Top tips, I love the major , minor, 7 chord idea. I will force myself to tune the axe everyday as it’s something I neglect. I always wondered what the difference between a lick and a riff was. I find it hard to play a song from start to finish, 3 minutes is a long time playing! Cheers LJ

Picked up the guitar after years and I'm trying to learn on my own, but I wasn't sure what to focus on and how my sessions had to be now I will repeat these 5 steps every day, I'll pick 3 songs (already have everlong!) and I'll just practice! What would you suggest when doing scales? Also, what would you suggest for an easy way to learn picking. I'm trying to practice Star Wars and suck at picking.

I'm glad you find the video helpful. By learning chords and changing between them should help you move on to pretty much learning any song. You just need to put the hours into playing and all will become clear, you will then realise actually how simple it is. All the best.

Thank you so much. I just have one question. I’m still a beginner, and I don’t know whether I should look at my picking or at the frets. (I have a video of my playing Eye of the Tiger if you want to watch me play)
@leejohnblackmoremusic5 жыл бұрын
Only ever look at one hand at a time don't try and look at both! I always say look at the left to begin with and feel with the right. It's just lack of practice keep going! 😎👍

I tune my guitar by pressing the A on the E string it should vibrate the A string and so on down the strings you now have a tuned guitar
@dmaikibujin2 жыл бұрын
I thought the standard B major chord was a barre chord? I looked through some sites to try and figure out which one you are using. It looks like you are doing index finger - 2nd Fret A string and ring finger - 4th fret D and G, which they are calling a Bsus4, is that right?
@leejohnblackmoremusic2 жыл бұрын
If the third was flattened one then it would be a B sus 4 but I'm actually playing a major. I'm not playing it as a bar chord my fingers are on 2nd fret A, 4th fret D G B. I'm not playing the low or high E

Lee when you say play a whole song are you meaning play the track and try to play along to the with the song?
@leejohnblackmoremusic5 жыл бұрын
Pick a song you love, play the chords from start to finish, for example Knocking on Heaven's Door has an intro, verse, chorus and Verse, double chorus etc it lasts about 3 minutes of non-stop playing. It's very good to play along with the track but try and do it without as well😎🎸
@rickcontreras593 жыл бұрын
I want to take lessons from you
@edwardpuddy47934 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to disk you. I can tell if I am in tune by picking e to e down the line. And I can tell the string that is out by doing that. I am not very good at running by ear so I use my little tuner to get it right on. I will try your e thing next time and see if it helps or not.
