I was born a few years after Antoinnette. I can still remember watching the Adam Walsh story as a young child. The fear of being kidnapped and stranger danger was so prevalent in America more than ever before. I remember thinking what I would or could do should this happen to me at a time when it seemed ridiculous that a child would think of things like using a phone, squeezing the hand of a waitress, even leaving a note! How brave and tragic that all of her attempts failed! This one really breaks my heart bc she was clearly brave and a strong individual to carry out all of these efforts and still be missing. Just heartbreaking! Thank you for posting these unsolved missing people! SO much more important then any other “real crime” stories. An average of 8 million children go missing worldwide every year. We should be reminded of them so they are not forgotten!

Why didn’t police track down the man that was very obviously grooming many boys on line? Their lack of any action lead to this murder!! In many of these cases police lack of any action is not only callous, but leaves me wondering what’s the point of having a paid police force at all?

“Paul left the family home because he didn’t want his daughter to see her parents fighting all the time”…what a way to spell that out!!!!! It completely invisiblizes the fact that he basically abandoned his daughter, and left the enormous burden of raising a child, and raising her in the middle of a tremendous heartbreak and emotional breakdown to her mother!! The way you said it even makes it look like a love gesture!!! If it would have been HER to leave “for the sake of her daughter”, would you have said that in the same way? I bet no, I bet you would have used the word “abandon”. That’s pure misogyny.

Damn! being an emergency operator is no joke, I can't imagine all this people have heard on the other side of the phone. And to try to be calm and collected, while also trying to get all the information they can AND do the best to try to help the people on the side of the line. Hearing Anthonette screaming on that phone call was so chilling and sad. Maybe her mother sold her to sexual traffickers or something like that.

I really think that Ant(h?)onette's mother sold her into sex trafficking. What her motive (besides money) was for why she did this, and why she didn't sell her other daughter is a mystery.

That is 100% a woman's voice on Antoinette's call, not a man's voice. That one is absolutely horrifying.
