Don't forget about smart lights, such as Phillips Hue. You can give Google Home multiple commands to change colours of lights and brightness. They make great bed lights for kids, you can turn them on and off when you're not home or on a holiday via Assistant... So many different things to do. You can also download other free apps that will change the colour of your lights for parties, etc.

Knew about all but the music alarm. So excited to be able to be woken up to music! I have been waiting for this feature. I have a Google home in every room in my house, and well, my whole house is full of smart things. Lights, plugs, switches, fans, TV's, thermostat, ect ect. Thanks a lot! I learned about the and/then stuff. I've only had my Home Mini for a couple of months now, got it free through a Spotify promotion. I just signed up for it because it was a free gadget. I used to be 95% against any device that listens to what happens in my home, as in creepy. I've totally changed my mind. I love this little critter. I have a google home and two mini's. I knew I could touch the top of the Home but had no idea you could also touch the mini and interact with it. Thanks for that ! I always tell it to stop the alarm in the morning (this takes too long to do if someone else is sleeping)... touching it will be much better.

In the google home app, you can switch the LED order so that it displays correctly when you use the google home upside down as you are. Its called "reverse device controls"

I use a chromecast that's powered from the USB on the side of my Vizio TV, and the USB retains power when the TV is off. Works like a charm, just wanted to add that some TV's can power a Chromecast and power on and off. Awesome tips though.

setup voice model matching. then it only listens to your ok google command. multiple people can still use the device by using their own Google account and adding their voice to the same Google home. but random voices won't trigger it.

I don't know if you mentioned this function or not... There's one thing I really missed fromy iphone and it's when the countdown stops the music. With google home you can do that by saying "stop music in XX minutes". Doesn't matter what kind of media you're listening (Spotify, KZbin, local music, etc) once the countdown finished it stops the actual media. So when I go to sleep my playlist won't be still played 6 hours later (yeah I know I have an extremely long playlist) when I wake up. The feature I miss is that when there's a reminder it doesn't tell me what the reminder is, just that I have a reminder.

If you have a Samsung Smart TV you don't need to have a Google Chromecast for the on-and-off feature. You can link your Samsung SmartThings account to the Google home account and access it that way.

Hi! Something to keep in mind is that new commands might not work for every locale... The alarm with music is apparently only currently working with US English and the chaining of commands does not appear to work in every language either...

I'm in the UK and had the same problem. You have to go into settings and change the language to English (American). No doubt you've sorted this problem out before now, as your question was asked a few months ago.

I have Pandora set up so it uses my stations just say "hey google play *insert band or your radio station* at xx:xx" and it will play Pandora at that time. Hope that helps 😊
