I worked at Us Xpress for a year during my rookie days & I was armed the entire time. Criminals don’t care about the law so why should I not protect myself from those idiots. It saved me once in Memphis, two idiots tried to rob me & when I pulled my gun out they took off down the street. I refuse to work at any OTR company that is governed less than 70mph. I hate drivers that drive 60mph but when you try to pass them they’ll go 65mph & you’ll look like the axxhole blocking up the left lane.

I'd put it like this, I word certain things certain ways because I do KZbin, and KLLM actually watch my videos. But I would rather lose my job than my life. And I feel you on the speed, lol. Even going 70 now, a lot of people go 68mph, and it kills me because it takes a minute to pass them only going 2 miles faster.

With the payscale if you already have 2 years experience you start at ?.64 cents however do you still get the .2 cents raise at 3 and 6 months like the students get fresh from school?
@bigsmoothtruckin
@bigsmoothtruckin 11 ай бұрын
That's a great question, I'm not 100% sure but I think since you start at .64, you'll get 1 cent raise each year like everyone else. I think they try and scale everyone equally based on how long they've been with the company. And since you have exp already they don't want to start you as a new driver, so that's why you'd start at .64. Anything after would likely scale normally. My guess at least

So not only can you can you not protect with a legal firearm if/when it is necessary. You also can’t have a large dog like German Shepherd (for example) protect you either. Are they crazy or stupid? I may have to reconsider turning in my application at this company after hearing about this. My safety should come first and foremost. Period.
@bigsmoothtruckin
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
I'll tell you like one instructor told me. A. "No one comes in your truck, ever. I've been trucking for 30+ years, and no one has ever checked my truck inside, and I will always protect myself. So policy says you can't have a gun, but I'm not saying not to protect yourself." And some other stuff, basically implying what you should have caught on to. B. With the dog situation, he said, "We don't know how long you've had your dog, you could have gotten him before he got too heavy, but it's too late by that point" so again, you should be able to catch on to that. And the German Shepard breed is allowed. But yea, if those are deal breakers, that's what I made this video for, you you're aware of this. This may be a great company for me, but that doesn't mean it's a great company for everyone... just know I stay safe, trust me😌I hope this helps your decision no matter which decision that may be🙏🏽

Hey hey brother! I am back again with more questions :) Some of which you answered in the video and in the comments below but figured I would list everything here at once for everyone to see. 1) Pet policy. As you said no "aggressive" breeds which is BS as we all know. It is nurture not nature with dogs. Pits have been some of the sweetest and most gentle dogs I have ever seen. And they discriminate. Last time I talked to a recruiter and asked about pets they told me 50LB limit. I told her I had a Lab mix, she said that is fine. Never asked me mixed with what. Just so happens the other mix is American Staffordshire Terrier. So Lab/Pit. But of course my dog is 80LB but what they don't know won't hurt them. 2) I am really disappointed by the no carry policy. When I lived in GA I CCW my Springfield xD45ACP everywhere except federal buildings. I do have a 1916 Lee Enfield .303 rifle that might be old enough to be exempt from that lol. But to be honest with everyone... the largest weapon we wield is the truck. Some wanna try to jack you? lock the doors, lay down and hit the hammer. You will run over whatever they are driving and then some. 3) Yea, you can earn alot more on flatbed but it is also a ton more work. You have to jimmie the logs for the time you are strapping and tarping to make good miles 4) Do the company trucks have dash cams or do I need to provide my own to cover my ass? 5) The gov on the trucks is one of the things I am hating before I even start. The fuel savings isn't enough to make up for shipments. The more you deliver the move you make, simple as that. Let us go 75 cruise 80 passing. That would let us go 100 more miles a day. 6) If I owned a truck could I sill come on as a driver? Personally, I plan to work 1-2 years reefer with these guys then move on. Maybe 3 at the most. Fed-Ex wants 5 years XP. I refuse to drive wal-mart due to the micromanaging and super tight restrictions. I don't care how much they pay I am up in the air about if I will buy my own truck or not. I am a god bit older and not sure it is worth it. Anyway. Thanks again for this video, as you answered several questions I was going to ask man. Keep rolling and take care out there.
@bigsmoothtruckin
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
1.) I hate that, bruh. I'm a dog person, so it breaks my heart to hear "aggressive breeds" 2.) Again, I'm a gun lover, so yea, that's an unfortunate situation for me, I hate that it's a policy. It shouldn't be one. But there are definitely alternatives. 3.) Yea, true, I'm a workaholic, so I don't mind the extra work. Most days, I prefer it to be honest. I'm still young, and I take great care of my body. Just sitting here driving is bad on our backs as well, haha. 4.) No in cab facing cameras (Thank God), but yes, we do have dash cameras, so we are good there. 5.) It's the worst, lol. 6.) I believe so, but I'm not 100% sure. And that's a good plan. My original plan was to only be here a year, that now has changed to 2, and who knows how I feel then, lol. I took a while responding because I'm not a big texter, lol. I prefer to always talk over text, I didn't grow up texting. But, KZbin makes me evolve.

