Thanks! Makes it easy to transfer the oil to a larger container for recycling. The only time that jug is a problem is if the mower is overfilled.

Hello, Love your video's. They are very informative. I have a Honda mower HRR2169VYA which has an automatic choke. It starts and runs fine, but when it warms up and the choke is off it dies when you engage the blades. While the choke is still on the blades engage fine and the engine runs fine. But when the choke comes off the engine stalls when the blades are engaged. I have cleaned the carb, changed the plug, replaced the fuel, checked the gas cap, but I cant figure out why it stalls when its warm. HELP !
@TheLawnmowerLady4 ай бұрын
I had a similar issue with my HR215 after about 8-10 years. I adjusted the cables to basically make the engagement earlier. Increasing the RPM didn't hurt either. Over time springs and cables stretch. Follow the governor arm return spring to it's termination point. Bend the bracket just a bit to put more pressure on the spring. Hope this helps.

In all honesty, I would be searching FB marketplace, craigslist, etc., for a gently used HRX from a few years ago with the GCV160 engine NOT the 170 engine. Far better machine than the last ones they made. IMO they cut way too many corners on the last machines they made, specifically the HRN series. I did a review of sorts here ( with an emphasis on those changes): kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5-8dqekfMycjsU I appreciate you watching. Cheers!

Enjoy your vid's. Especially the ones concerning the Honda engines as I have a Husqvarna HU 700u with a GCV160 engine. My question is about ethanol free gas. I live in the DFW area and have found ethanol free gas at several stations in the area. What octane rating should I use; 87, 90 or 92? I also have a Craftsman WS2200 2 cyl string trimmer. I wouldn't think that my Husqvarna wouldn't need a lot of octane, but what about the string trimmer?
@TheLawnmowerLady8 ай бұрын
My honest opinion is go for the 90 (the ethanol free I use is 89). Adding oil will drop the octane a small amount, but likely not 3 points. Using any higher octane is probably a waste of $$$. Higher octane is good for high compression engines to keep from burning a hole in your piston. That said, the premium canned fuels (Stihl Motomix® and Aspen) all are based on high octane (92-93) fuel. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!

People don’t realize that these mowers are set up to run rich at the factory. Even after first couple uses, look at the spark plug color and you’ll see what I mean. They assume everyone will run them during hot weather, so they don’t start very well when it’s colder temperatures outside. I don’t know if the carburetor richness can be adjusted on these.
@TheLawnmowerLady8 ай бұрын
This particular carb does have a mix adjustment screw, but it is limited with a restrictive cap, that easily wrecks the adjuster when removed. It moves less than 1/8 turn, and it's near about impossible to adjust while the machine running. It's buried deep behind the airbox. Thanks for watching!

Is it necessary to use oil specific for lawnmower engines or standard or synthetic 10W-30 ?
@TheLawnmowerLady2 ай бұрын
Someone much wiser than me said: "The right amount of the wrong oil is better than the wrong amount of the right oil" That said, I have heard rumours that it's not a good idea to mix synthetic with conventional, but other than that... I'd put any old 10w30 in the crankcase.

@TheLawnmowerLady5 ай бұрын
Nothing on the market today is any match for a machine made 10 years ago. If I were looking for a "new" mower, I would be searching out a nice used Honda HRX217 with the older GCV190 engine. NOT the newer GCV200 engine. There are many of them out there on FBmarketplace and craigslist. The best ones are have the "roto-stop" blade clutch. Basically you are starting the engine (very easily) as you are not trying to turn over the engine with the added inertia of the blade spinning. I made a video about the latest Honda mowers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5-8dqekfMycjsU Way too much cost cutting IMO

We cleaned the carb out yesterday for one that was gifted to us. But when we pull the handles for the blades it stops unless we do it very slowly. Any ideas?
@TheLawnmowerLady2 ай бұрын
Cable adjustment usually will take care of that, along with an RPM adjustment. RPM is pretty easy, follow the governor arm to where the return spring terminates. Bend that tab slightly to change the RPM. More tension on the spring = higher RPM. Don't overdo it. If it sounds like its revving crazy high, it probably is.
