This is soo much fun talking about pedals. I've used so many over the years. All of the ones you're using are great. I've played most of them so far. I'm using a Boss Turbo Overdrive instead of the BluesDriver. I bought all my pedals as they became avilable years ago when the dinosaurs were still playing. I remember my Uncles telling me Music was better when they were playing. I started in the Van Halen Era. I'm a dinosaur too I guess.

I think it was a good summary too. I have tried other pedals but never bonded with some (chorus, flanger). My essentials are LP into a Treble Boost > Tuner > Compressor > Overdrive > Delay > Amp (Fender Reverb). Have a few of the others in there, but normally on bypass (Phaser/Fuzz/Wah/EQ).

i think this is excellent advice and i would like to add some auxiliary information. i ended up playing a lot of afternoon, outdoor gigs, with 10 minute band-change times. more pedals just equals more pain in the bum, in such a situation. like many of the other commentors, i advise getting an amp with built-in reverb, clean, dirty and dirty-volume-boost facilities (i wish they would also include volume boost on the clean channel, but i have never seen that). way less pedals, for a practical situation. one of the worst problems in daytime outdoors is ya can't see the active light, on most pedals. often, pedals crackle, hiss or even shut down your signal chain. always ram your quarter inch plugs in and out of the jacks on your pedals (kinda like intercourse) to clean off the connection-corrosion which causes this. from the perspective of listening to bands, i find that when people just click on a wah pedal, then leave it alone, they get the coolest, throaty, filtered sound on lead passages. if you are going to use a delay pedal, get someone in the audience to record your sound. i have heard so many guitar signals, smeared to the point of unrecognizability by poorly-set delay pedal controls. this could also go the "fun" effects (like phaser, chorus or flanger). you may find, in a live situation, that they actually detract from a good, solid, present guitar sound.

Tuner - Compressor - Blues Driver - Chorus- Delay - Reverb With these i found 3 basic setups which i photo'd the dials for and printed a little guide as my memory would never remember them. Now when the wife and kids are not around i can turn on and turn up and noodle away happy with the sounds, although i doubt anyone else would be :) PS great vid only problem is I now want a phaser but dont have room on my pedal board. Thanks a lot :P

Medic6666 were you at a point when you felt stumped in learning progression? Did getting your pedal board help overcome that?
@Medic66664 жыл бұрын
@@AceTheMenace. Sort of. Because i didn't like the sounds i was getting from the amp (which could be just me and not setting it correctly) i just didn't bother to practice. I saw a couple of pedal board videos and decided to just try it and found that the sounds i got from the pedals were easier to setup and to me sounded nice. That nice sound got me practising again and now my 9yr old daughter has started learning because she like practising with different sounds. so for us having a pedal board with some cheap pedals on it has saved our music journey. Just for info the pedals i have in there order on the board: Landlord - Tuner (Lock In) Landlord - Compressor (Cheeky Pint) Boss - Blues Driver BD-2 ToneCity - Chorus (Angel Wing) Landlord - Delay (Tap Room) ToneCity - Reverb (Tiny Spring) I didn't buy them all at once so had the chance to play around with 2 at a tine to tweak them and work out what worked for me. Hope this helps.

While wah pedals and phasers/flangers are incredibly fun, I don’t recommend getting them if you’re building a board to actually play live through (unless you’re playing classic rock or metal). If you get a medium range or descent Amp with reverb on it, just save money or space for another essential effect: chorus. Get into The Police, Joe Satriani to Metallica or more modern metal bands, there is always a clean part or a solo with chorus. This is my suggestion for a best buy.
