I have a Toro 6.5 hp with a Tecumseh engine. It looks like the bracket that the cable attached to does not move enough to deactivate the brake. The cable looks ok. What do I do. I think this is a faulty design
@TheLawnmowerLady10 сағат бұрын
You can try bending the other end of the bracket, or possibly replacing the spring?
@daveshostack49506 сағат бұрын
@@TheLawnmowerLadyTHE BRACKET DOES NOT BEND ENOUGH TO PULL THE SPRING ENOUGH. MY PREDICTION IS IT WILL EVENTUALLY DESTROY THE CABLE. THIS IS A VERY DUMB MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. BRIGGS NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. IF YOU GIVE ME YOUR EMAIL I CAN EMAIL PHOTOS TO SHOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. I TRIED CALLING TORO AND THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND TOLD ME TO PAY A DEALER TO SERVICE IT.

Not what I was expecting, based on your title. Aaaggghhh! These tips may be helpful for the younger dumber folks, but I certainly hope by the time I'm too old /unable to lift something safely into the bed of my truck, I will have the wisdom & experience of using my brain & the basic common sense of leverage. As for the "safely" aspect... for crying out loud! Keep a bungee cord, rope, scrap lumber. etc in your vehicle to secure what you're hauling, because accidents are unplanned. Don't put someone else at risk for your stupidity & laziness.

Great channel, awesome video. Would you mind reviewing which (diameter, length, thread count) bolt goes where? I'd removed the plastic shroud held in with screws, then the fuel tank assembly. Then unbolted the metal top covering. After that I'd also removed the air filter and bolts holding the breather box to the carb. So yeah, I have this model in a few pieces and am missing a few bolts. Or have some in the wrong spot.😅
@TheLawnmowerLadyКүн бұрын
I would go to any major parts house (partstree, jackssmallengines, repairclinic, etc.) to look at the specific diagram for your engine model #. Should be stamped on a flat metal plate peeking out from under the plastic shroud, covering the muffler.

I have a Generac RS7000E. Just followed your video and cleaned the carburetor. (Great video by the way. VERY helpful!) It still won’t start. I followed another video suggestion and unplugged the low oil shutoff sensor to see if it was defective and preventing it from starting but that didn’t help either. Any suggestions?
@TheLawnmowerLadyКүн бұрын
A couple of thinks to try... squirt a little fuel directly into the carb throat. If it sputters and coughs a bit, you've confirmed spark and compression. The problem is fuel flow. Start with the basics: spark, fuel, and air. Thanks for watching.

Sounds like you float needle is sticking. Double check it's not jammed up in there, the pivot pin is seated as well as the float bowl in the correct orientation. Good luck.

When i pull my mower lever to the tortoise slow idle mode it cuts out, does this mean my carb needs cleaning?
@TheLawnmowerLadyКүн бұрын
Sometimes? There is an idle adjustment screw that's difficult to get to behind the airbox. It opens the throttle just a bit.

Great Video. Thanks for taking the time and being so thorough. I have the same carb, but without the choke/governor plate. I noticed that you only used the "O-Ring", but the gasket on the mating surface to the engine. There is one that came with the kit (498260). Do I not need that gasket with this application?
@TheLawnmowerLadyКүн бұрын
Lots of different models out there, so I can't be too specific... Only replace what you remove. Most of those kits include extra items to cover multiple different carb models. That said, if the fiddle faeries have been in there before you got this mower, it's hard to tell.
@garytompkins38724 күн бұрын
Great video! Same mower here. It's making a bit of noise when I engage the drive... a repetitive click or clack or clunk (?), every few seconds (but not at consistent intervals) that is louder when mowing than when running it on the driveway with the front wheels up. The shaft+blade turn by hand without the belt moving. Without the engine running, of course, when when I pull the drive engage bar, it doesn't affect the tension of the belt. Should it? I've had this mower a few years but never noticed this sound. If it's normal and has been there all along... I'll chalk it up to old age I guess. :-) It seems to do its job, but the noise I think, is indicative of an issue. Maybe one of the wheels? Thanks!

Hi. @1:01 your right index finger is pointing to a screw that is missing from a customer's carburetor. How does one replace these?.
@TheLawnmowerLadyКүн бұрын
The two screws that require a 7mm socket are crucial to make sure there is a good seal between the airbox and the carb. If your model has a priming bulb, it will not work as well. Take the other screw out and take to a good local hardware store... ace or truvalue (lows and HD don't have a good of a selection of smaller screws) Worst case look up the diagram on partstree or jacksmallengines (I'm partial to partstree as they have live inventory levels online)

Nice video, good clear instructions! Several points: 1) Many starter fluids have an upper cylinder lubricant, although I don't know how much or how well they work. 2) Gasoline is highly flammable and is dangerous to use as a cleaning solvent so be careful! NO SPARKS and only use outside. One can spray the outside with carb cleaner in a spray can to keep the volume of fluid down. Alternatively, one can get gallon size containers of carburetor dip such as Berryman Chem-Dip. Not the cheapest, but only slightly flammable, and don't need an agitator. None of these chemicals are good to get on your skin...
