Good tips. I've been using a slower 6.3:1 reel to slow down my spinnerbait presentation and retrieve. I find a certain pace of reeling most comfortable and a 7.3:1 reel seemed a little too fast (I thought) at that pace. I have a hard time slowing down. Now you have me thinking.

We like how you think Shane. A lot of good anglers align with you on that -- the 6.3:1 is a useful tool and deserves a place in most bass angler's arsenal.

Great vid! Question on the Texas-rigged Beaver: I like to simplify my rigging and use the same type of hook for multiple presentations IF it doesn’t compromise the action of the bait. So if I’m using your 5 baits for docks, a 4/0 gammy EWG will work for texas-rigging both a Senko and a Beaver. Is there a big difference in hook-up ratio with flipping vs. EWG hooks, in your experience? Thanks!!

Hey David - Everyone seems to have their own personal preference when it comes to using straight shank vs EWG hooks. I don't think you'll notice a big difference in hook-up ratio in a straight shank vs EWG fishing around docks. For me, I tend to use straight shank hooks when I'm flipping/pitching around shallow targets unless I'm using a tube - then I'll go to an EWG hook. I would recommend trying both hook styles and see what works best for you. If you have confidence in one style vs the other - go with the one you have confidence in. The only time I would tell you to absolutely use a straight shank hook is when you are punching through grass mats and heavy vegetation. Good luck!

3/16 or 3/8? Looks 3/8.

Hi Colt, Bob prefers the 3/16 in shallow water situations to give the bait a little "hang time" before reaching bottom.