@@bigsmoothtruckin - No worries man, I don't particularly like typing on mobile devices either which is why I usually wait until I am on a computer haha. My lower back is pretty much already shot lol. I was in IT so I spent the last 30 years either spending all my time in an office chair, or driving a vehicle to a remote location to do some work. I have already been putting a plan together to try and stay a little healthier. Going to get a 12V freezer to hold my protein (skinless chicken, pork, beef) along with a small george foreman, small instant pot and microwave steamer. That way I can have fresh healthy dinners each night. For mornings and snacks while driving I am going to load up on apples, oranges and bananas. I still need to put together some kind of daily exercise routine such as walking around the lots if it looks safe enough with the dog, pushups, crunches, ect. While I like the truck stop food I am not going to be stuffing that in my face everyday and dying of a heart attack in 5 years, lol As for a mic, check out a wireless lavalier microphone on amazon. I picked up a set with 2 mics and the receiver that just plugs into my phone's USB-C charging port and they work great. It was around $40 all said and done.

Big dogs need a lot of exercise. Are you going to walk it a few mikes a day, or were you planning on letting it off the leash?
@bigsmoothtruckin
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
Definitely wouldn't let it off the leash as a trucker, not because of the dog but because of people. And we'd walk more than a few miles a day, lol. I love to exercise, and when owning a dog, it motivates me even more. I've owned and know so much about the breeds I want, I only get Rotties and Dobermans. His health and happiness wouldn't be an issue. The problem is other people.

For me personally, not at all. They only talk to me if one of us needs something. And when I'm home, they don't bother me at all.

Were you able to choose from regional or otr when you got your CDL through them?
@bigsmoothtruckin
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
No, it's harder to get a regional position, most people get OTR unless your trainer happens to be regional, other than that, there's usually a long wait to even be considered (from what I've heard)

Thanks for the video! I just had a quick question, how many miles do you average per week?
@bigsmoothtruckin
@bigsmoothtruckin Жыл бұрын
No problem, thank you for watching, lol. And I'd say in between 2,200 - 2,700 miles a week. It actually varies. But my lowest was like 1,800 miles, I believe (which was only once I think), and my highest was 3,200 miles (I've gotten 3k miles a few times).

@moogiepie75 You caught me at a good time lol, just getting back on the road Tuesday. I appreciate your support, and I'll definitely put out more videos. Imma be out for 7 weeks, so at the end of that, I'll likely drop a video on every pay I've had for this 7 weeks out. And that's all I want to do is help others make the best decision for themselves. Also, I try and respond to everyone in a timely manner, haha. It's getting harder with so many people but I try🙏🏽

I will call them tomorrow and see if I can get a spot. Thanks for putting these out here, and I hope they will recognize the service that channels like yours can be to the company.

This is a video for new drivers to learn about KLLM. I'm a driver for KLLM, so I am honest about pros and cons, so that number 2 is to let people know that it isn't available with us. I know a few flatbed companies that will hire me know paying much more, but I'm happy here. Nice try, though, lol. Also, when I first applied, my biggest concerns were money and home time, and with this company, I have that. 🙏🏽
