortune, but this later got the funds and the support of educational institutions and ruling dynasties in Baghdad, Cairo, Cordoba and Fez, they actually wanted to give it a try, but besides gold, other Alchemist had a more glorious goal behind it, if every thing in this world is made of atoms, basically dust, why is water and food are different than dirt and rock, and what if we can make enough resources for everyone through common none benefital materials, and to make undrinkable water drinkable, they never reached that point due to thr Mongol invasion and the continues crausades. They wouldn't have reached it anyway, even in this era we don't know everything about atoms, possibly not much. Astrology on the other hand, in its scientific form, it was common and was advanced a lot during the Abbasid and Fatimid eras, if you ever read the names of the stars we know about, you will notice that up to 60% of the names are Arabic, and were named centuries ago, but mystical and mythological form of Astrology, like the Zodiac signs and reading the future, was as far as forbidden because it was considered interruption into fate and destiny, which are God's knowledge only according to them. The concept of Alchemy date back to Babylonia and ancient Egypt, but it was just a basic untested idea, both the scientific and mythological forms of Alchemy you see in Genshin impact are rather a bit modern compared, barely a 1100 years old and unrelated to mythological astrology which is Mona's specialty in the game.

@@morceen I've read alchemical texts from the 16 to the 18 centuries and I've seen a large emphasis on planetary positions and assigned days of the week and hours of the day to the planets, and assigned planetary correspondences to materials they used alchemists from that time relied on the correct timing for their experiments as they believed that it had a role in the results, And I made the original point to say that those 2 fields were heavily related irl and in the game they are both part of the circle of Witches and are from khanreiah neither of the practices in game resemble anything like actual alchemy and astrology

@@pleromaprism7581 You are confused by the fact that there is TWO types of alchemy. There is the other guys comment about the purely scientific alchemy, which we know as CHEMISTY today. The type Mona practices is indeed related to astrology and is much similar to pagan witch spells brewed in a cauldron. In this fictional state, it takes that mysticism mixed with basic chemistry to a "It does work here" because Genshin has elements, aka magic, and gods.

This would also mean Alice has lived for quite the long time because not only does she appear in Albedo’s story, but also Klee’s, Mona’s and Barbara’s. We know from Mona that she and her old master were good friends, and that Mona’s master is an “old hag” now. And from Barbara’s story one learns that Alice taught her about Idols and what it means to be one. And Of course, Alice is a famous traveler (even a guard in liyue mentions her) and Klee’s mom. That would imply that Alice has quite the age but isn’t dead yet. So the most reasonable way for that to be would not be a plot hole or something that breaks the timeline, but her not being human. I guess maybe Klee’s dad was human, which is why she still kinda looks like it.

I always took Albedo as the parallel version of K-243/Clone Kiana. If you think about it, those two are similar. + Albedo is (possible) a humonculus. K-243 is a clone of the original Kiana. + Kiana acts as the vessel of the HoV. While if we take few hints about his future role, he acts as the vessel of the Dragon Durin. + Their outfits and character design have star-themed motiffs.

Albedo's diamonds/star shaped on his clothing design really resembles the travelers. The star on his neck reminds me with Dainsleif & Kaeya's pupils. He's really mysterious. I really want to know the purpose of him being created

Rhinedottir gives him the title of kreidzprinz which is translated to chalk prince. Chalk makes sense cause he's probably made out of chalk being an homunuclus. But prince is what's interesting. The royal family in Khaenri'ah was known as the Eclipse Dynasty. What if, consumed by her greed, tried to create the perfect homunculus that would overthrow the dynasty and bring in a new era as king. But would be known as a "prince" for now. During the Khaenri'ah war, Albedo was but a tiny zygote in a container. After catching the attention of the gods and having to fight them, Gold got distracted from her original plan. The outlander (our twin) managed to become the Prince(ss) of the Abyss. And put a bounty on the alchemist's head. So she freaked out, brought proto-Albedo with her overseas and changed her identity. For the next 500 years, the other twin is tracking down the alchemist responsible for the Khaenri'ah catastrophe and its current curse. And she is developing her perfect homunculus but for different reasons now. She's given up on her masterplan since an outlander is now a ruler who wants her head.

My own personal theory is that Albedo is curious about the travellers makeup and how they are able to manipulate elemental magic is that he's the same as them. that star above his geo vision? That's his source of elemental energy. The Geo vision is just to hide that his true source is the star as if he's not from this world or at least isn't like everyone else. After you compared his own design and the stars to the travellers I certainly felt as if there is a stronger connection between them. Although take my theory with a grain of salt, or a grain of chalk if you must. As I just made it up with barely any evidence.

