3:47 NTTS didn't talk about this but if you disable "Use data to customize my Discord experience" setting, you will be opted out for the selection of the random people which receives some upcoming features. For example when profile customization added, first they added for %10 of people who specificly enabled use data to improve and customize thingys. If you are fine with not receiving the new features by chance ever again, yes you can turn it off.

To go with the hotkey tip, if you have a certain key that you always use for voice chat in games I HIGHLY recommend adding a "push-to-mute" key and setting it to your in-game voice chat key. This will mute you in Discord when you talk in-game, but obviously you need to use the same key in every game for it to work. If you do this I would also recommend turning off the "PTT Activate" and "PTT Deactivate" sounds in the notification menu (tip 5 in the video) because the beep sounds get kind of annoying after a while.

Quick switcher (or launch pad) also exists on pre-patched mobile discord. It doesn't tell you that you can also use the symbols to filter your search. And if anything, it looks even more like the pc counterpart. And by tapping the bell on the bottom, you can see your recent mentions and the for you page. On the old layout

You should put the mute discord on Alt and the deafen feature on F4 so if you are in a situation just quickly press both and voila all your problems vanish!

The reason the # trick works is because Discord uses Markdown, which is kind-of like a programming language but for regular text. # is used for heading, with more hashtags making smaller subheadings. Emojis seem to default to some hidden size beyond # so adding # turns the emoji into a subheading, making it smaller.

That last trick about the Emojis also works for text. If you use the same hashtags on text, it'll scale your text down to that size.

(4:20) Worst part of that screen is that it's only for the US keyboard, reglardess of what keyboard is being used and regardless of what language is chosen in Discord. For example, it says to press Ctrl / to open, which refers to the key which you type / by just pressing it without Shift. on a Swedish keyboard, there's no such key. / is typed by pressing Shift 7. The actual key is ' on a Swedish keyboard. Ctrl ' not Ctrl /. But Discord doesn't give the correct info.

I can already imagine all the replies saying "just use the US keyboard then". Why would I? I need to type Swedish too. Plus the US keyboard is weird. I don't say the Swedish layout is better, but a new layout could be made instead. Reglardess, Discord can easily check that the unshifted symbol is for the key they request and print that in the UI. But they don't, because they're ignorant and lazy.

Although this is common on laptops it can be a bit difficult on a desktop since Windows apparently doesn't support having a button to mute the mic by default, laptop manufacturers fix that themselves.

I guess it's just implemented through laptop manufacturer's drivers or whatever that Windows pulls through windows update.

For years I've had Toggle mute on Page Up and toggle deafen on page down. I'm sure there are better keys to use but they've been life changing.

something I do, is I have my own server, stick stickers or emojis on it but also more importantly is I find myself joining a bunch of servers for upcoming games or mods to look for updates, they mostly have announcement channels, so I just feed them all into there plus some bots for yt uploads etc, and then I just have 1 section that I look at for like 60 different announcements / updates, instead of 60+ servers

oh yeah I found out something about mobile discord. To get to settings you can just press on your account, and then press on your account again. No need to press the gear icon on the top. That almost makes up for them removing settings from the hotbar

Fun fact and wild story: there are Rocket League egirls, one of them actually cheated on a large content creator with a 27 year old while she was 17, then the 27 year old disappeared from the internet for a bit then returned. Some of the things he did include: - saying "I'll just keep these emotes of her ass to myself then" in his public discord - saying only he was allowed to kill her (the 17 year old replied with "that's so hot") - having her nudes as his lock screen and showing it to his stream - discord roleplay where he and the 17 year old went from the office into the suite - defending his paedophilia by saying "they were just friends" and the things they did were normal friend activities His name is Maximus Aemulus and when he returned, he started making videos such as "Fortnite try not to cry", "Fortnite try not to ______" (context includes the chun-li skin and certain emotes, just use your imagination) and other weird challenges only pre-teens would enjoy (aka he was trying to find his next ekitten). I think he deleted all of those and he is just one of those generic waste of oxygen reaction content creators or smth

now if only there was a setting to make pings default to OFF when you reply to someone or the server owner... nothing like being a streamer and have tons of people pinging you when you are live and are the center of attention being pinged hundreds of time per hour... pinging someone who is literally talking to you right there at the moment in your face and replying to them cause more than you 2 are conversing and you ping them right in their face when they definitely do not need to be pinged for a mundane response... i think Discord are made by people who don't even use it...

Can you explain what's going on with automatic statuses for voice chats, where just joining a chat sets your status to a frog and "chillin tbh"? From my point of view it just kind of appeared one day, with no way to turn it off (either for myself or for my voice channels) and experiments showed that it leaks information about the server and voice channel you were in to people who otherwise couldn't see that information.

heres a little fun fact for discord stans. im 99% sure esc and page down are bound to the same keybind, which normally, isn't a huge issue. But scroll up, reply to a mesage, and use shift page down to bump to the newest message (a perfectly reasonable and sane action to do i might add) and suddenly your reply deletes and you scroll down. Literally unusable.
