Not many discuss power feeders but they need more attention. I built all the cabinets for our new home from rough cut rift/quartered white oak and my power feeder on the table saw saved my arms and my fingers. Not only is a power feeder a great labor saver but it also makes consistent rips with no nicks that you might get by hand feeding and kick back is eliminated with no riving knife. I have a 1/4 HP power feeder (Maggi Steff) that sells for $750 and a Magswitch kit to hold it down on my cabinet saw. Spending $1500 for these was well worth it IMO, especially for boards longer than 4'. You can also use this power feeder on your jointer and router table with the right setup. Example below: My last project was to make a white oak slatwall ~20' long x 9' high. I bought 8/4 lumber, planed the lumber to 1-3/4", then ripped 101 pieces 7/8'" thick, then planed to 5/8" thick. I then moved the power feeder to the built-in router table on my saw and ran all 101 pieces using a 1/8" roundover in the climb cut direction to eliminate possible tearout. This can only safely and accurately be done with a power feeder. White oak easily gets tearout even with small diameter bits running in the normal direction. I know this from experience unfortunately. My power feeder is by far the best accessory I've ever purchased for my shop!
