great video! As I am getting used to cutting shapes with hair and the like, would you be able to tell me what you used to selected the very edges of their faces and hair? Is it refine edge? Cheers

Hi Andrew, Thank you ! For the hair and all the cut I used the polygonal lasso. I roughly cut around the big part of the hair then I use the refine edge brush tool and I go on the hair. the more contrast between the hair and the background the better result !

So I basically used 1/200, f8, and iso 100. You place the flash in a small softbox on the front of the head where they are looking but behind them so you create a rim light

is there a name for this type of picture i would like to make one for my sisters but with sister at front then grandmothers faded behind- also will have to use old pictures I can find as mother & ancestors deceased

I am so sorry to ear that ! Actually I dont know if there is a name for this kind of photography. I saw an image like this a while ago and I decided to give it a try with what I had in mind !
