Kudos to you for dropping all assists straight out of the box. It's a slower way to learn a new course, but I'm sure it's also more rewarding as a sense of accomplishment. I hate having a big green line on my course, so I like it when games allow us to turn on the "corners only" option.

Believe me, I know how tough it is but maybe start with auto ERS (not the best idea but bare with me). Practice your gear shifting. I assume that is with your right hand and using Square and X to shift. Practice Practice and Practice eventually it will become muscle memory. Then enable the ERS manual and you don’t really need to worry about the gears as you have already mastered that. I too was in your shoes last year but a KZbin comment helped me 😀

@TheWeeaboo 1:09 in Monaco is way above like 3k-4k people. It starts at low 1:07s. My TT run is what top 1000 has as a regular race pace lol. And my Canada is definitely due to my S3. I cant even imagine how many hundreds of TT run I messed up on the last chicane hah. Yeah. I mostly did ranked races. Too bad that 25% is dead. And with my Master/Safety A it is nearly impossible to find a ranked lobby 5 laps after 6pm EST. I'll probably just get a new 2021 edition game next summer, if it actually get released. Hopefully I'll get more action there.

@TheWeeaboo Yeah. Their rank system is very flawed. I lost count already of how many times during the race I lock up in the wet and run wide and game shows "severe corner cutting, 10 sec penalty" and my safety rating just plunges down by 50% LOL. Or every time I get crashed out by someone else who misses a break point and I get collision 3 sec penalty. =_=. Not to brag, but I am usually 1-2 seconds faster a lap in open lobbies since they mostly consist of bronze-silver drivers. Sometimes I am excited to see a fellow master rated drivers and anticipating a cool challenge and guys just fail to even get to the top 25% runners lol. Or if they see they cant catch up a couple races in a row - they just quit the lobby. Just a boatload of disappointment in this multiplayer.

I never expected to have problems with manual gears since I've been playing racing games with manual shifting for several years now and it was fine. But F1 just so much different from racing in more "usual" cars, like touring for example, mostly because there's so many gears, I mean, I'm used to drop 2-4 gears before a tight turn, but 6? Sounds like dropping to neutral to me, turned out I stop mentally counting downsifts after four and tend to overdo it. Still learning this whole thing from scratch, probably have just about 10 hours of expirience with F1 and proper racing wheel, not a keyboard (never play a racing game on a keyboard if you can!), a lot of things to get used to. I started to drop assists one by one, currently learning how to drive withiout ABS and already decreased traction control to it's medium setting. Now that I remember that manual shifts are a great help in managing both braking and acceleration, I wonder, should I drop all assists at once and learn it the hard way, not to form any weird useless muscle habits from utilising unique combination of assits, or continue to progress slowly, but easy?..
@derdampflok5 жыл бұрын

@juke_sl64dk635 жыл бұрын
Engine braking is not over reving the engine, that would destroy an engine. Engine braking is just a simple change of gear ratios. It's really for the engine to rotate the wheels in 1 gear, for example, but that makes it very hard to go the other way. If you have ever tried to push start a motorcycle or such, you will notice that the higher gear, the easier it roles.

mhh no, the general rule is to brake before turning in, when wheels are still straight. something like this: fulls speed -> brake -> downshift and turn, leaving the car rolling. You can practice in 1 to 4 corners and hairpin in China, then Monza (Prima Variante, Roggia and Ascari) and the "S curves" in Suzuka and the 3 to 9 curves in Austin. They are (at least for me) very challenging and a good training ground to build up a good (or bad) laptime.

F1 2019 is hilarious. Imagine buying F1 2018 and 11months later paying $100 for what is essentially a couple of name changes for the campaign AI and a "9" in the name. That has to sting almost as bad as Fallout 76.

Don’t ever speak in public again, for the sake of every one in the comments and your own sake too. Never ever speak unless spoken to.
