5 Google Home/Google Assistant Commands & Tricks that you will ACTUALLY USE!

5 Google Home Commands that I have found to be the most useful for day to day use.
These are some of the commands that I personally use the most often and also not very common. So I hope you learn a few new useful commands and tricks from this video!
All 5 commands work with both the Google Home Mini and the original full size Google Home Speakers.

You can get the Google home to stop playing after a certain amount of time with a sleep timer. Say "set a sleep timer for 15 minutes". And the Home will stop playing after 15 minutes. No need to let it play all night.

Awesome, didn't think of using it as rain sound, love that. Some of our favorite uses: turning on and off lights, controlling temperature, as a metronome for practicing violin, connecting to You Version for Bible reading, using it as a translator just for fun, listening to riddles, timer for cooking and time outs, streaming radio, calling fam/friends while cooking without having to stop, wash my heands etc, and picking random numbers which is very useful when teaching a getting students without using the old popsicle sticks numbers thingy

You can actually set a time for it to stop playing the sounds or music. I do it every night “hey google, stop playing music in “1” hour”

You can make it one in the app. Go in the apps and on the page you start with there will be a routine option and you click it add a routine and basically add the routine you want

My 4 year old niece loves to ask Google to sing ABC’s with her. You can also tell google to count to 100...or any other number. She’ll even count backwards if you want. She also gets google to play tons of different animal sounds; “Hey google. What does a Horse say?”.

Try "Hey Google, play rain sounds for 1hr". It'll be play an hr before stopping the track. This works for Spotify too, I use it to play some nice guitar music for 45 mins when going to bed sometimes or playing music when I get up :)

You want a tip? When you talk about a list of features then keep the # on the screen. If I jump to 2:30 I have no idea if you're talking about #2, #3 or #4. Having the # on the screen will make it easier to jump around the video.

Pamela Alvarez you have to already be a Spotify premium user which is the $9.99 a month plan. This offer is only for people who been a premium user, does not apply to people just signing up for premium. Spotify is awesome idk why people don’t just use premium.. $9.99 a month is cheap and you get Hulu along with it and now they’re giving a free google home mini!

The white noise sounds will play for exactly 12 hours long. After that it stops automatically.

The only reason I was at this is because I got one today for Christmas. I recorded myself saying “Hey Google, im going to ask you some questions” then she was like you unlocked a game passage. I was like what. I played it again and it said “Ok let me get my game show hat on” so then I answered 5 questions. Then I was like is there more passages. So that’s why I’m here. And great video.

I suggest getting a "sound machine" it's a machine a little bigger than the Google home and it makes white sounds. Unfortunately you can't make any other noise than white noises. But I can't be in my room without it on.

can u connect BT to TWO minis and have stereo sound? i know when u group both of them (non BT) it plays NON stereo sound, its both mono..kinda sux u can't play stereo sounds when u group the minis, not sure bout BT tho

It's still 2 mono speakers with bluetooth on. Bluetooth just takes away the need for a connecting cable between your google mini and the device you're playing the music from.

You tube gave away free mini's for premium users. at first i didn't use it but now i use it quite a bit. the white noise/thunderstorm sounds help me fall asleep too. try the British voice is quite sexy, ask it how much wood a wood chuck could chuck. the response is pretty funny. thanks for the good vid.

My mini tells me reminders intermittently. Also, I'm a bit confused... Do I need the assistant app as well as Google home and the Google calendar? Does it matter where the reminders are entered or how they are entered as long as they are of the Google family to get playback on the device?

Irving Pagan You can pair a Bluetooth speaker with Google Home in the device settings section of the Home app. Just set it as your default speaker. Your Home device will still listen for your commands, but will route all audio through the connected Bluetooth speaker Hope this helped.
