I was pretty upset that the hug island, sushi restaurant or adobe house didn’t make it.
@memyselftheone6 ай бұрын
Pretty disappointed, honestly. Only the boat seems interesting; the rest is just more of the same imo. But then again, I don't care about trains or the medieval theme. The riverside scholars set's look appeals to me, but the fact that it's an open back made me lose interest in it. I also just think that this wave could definitely have used a small set (for instance instead of one of the two (!) medieval themed sets).

I wish they wouldn’t go back to the same creators for each series. I also wish that they were more transparent with the selection process. Too many excellent designs have not been selected and what has been is mostly repetitive

As a new designer who is hoping to enter into BDP Series 5, it is really discouraging to see repeat winners, and it's already intimidating to enter a set into the challenge when there are so many great designs. Bricklink tries to get an average piece count of 2,500 pieces between the 5 finalist sets which is why you see the piece counts that you do. I think they should be a little more flexible in that regard.

I am most impressed with the work of Nicolas Cartier ... the Merchant Boat will be my 4th set I have purchased that was designed by him. Including "The City Library" and "Caravan Theatre" from the Bricklink's MOC store; and The Parisian Street from Series 1. I do wish Bricklink will bring back the MOC store so we can purchase/build the "rejected" sets from these very talented designers. And, BTW, another excellent video - excellent production values and content!

I was very disappointed with the bricklink team's choices for this series because out of the 5 finalists, 4 of them have already won a previous series and I was hoping for more variety but all we got was the usual Castle, trains and seaside stuff. There is two Castle sets this time and there is not enough small sets, I think they should bring down the max limit of pieces to 3000 or less.

The boat is pretty, but I like it when it's recognisable that it would also work in reality. And I don't see that here. It would certainly tip over quickly. What's more, the man steering it can barely see out.

The seaside market feels like it could pass for a pirates theme with just a couple changes. I like to see some variety but it makes sense that BDP would select more than one medieval set since the Castle in series 1 sold out so fast!

I really love the seaside castle (will get one). I am mixed on the siege camp. If the price is right, I will want at least 2 of them. if not ... I might just get one for the collector's value and make some palisades from my spare pieces - this is a set that should have been sold as multiple smaller sets to mix and match what you want to get as many times as you need it.

Ps imho what makes a set good isnt narration ir random parrots, it s the design itself. I do not wanna a story already written on it, just give me the thing and ima write my own stories. Somehow those random details kinda ruin it for me sometimes. Nah. Too much.
@dariobseuw2 ай бұрын
they need to give a break to this medieval themes, i know the reason we got 2 medieval sets is because Lego blocked highers and they went with that one. serie 4 is terrible done, the only set that is really keeping it floating is the boat... no joke intended. Also i am sorry but they also need to stop selecting the same designers, atleast no in a consecutive way, this way we give room to others to get the chances i am also supporting the idea to bring the maximun amount of pieces to 3000, too expensive and they dont understand that the bigger the set is the less chances to be selected because it is not just your design only what is competing. it should be a relation in between themes, for example city, pirate, medieval, wild west, nature etc... (giving space for all of them to appear, 2 trains in 4 series so far is not acceptable, and we all know the 2nd overshadowed the 1st one) no designs with an story line in it, this is because it feels forced to choose them, and i am talking about the ocean house and this scholar set. glad lego restrict the modulars only for them, it is only full of modulars with similar buildings my opinion.

only issue with medieval & lego is there all big or medium sets which hurts the theme also (as i do like medieval theme). maybe if lego also did smaller more cheaper sets for medieval theme would get more love overall possibly as big fanbase for theme is mostly adults i think not children.