Also, I've never seen Albedo's constellation image before but after seeing it I'm convinced that he is not a human being but a homunculus. Giving that the devs put a lot of thought and work into their characters' design and story, Albedo's constellation image is truly a very huge hint about what he is.

This almost aligns with my own theories. Albedo is most likely a similar type of creation as Raiden Shogun, who also used Khaen'ria's technology to be made. Albedo also follows orders or "tasks" that his master gave him throughout his life, which you can read in his bio. His last task being to figure out the secrets of the world and show it to her. I also think that Danselif's concern for albedo's wrong moves, and Albedo's concern for destroying everything, boils down to accidentally going against the heavenly principles, and thus being attacked by celestia. If advanced technology/alchemy is the main component that creates the opportunity to break the heavenly principles, Albedo might be treading a thin line. And Dansleif being from Khaen'ria and knowing this, will therefore keep a close eye on him. Also, when it snows, Albedo softly calls out "master...". Khaen'ria is most likely based on nordic stuff based on the names Rhinedottir and Dansleif. So it would make sense that snow would remind him of his master and their time in Khaen'ria. Which is probably why he stays in Dragonspine. Because it feels like he's in Khaen'ria and possibly with his master as well.

i love albedo sm, even though with every character so far we dont know *that* much about them, albedo is very deliberately shrouded in extra mystery by the developers, which might suggest his story is going to be relevant to the timeline of the main story. the implications that he is an artificial human are certainly all there, but as to his full nature, his master’s true motives, the influence of khaenri’ah... i can’t wait to find out more. although to be honest the theory is kind of sad, to think he doesn’t realize he’s not a “real boy” for lack of a better term lol. i wonder if it’s something he would take in stride like his vision or if it would affect him more deeply. also side note, you always do such a great job with b-roll footage from the game.

He's never been a very popular character (the peak was after his release, when he happened to be one of the best supports in the game), and people didn't really seem to care about his story or the hints that his story gave us. Mmmmmmhm! Between the event and reading over his talents, I ended up sending my friends a small essay on this. XD I dug up the post, in case anyone's interested: 1) He keeps mentioning that you and him are both different from everyone else. Now, you're a traveller from another world. So if Albedo's going to compete with that, his secret has to be something pretty out there. 2) His name is really strange. "Albedo" means "whiteness" and is the second hypothetical stage in the process of creating the Philosopher's Stone, the ultimate aim of alchemy. Who names their kid that? No one. We have reason to believe that Albedo was named by his teacher, then. How did that situation come about? Why was the teacher in a position to name him? 3) Albedo mentions that he resonates with the dragon, because, in his words, "I'm me." Then immediately wonders if the dragon was created by his teacher. HMMMMM. 4) And finally, the most damning piece of evidence is simply the name of one of his talents, "Homuncular Nature." A homunculus is a being resembling a human that is brought into being via alchemy. As a bonus -- and somewhat silly thing to note -- the word literally means something like "little man." Note that Albedo is styled like the other adult characters, but is only the size of one of the young teenagers. He's so little. ^.^ So, essentially, I believe Albedo to be a homunculus created and therefore named by his absent teacher. Also, there's no way eyes that pretty happened naturally. XD

I feel like Albedo's master created him to try and create someone like the traveller who can control every element, and Albedo is to discover this which could be a reason why he is so fascinated by the traveler. Maybe Albedo was created to be a mass weapon of destruction like the mad alchemist that destroyed Khaenriah. Also, maybe Alice knows what Albedo is and it will be HER who is strong enough to stop him and she will return to Mondstadt when he becomes dangerous (and then we get her as a playable character 😅)

In climatology, environmental management, and astronomy, the term albedo is used to describe how much light a given object reflects. Light things, such as chalk, have a higher albedo than dark things, such as soil. Shiny things like gold have a fairly high albedo too. Idk how this relates to lore or anything, but it's something.

Actually, Cintrinitas isn't the last stage of the Magnum Opus. In the original process it was a total of four stages: - Nigredo (The Blackening) - Albedo (The Whitening) - Cintrinitas (The Yellowing) - Rubedo (The Reddening) The stages have since been expanded upon, but I'll focus more on the original four. Red is associated with gold and the philosopher's stone (which is why you often see it depicted as red in media). Rubedo is alchemical success and the end of the great work "Magnum Opus".

The Klee segments have the best editing, I'm not sure how they were able to capture albedos waiting animation so timely with Jean running after Klee in various backgrounds but it sure was funny, well angled, and shot.
