Note on the sandbox build, you can’t place buildings on it without anchors to the ground. You will have to have foundations touching below it, or traveling across to the sandbox, which will be vulnerable to ground attacks. Unless they changed it since I last looked, the sandbox surface itself is an invalid build space.

My absolutely favorite place is under the porch, by the paint can. You have good access to stems, grass, and pebbles. And you can take advantage of only having to build one wall. Since the wood of the porch is non-destructible. If you build it in the right cubby you can build a bridge over to where the wolf spider lives and farm fangs/venom. I did mine with pebble flooring to level the area and two levels of walls bridging between the ends of the wood frame of the porch. It's tall enough to do up to like 8 floors if you really need it (I did 4)/ and did sturdy walls and arches since so many stems are available in the area. I built my walls all the way to the bottom of the porch so nothing can fly in, and each floor has its own deck (for the view and defense). I built a staircase up to the top of the porch and then a small tower to act as a base for my zipline network. When the strike back update hit, I did add a palisade wall two spaces out from my main stone wall, and now have 3 doors you have to break to enter my base. Other than the periodic wolf spider walking by, it's pretty quiet in that spot. Then I just have micro-bases everywhere else. And I've set up an airport-like network of ziplines. Basically, I have a few tall towers (one tall enough to jump on top of the hedge, and one between the upper yard and pond that is in the leaves of the oak tree). But have a Regional tower/local tower setup. So I can zip to and from local areas of interest to a major tower that's tall enough to zip anywhere on the map.

I keep hearing that the bugs only attack where your respawn point is set, is that true? So I could have my respawn point away from my main base and be fine?

nah it wasnt like that for me, i was in my second base where my respawn point were not, and they came all the way to me

I built near one the the juice boxes there is a little piece of land that lifts up and there's a rock and a leaf with a twig leaning on the back end, it's nice because it's very central of the map and only one direction to defend, the twig also acts like a backdoor to your base.

My favorite base build has been on the trunk of the oak tree at or above where the mushrooms are growing. Will have to see how it fares.

I’ve had a base in the water statue since the start of the game it’s a great base idea a lot of room to go up and also has a research station

there is also a nice cove under the left Crab's claw you showed off above. Loving my fertilizer base lots of grub hides, only have to worry about the rare black ant and Big greenie but he hasnt done any damage yet. chugged along as had 4 boxes of bricks ready for update.

Hi, If i stay at my base on the baseball in the grasslands does that exclude me from air raids from bees and mosquioto's no matter how many i have killed. ive been picking bees off from the roof of my hut so was wondering if I have a bee raid imminent. thanks

im still interested what *IS* definition for base? bed, containers, walls, doors? if i'd place "checkpoint" containing lean to, fire pit and maybe one chest i doubt it'll be raided

I’m built at the spot you briefly showed at 4:03 on the very first log nearest the oak tree. I just got the message that the orb weavers want me gone and I’m worried they’re gonna wipe my base lmao. Can they climb up the logs onto my base?

You left out the undeniable best area to build a main base in the hedge ascent above the paperclip foundation off the branch nothing land based can touch you and is covered by the hedge helping against flying insects. I have not once been raided by flying insects it's always orb weavers and they just come to the bottom of the paperclip and sit there were you can just rain arrows or go down and slice them up. It's by far the best and safest place to build in the game.

Yes, sadly it's so far to the edge of the map. Of course with a zipline network you can cross the map fairly quickly. For now I have put a very high zipline tower right in the geographical center of the map (near the first field station and mysterious machine). I hope I can defend the base of it or it'll all collapse. I'm in the process of building a main base right over the machine (just enough space to crouch on its surface to push the buttons if they reset the quests again).

I have a medium-sized base on that rock between the sandbox and picnic table. There's no bugs over there (except for bees which are neutral) and there's plentyful of husky weeds, grass, and even pebblets for base structures.

I have a 3 story mansion built on the oak tree that's been unaffected since grounded first dropped on gamepass. it's way above thre roots and unreachable by any bug so far. I haven't played in a while. do spiders climb yet? if not I'm all good

Make sure to have defenses against mosquitos and bees up there. Pollen turret might be fun if they drop to their death.

I build a base around the pink flower lilypad near the twig + acorn leaf, and while thus far it’s been unmolested, before I closed in the roof, I had a ladybug spawn inside (poor thing couldn’t get out the door), and on the third floor (which was mostly a platform to make building the roof easier) A freaking wolf spider spawned. I went away for… A While, and they vanished, and after closing everything in, nothing has spawned to date.

My main base is on the big flat rock that's near the red anthill. I hope that's an ok spot, as long as it's only ants I should be able to defend, hopefully no bees come that way!

how does the insect know where a base is? is it because of the beds in a base? and if you remove the beds won't they attack it? .... have someone test that out ?

@@RJ-td6ic i think its based on having floors and walls down, because me and my friend got a raid at a base that was just that, walls and floor, no roof and some chests for repairing/storage, was a side base, it had no beds. we did have a couple of lean-to's nearby tho on a rock

As good of a base spot the pagoda base spot is I feel like it would be boring cause literally nothing is going to raid ur base I mean yeah if u have a bridge they can walk on that but u can easily defend that or simply cut it off a part of the bridge for the time being but yes this spot is really op

Don't build on the rocks, if they ever change the landscape every so slightly, then your base is f-cked. Trust me, it happened to my buddy and when he went to his base, half of it was buried in the rocks and he had to start his save over. Not a good choice. Build a floatable base out in the middle of the pond if you're someone who's gonna piss off any of the factions. Simple, done.
