How your videos were the thing we do together as a couple (new vids can’t be watched until we’re together!) How the monthly series was a love letter to the city that solidified our move to Scotland from across the globe How the realities and practicalities for a first timer were far less intimidating and almost familiar from the two years plus watching your content Mum arrives next week for a brief check on us vacation and she’s been schooled “Ear muffs!!! Aaaaaa! This has been the highlight of my day today (and I did just have hot chocolate before meeting you sooooo….)! I’ve been going to the Museum of Scotland since I was at school (a very long time ago) it never lets you down. Dynamic Earth (down by the palace) is great whether it’s crappy weather or not. My favourite is the Museum of Edinburgh (it used to be a brothel) opposite Cannongate Church its great - and free (and the Tollbooth museum is right across the road too. But worse case scenario… find a pub with a real fire and wait out the weather, you’ll fit in with the locals. 😁

I have watched nearly all your Edinburgh videos, and have enjoyed them all. I have a special affection for the city, and of all the Scottish towns and cities, Edinburgh is, and always will be, my favourite. When I was in my twenties, I worked in the city during the 1970s, and I have the fondest memories. I really appreciate your efforts in producing these videos, and especially the lively, friendly and informal presentation. It takes me back in time to my youth. I hope to visit the city sooner rather than later, when we are allowed to. Take care x

5:14 The red-orange 'pillar box' thing on the right-hand side was designed and built at the Royal Observatory on Blackford Hill. It's a specialised astronomical camera called SCUBA and it has a class of galaxies named after it. Its detectors work at 0.1K so it's really cool.

I remember the rain in Edinburgh, which always seemed to come sideways somehow, which can make it very ugly to be outside. Great recommendation. Also crazy to see how your channel develops - thumbs up!

In a way it's cool to live in a city where you always feel like you're also surrounded by wilderness, at least weather wise .D Sometimes the wind almost takes the breath out of my lungs! Yeah that's our little living room fireplace .) Lot of flats get them "built over" these days - I assume cause they suck out warm air whenever you're not using them, but I'm glad this apartment kept this one!

You don't know me and my background - if you don't walk around judging the homeless people you're mentioning for their circumstances, you surely shouldn't judge any other strangers? I can assure you nothing has ever been handed to me on a silver platter, but I choose not to make these videos about personal challenges but about enjoyable things to do in our city instead. I wonder if you ever send out angry emails to Visit Scotland for not sending out mailers addressing "the homelessness issue".
