When you have the time please do an episode on the much neglected high porosity hair group from shampoos to deep conditioners and frequency of protein treatments. There are high porosities out there whom are not damaged. That is simply the state of the hair. We are frequently ignored. Pumpkin seed oil is slept on.

Its frustrating that when I was younger my hair seemed to grow like a weed without all of this confusing information. All I needed was a drugstore shampoo and conditioner and a detangler/ leavin conditioner. Now at 33, even with no heat styling, "better" products, minimal hair manipulation and extra mindfulness about how I treat it I still have so much breakage, dryness and slow growth. Whyyyyyyyyy 😩😩😩

Clove water 💦 and coconut 🥥 oil have significantly reduced my breakage. I also drink carrot 🥕 juice. Takes too much time to juice it and clean the juicer so I buy Boathouse Farms or what’s available. Some also recommended biotin and prenatal vitamins. Haven’t tried those yet. I’m happy the 3 Cs, clove water, coconut oil and carrot juice. 😀

I have a wardrobe of hair products that I have purchased after watching your channel. Haha! I tried the CD Wash Day Delight and if feels wonderful for the first few seconds. However, my hair gets so locked after I wash it out that I can't even untangle or section my hair to put on conditioner??? I only do 1 shampoo, focussed on scalp, with a gentle message, and then let the rinse let the shampoo run down my hair. I have high porosity, curly hair, low density, and I am at my wits end, on the verge of tears with the shedding too.....UNTIL I tried Olaplex. Woweewow! Unbelievable results. 0, 3, 4, 5, 6. A bit pricey, but for now I'll do it.

I’ve heard you say the as I am strengthening shampoo was acidic a couple times and just wanted to say that it’s not. Although the shampoo says it has aloe Vera as the second ingredient, some companies (I.e. kinky curly, desert essence) lie about the order of ingredients. Like kinky curly has all of the plant extracts listed at the top of their ingredients list for the knot today detangler when there’s no way that there’s more mango extract the product than cetyl alcohol. I have that as I am strengthening shampoo and I ph tested it using two different ph tests and one came out to 7 and the other came out to 7.5. Either way it’s nowhere near acidic so you can’t use the ingredient label as an indication of the ph value. A shampoo with a ph like this could damage high porosity hair over time and strip out hair color. If the concentrations of aloe extract were really that high then there wouldn’t be such a high ph but the laws when it comes to cosmetics are underwritten and poorly regulated.
@sparker77683 жыл бұрын
Yep, ingredient mislabeling is a reality; smart to use pH test strip when concerned.

@cutenobi3 жыл бұрын
Great question. I’m wondering the same. But maybe since it’s in a shampoo and it’s being washed out, it may not be bad.
@CurlyChemistry3 жыл бұрын
Since this is a shampoo it’ll be a little different. The humectant in the shampoo will be great for the steam in the shower. As for the colder weather coming up there will always be moisture in the air, not as much as a humid summer day but it’s still there. If you’re concerned about humectants then definitely avoid them within the 2 or 3rd ingredient within a formula. ☺️

Not meant for low porosity hair, but that’s just my experience. 🤷🏽♀️

Fragrance is usually in alignment with the marketing of that product. For example, pineapple and coconut shampoo the brand will add a pineapple and coconut scent to align with the marketing and overall experience for the consumer. If you do not like strong fragrances then you may have to look for some that have a lower amount within the formula.
