things I’ve learned - baskets for sheets. Put the set of sheets inside the pillow case. -the bags that suck flat are great for extra blankets and comforters.

I hear you regarding wrapping. For the past couple of years I have used ordinary brown parcel wrapping paper. I pretty it up with cheap red ribbon and a bit of fake greenery, plus a nice tag. I have actually had people say how much they love my wrapping. (Of course, I'm not sure what that says about the actual gift, when they talk about the wrapping, rather than the gift!). This year I am giving food hampers to everyone. No future clutter in their homes and if they don't like any of it they can at least donate it to the nearest food bank. Having spent so much time decluttering my own home, it felt rather hypocritical to fill my friend's and family's homes with clutter.

My kids are grown, we only give gifts to the grandchildren. We have tried the exchanges among adults where you draw a name, but people are so hard to buy for, so we stopped that too. Our holiday focus now is just to be together with good food and playing games and no one misses the gifts. It's a huge relief!

Love the water in the glass analogy!!! Also how did I not know you had a LEGO room!!!! I am working on my Lego winter village right now; it is the only "stuff" I am allowing to come into my house. It is motivating me to declutter more, so that I have room for more Legos, lol.

Ha! I have those flannel sheep sheets too...love them!! So cosy!! Our cat, Milo, loves them too, and we have to be careful not to leave the linen closet open or he swoops into it and snuggles down on them! Discovered your channel a few months ago, and am enjoying your videos so much! I've been decluttering (actually Swedish Death Cleaning) for the last 5 months and feel so much better and happier! I’ve been buying neutral wrapping paper for years. So convenient. I have also kept quite a few Christmas-y gift bags that we have been using and reusing for a few years now. Those actually never leave the house since I only use them for my daughter’s or my hubby’s presents. I also try not to wrap everything and avoid bows etc, because it’s all so wasteful.

In closets, We started using Space Savers. The kind you load and suck out the air. Oh My Gosh! Glorious!! So much space is actually added. This would be perfect for your sleeping bag situation. 👍🏼

Years ago I transitioned to plain wrapping paper. Use craft paper and twine…..for every occasion! I spiff it up with a piece of greenery or flower pulled from an old floral pick or a hand painted gift tag. I found when keeping and storing traditional wrapping paper, the paper would break down and deteriorate making it unusable after I carefully gave it a home. The same with bows. I like the look of the twine and put extra knots in the strings of the bows. Linen closet : thank you for giving me permission to pass on those quilts I made a decade or so ago, that the colors do not go with anything and I never use them. Having decaf black tea in Dallas, Pennsylvania.

This really is the perfect time to declutter! I am comfortable decluttering items I haven't used in 2 years (sometimes circumstances change) and I keep the most sentimental holiday items. The rest should be used. I love the simplified wrapping! I am beginning to think every season has certain things we use only in the season, maybe a seasonal checklist is in order for me.

I don't get along with tape, so wrapping gifts is a miserable job. My elderly mother gets her meds delivered in very cute, plain brown bags. I use those for gifts with simple white tissue paper.

So,this isn't particularly for Christmas but rather for Easter time. I might still put an Easter basket together for someone or ourselves, but I never save Easter baskets, Easter grass, or all those little decorations that go with it. With the advent of the dollar stores, it is ridiculous to try to save space for those items when they cost pennies to just replace them.. Just saying😂 🏖Kj in Tampa Bay ❤️
