Bonus tip, learn to play your strengths and weaknesses before learning to play your opponents strength and weaknesses. If your fun comes from playing a hero a certain way, what makes it feel strong? I picked Rubick to try my hand in pos 4 instead of preferring pos 3. I felt like a god laning with my friend as pos 3 DK. Tried the pair safelane the next game, got detroyed. Learned my friends playstyle too. Neither of us are great, but I noticed my friend rushed pos 3 items over pos 1, and maxed his passive and 1st item aghs with no other way to farm from behind. But I also made mediocre choices so now I know what enables me and what disables. Not one game's conditions will be repeated exactly, don't fall in the trap of thinking what made you win last game is going to make you win this time. And for my other point, remember, what makes you suffer will likely make the other guy suffer if you watch how he does it. Rewatch the guy that kicked your ass every now and then and take notes.

I agree that communication is important but you can reach 5-6k mmr without it. Just using chat wheel. Micro, macro, positioning, peak of strength of your hero - most players don't understand that on low rating. Sometimes I just block messages from all players in settings. It helpful to be concentrated during all game. 3-4 heroes, replays - that a really good tips. P.s. I apologize if i have mistakes. English not my main language.

Then I spam BB, that was a couple of patches ago, I stopped at Divine 1 because they're already easily countering me at that rank. I use a different account now still playing offlane but I use different heroes now, it's legend-ancient.

Should mention cons of prepick. Deciding what youre going to play before the game regardless of enemy or your team draft is a sure way to screw your chances of winning completely. Mastering 5~ heroes per role will get you to about 60% winrate but add correct drafting on top of that will easily put you up to 70% even at a same skill bracket as your own. Youll win significantly more than you lose with just one change and might even be put into smurf queue so youll play with higher skill opponents and allies.

backup role is an important one, personally I learned to enjoy playing 4 a lot so i would queue for it without even considering playing 1 or 3 and also acknowledged for myself i enjoy 3 more than 1

Main support. But I play 3 as well. Pet peeve is supporting a 3 who can't last hit or creep aggro. Typically a sign I'm in a losing game. In the past I would get that feeling of hopelessness and it would negatively affect my gameplay but now I play that type of game with a different mindset. Automute/Ignore teammates showing up to only good fights, get flamed and split push. It sometimes turns the tide, delays game and we win. Or we lose because all lanes lost anyways. In the end I say gl next. Side note: my 2 current goals are learning how to get teammates not to be so passive after laning in winning games. I win lane in 70% of games but still lose 50%. And how to get the team to take fights together Late game under vision. They insist on being alone or fighting on the opposite side of the map of where our vision is.

My role is mostly 3&4, but I dabble in 1&5. I can do 2 but it's my least favorite. I like 4 the best. So this is my advice to supports who have a core that can't last hit. If the hero needs farm, let them miss. They are their creeps to hit or miss. If they aren't a greedy hero, take the last hits they might miss. Try to help by pulling agro, side pulling, and putting pressure in the lane, but don't forget, it is better to creep secure and take a little too much than get starved for xp. Some 3s can solo too. Try to think, will their lane be better with my help near or far.

@@aluchan3635 I would agree with you especially for position 1. Seen many pos 1 terrible early but wins late. Not the same of pos 3. Typically in my games that Core is so bad and those are just indicators that they don't know what they're doing. Can't creep aggro or last hit, how can they itemize for the team or initiate properly. It's like having two pos 5 in the game, but a feeding one. I do say Typically a sign so obviously it's not always the case. :)

@@MilohRhed yes agreed, I do all those things. But it's just a sign of things to come. If they're really bad, they give up and leave lane and I become the pos 3 (I don't flame them or speak to them, they just do it). Or they stay in lane and I pull give them solo xp and then go help other lanes until they get kicked out. Dota is so complicated but like I said failing at basic mechanics are a sign of a losing game. (And I don't mean a few missed last hits, I mean 90%). Lol. Can't win them all.

How are they even in legend then? I play in guardian/crusader and everyone buys bkb and most carries buy correct items needed for the situation. Only problem i see in lower ranks is people not picking right hero for the situation, and even going carry on offlane etc

dp centa is rly rly strong this patch, i would suggest getting 1 damage based offlaner like lc, or marci basically someone who can scale into the late game just in case ur carry picks something weird like slardar or a hero that lacks damage and ur mid also picks a support type hero and feed

Me neither has a single role.I can't play all of the heroes but I try to practice all roles as much as possible + tricks training for fundamental creeps killing and blur blur blur. Most importantly Im solo player I don't have much choice it's just do or die.Thats why I try to train myself competent rather than blaming someone else or throwing which definitely won't make you win and losing your time.My biggest issue is not havingy own Pc.It sucks. Nearest internet cafe ain't open untill like 3 PM and close it at 8:30 PM. I reached legend last 4 years ago.Im not pro player but I hope my comment is useful to anyone else how not to lose and be a boss

I'm a support main but every time that I try to play core some mid player play lina 5 and taking my farm, not warding, and not help out in lane i.e hitting the enemy offlane or sp, expecting me to get 100% of the farm with no help and then take my farm and say I'm ganna be a better carry then you then become nothing late game.

Watching this made me realize that, since I used to be Divine, and now after 3 or 4 seasons without calibrating I lost 2k mmr, it's time to expand my hero pool. I can spam a lot of heroes to get better now cause the players on my games are way worse than they used to be. On the positive side, I have already played all the carry heroes, I just need to be decent on the other half I don't play frequently
