We moved to Waterloo and in our rented apartment I and my husband decided to clean the backsplash and the area behind the cook top. When we moved our cook top the floor underneath was so gross. There was food splash marks on the side of the cooktop and I used Melissa’s (baking soda + dish liquid mix) tip and everything got super clean. The dwell time is indeed super important when dealing with tough stains. Thank u Melissa. U r a saviour.

Melissa, love your videos!! Here is a tip for you, from an IT pro. Compressed air just sends the dust and debris in to the air to land elsewhere. I always turn the keyboard upside down above a flat surface, like the desk. Give it a few taps. Turn it back and give it a vacuum. If you are at work you can use the sticky end of a post it note to clean between the keys. Also, a cheap stiff bristle paint brush (longer bristles than a toothbrush) is great to keep near by. Works great for cleaning between the keys. Big tip: lock the computer or turn it off to prevent the computer from responding to the keys while you are cleaning it. Looking forward to more great cleaning videos.

rhoni0830 I find keyboards some of the most disgusting things anywhere, so I try to clean them and even disinfect them when I can. I wasn't thrilled with the method of cleaning keyboards here either-sometimes I fully dismantle mine (if I can). I would actually clean the keyboard in another more cleanable room or on the floor where I could then vacuum up the nastier bits that fall out.

Melissa, I had to come here and leave a comment. yesterday I decided to clean the metal net of the exhaust vent. I don't think it has been cleaned for the last 7 years. I used the oxi clean method and the water was hot but not boiling. Left overnight and today it was like brand freakin' spanking new!!! I cannot believe it!!! Even a plastic piece that covers the lamp got grease free!!! OMG!!! I am going to post your video on Facebook for all my friends that live in the U.S. To learn this. Not sure the exhausts look the same back home in Europe!!! Unfreakin' believable!!!

I've noticed many people forget the area on cookstoves, under the top where the pans sit and under the burners and drip pans some models have a hinged plate that you can access by removing the hardware and the prop stick is generally on the right side. This is a basic catch all for all that overflows plus thick layers of grease. This needs cleaned often to avoid fires. most people don't even know it's there, you may have to hunt but it's worth it esp if you're battling insects. Tfs

I've been asking for two years to show a demo for cleaning a glass shower. There are so many conflicting ways on the internet, and your methods have always worked for me. Let me know if I've missed an episode on this subject, thanks for sharing :)

Susan J. I went through a period where I watched a lot of auto detailing videos, and to clean windows, one thing I found was to use 0000 gauge (four zeros) steel pads, the strands of which are thin enough and won't scratch glass, and the product Invisible Glass, which unlike Windex, etc, doesn't leave behind a coating. Haven't watched/found Melissa's glass cleaning vids yet, but I started using the 0000 steel/Invisible Glass on every shower part I can find, tile, grout, glass, and it's very good. When sunlight comes in through morning/evening windows, I can see the glass is slick and perfectly clean. Don't ever use the steel on metal taps or knobs or anything though, a soft sponge does the trick.
@cleanmyspace9 жыл бұрын
Susan J. We have that on our to-do list. We don't have a glass shower door so it is a little harder to coordinate. But it is something we do want to touch on as we know it's an issue!
@HappilyNappy0009 жыл бұрын
The best way to clean your glass showers is to use your shower cleaner on it first. I also struggled with cleaning mine but it was because I went straight to cleaning it with "glass cleaner" and didnt think of the scum and dirt. So now i use my shower cleaner first, which will clean that dirt right off. Rinse and then use my glass cleaner and my shower doors stay clean and look amazing. Hope that helps!

so glad my mom is a clean freak, most of these things we were taught to do every time we clean. we have almost always had cats, dogs or both so we were taught, every time you vacuum you pull the cushions off the furniture, you vacuum the area you mentioned, also the cusions themselves, the back of the couch, the sides, tip it up and get underneath also. every couple months we pull out the fridge AND stove, and clean all that nasty, run the washer through a cycle with vinegar, clean any dispensing trays weekly, move dressers and other furniture regularly to clean, vacuum the walls and ceiling dust webs, fans, light fixtures, honestly now that I think about everything we do I cannot figure why our house always seems messy. guess its better to look messy, than to actually be unclean.
@kelatzer8 жыл бұрын
I have a top load washer, so I do a soak cycle with Simple Green, extra rinse, and then a good wipe down inside and around the top of the rim (also works great for the dishwasher). I also only clean my microfiber clothes in the wash with Simple Green or vinegar in place of detergent.

I recently noticed a foul odor in my bathroom near the toilet. No, it was not the toilet. I clean it everyday because I have become so self consious about the smell! It was almost a sewer gas smell or a sulfur smell. The toilet was not leaking.There was a tiny bit of info on KZbin about an odor that can come from the tank itself especially if you have a well or are on a septic system. We are not but I decided to scrub the tank as if we were. It was pretty gunky. After draining it and scrubbing the inside walls and mechanisms down with straight bleach I let the tank fill back up and poured a whole bottle of vinegar in it. I let the vinegar sit for about 4 hrs. That was yesterday. I haven't noticed the odor yet today - hopefully it's gone. Do you have any thoughts on this? Have you ever addressed this?

My folks taught me this trick ... The use of Plexiglas will make moving your appliances easier & it's safer for your flooring! A couple sheets of 3/8" Plexiglas (bullet proof Acrylic) or whatever thickness is strong enough to not break, crack or become damaged by transferring your appliances. One piece, cut to size, stays under the appliance in its home position. Now it's time...the dreaded time to move the appliance out so you can clean...what do you do? Unplug appliance and prepare area for moving. Put 2nd piece of Plexiglas directly in front of the appliance to be moved. Be sure the edges are butted up snugly and securely. The outer piece will want to shift with the appliance transfer. Depending on how much room you need and how far it needs to go, you may want to have an additional sheet of Plexiglas on hand.

The apartment is an absolute mess! I am the only person in the current house who cleans and HATES dirt and clutter. There is no negotiation as I have calmly speaking to them before. You have your very own microfiber cloths! Wow! I'm so proud! I usually comment using my personal account Diana Patterson so hopefully that rings a bell. Anyway, I'm excited to see and try out your microfiber cloths. Great video! I recently spilled OJ so under the fridge is already checked off. Yay! BUT If I had to pick a spot I would say my glass sliding door could use some attention.
